Rory Gallagher The Bad Penny Podcast

The show is a fan podcast about the Irish guitarist, singer, songwriter, Rory Gallagher. The greatest guitarist you probably never heard of. I will be mostly focusing on his amazing music, but will delve into his life and times as well. Along the way, I hope to have some interesting guests joining me on the spectacular musical journey. Host Mark Roback Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

    A Taste of Rory

Welcome to the Rory Gallagher The Bad Penny Podcast. For the premier episode I am joined by my friend, composer, musician, author, and podcaster extraordinaire Mr. Scott Haskin. In this episode we will be reviewing the eponymous debut album Taste. This was the first studio album released from the Mark II lineup of Taste and the first studio album in Rory's discography. Scott provides his usual interesting analysis of the tracks on this album released in April of 1969.The Official Rory Gallagher Website: https://www.rorygallagher.com/Link to Scott Haskin's Creations: https://www.scotthaskin.com/The "other" show, The 70s Weekly Countdown with Mark and Pete: https://shows.acast.com/70s-weekly-countdown-with-mark-and-peteTaste album info: https://www.discogs.com/release/450945-Taste-TasteRecorded  in De Lane Lea Studios, London, EnglandLength 38:56Label    Polydor (Europe)Atco (North America)Producer            Tony ColtonBass Guitar – Richard McCrackenDesign [Sleeve Design] – Paragon PublicityDrums – John WilsonProducer – Tony ColtonVocals, Lead Guitar – Rory GallagherTrack Listing: All tracks were composed by Rory Gallagher except where stated: 1.      "Blister on the Moon" – 3:26 2.      "Leavin' Blues" (Huddie Ledbetter, Rory Gallagher) – 4:15 3.      "Sugar Mama" (Traditional; arranged by Rory Gallagher) – 7:14 (Key versions include Tampa Red's 1934 recording, Sonny Boy Williamson I's 1937 ) 4.      "Hail" – 2:35  5.      "Born on the Wrong Side of Time" – 4:00 6.      "Dual Carriageway Pain" – 3:13 7.      "Same Old Story" – 3:32 8.      "Catfish" (Traditional; arranged by Rory Gallagher) – 8:04( a foundational Delta blues standard, famously recorded by Robert Petway in 19419.       "I'm Moving On" (Hank Snow) – 2:29  Hosted on Acast.
