Philipp Humm: Artistic Journey, The first Painting, ''The Last Faust'' | Salonexit #16
Philipp Humm’s work draws from his rich and varied life experiences and is deeply reflective and often political. He enjoys exploring the idiosyncrasies and contradictions of contemporary life. Humm is a multi-disciplinary artist working in sculpture, film, photography and painting. Humm’s mind has been described by many as that of two, the intellectual and the creative, both working in harmony. I am deeply intrigued by Philipp's artistic methodology and the extensive journey he is undertaking. My favourite part of this conversation was Philipp's statement in response to my question of whether his ideas appear in his creative mind all at once or gradually. He replied, 'In principle, you see the idea you want, but you might still end up somewhere different.' To me, it's an amazing way of defining art. ''Untitled'' By BAGMAN9000 | SalonExit #13
BAGMAN9000 is a London-based multidisciplinary artists. Although only 18, Bagman spent his whole life pursuing art. His artistic upbringing and bustling London's street-art environment in which Bagman is developing artistically as well as psychologically, make for one of a kind practice torn by his desires to self improve, be original and give back artistically to society as a whole. One of BAGMAN9000'S latest works discussed in this episode the, for now, Untitled, is a painting of the reoccurring in his practice 'face'. Strikingly dressed in a powerful red border, it encapsulates the ever-rushing idea of visual fragmentation 9000 is currently fascinated with. Inspiration-wise, it is bringing together 9000's most recent and dear artistic influences including music, fashion, social activism and a manifold of artistic techniques he utilised in his artistic pursues. This work also builds upon 9000's vision of building a body of work unexpectedly morphing with time into an unknowable and unachievable creation from the future. ''Man Profile in Grey Trousers'' By Stuart McHarrie | SalonExit #12
In this episode of SalonExit we're talking with Stuart McHarrie, a London-based contemporary painter known for his straightforward, iconically original work. In this conversation we discussed Stuart’s medium of choice, his favourite artists, and artistic eras. We touched upon some interesting sociological visuals quirks steering his practice, in particular one of his main themes. Last but not least, we talked about Stuart’s work as a Creative Director & Co-founder of the London-based creative agency smartsoho.co.uk The main painting of this conversation: the ‘Man Profile in Grey Trousers’ comprises of a closed composition featuring a profile of a man wearing monochromatically coloured grey trousers. As discussed, the ‘Man Profile in Grey Trousers’ due to its relatively large size appears to be of a stronger render. In terms of the process behind it, It serves as a great highlight of the techniques Stuart uses in his practice. One of which being a usage of masking tape which although Stuart described as mechanical, I also find to be strongly organic and rewardingly fluid. There is a lot more left to be discovered on Stuarts’ website. Therefore, I highly encourage you to visit this creative space: https://stuartmcharrie.wordpress.com/ Also Follow Stuart on his Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/stuartmcharrie/ #arttalk #artgallery #artpodcast

''Untitled (creature 31)'' By Brandon Hodges | Salon Exit #10
In this episode of SalonExit we're discussing the work of Brandon Hodges, Oakland California-based artist whose artistic practice spans music, painting sculpture and a vast range of artistic experimentation. It was beyond interesting discussing Brandon's approach to art. We predominantly talked about Brandon's experience as an artist and how he has developed his unique style. Amongst others Brandon mentioned his ever-present since early childhood interest in art, but also how his experimentation with mediums, techniques, and studies of individual artists really helped him to find his own voice. The painting of this conversation the ''Creature 31'' is an artwork whose ideological background can be traced back to Brandon's fascination with teeth. The figuration of the lizard (creature) has no objective aim in depicting any particular creature or being, but rather it is as Brandon mentioned a sum of his daily experiences controlled by his creative process. A process crafted through an amalgamation of deep research and a manifold of creative experiences, which as we found out in our conversation not always come in a form of a colloquial artistic experience, but rather everyday affairs which Brandon turns into a beautiful and fascinating art. If you're interested in this artwork visit Brandon's website: https://www.brandonhodgesart.com/Also, check https://salonexit.com/ where you can find more inspirational artist! His background in design has developed his artistic style creating cutting-edge abstract works. ~~https://www.marcusaitken.com/ The work 'Valdo' discussed in this episode of Salon Exit is a transitional masterpiece signifying one of Marcus's stylistic shifts. It carries the astonishingly refreshing colour palette and symbolic qualities into a new base medium of raw canvas. The canvas itself plays an important role in the entirety of not only the composition of the artwork but also Marcus's entire practice. Furthermore, the premise of this piece can be traced to Marcus's most pronounced inspirational well, being the music. “Painting of @vivadrag” by Vincent Giarrano: | Salon Exit #6
Today we are joined by an extraordinary realist painter Vincent Giarrano. In this episode, we discussed Vincent's core inspirational sources and his truly inspiring creative process. The topics discussed and Vincent's take on how a successful practice should be led is beyond inspiring to me. I genuinely encourage you to watch or listen to this conversation, as the clarity with which Vincent was able to outline his processes and how he approaches new artistic challenges can be used not only in art but in all walks of life! This contemporary masterpiece blending a wide variety of visual inspirations fulfils Vincent's need to portray the present as it appears to all of us. The intimate connection between the viewer and the subject is achieved by skilfully crafted thought-through usage of eye contact the girl in the painting (@vivadrag) maintains with us. It is also done through the vigorous colour palette with exceptionally strong yet balanced usage of the colour red. Moreover, it is a part of a series focusing amongst others on a narrow-angled view of the subject inspired by photography mentioned in the interview. I would like to apologise for my poor audio which I did not expect to behave in this way as this was the first video interview I conducted over the internet. I will make sure this won't happen again, and if it does I hope it'll be to a lesser degree. Please follow Vincent's social media: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/vgiarrano/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/people/Vince... Most importantly if you're interested in supporting Vincent's art visit his website: https://www.giarrano.com/ where you can purchase some of his original work! “Thames Walls” by Mercedes Balle: | Salon Exit #5
In this episode of Salon Exit, we are pleased to introduce Mercedes Balle, an extraordinary multidisciplinary conceptual artist coming from Majorca currently living, displaying and creating in London. In this episode, we discussed Mercedes’ practice starting from her latest project, “Thames Walls” a conceptual masterpiece that tackles the idea of our troublesome relationship with nature, in this case, The River Thames. This work explores the physical as well as ideological boundaries which we built to subordinate the river. In the process of doing that, the natural walls of the river which in the past served as a hub for animals and flora of all sorts became just a unified set of man-made barricades. “Thames Walls” is Mercedes’ response to her work in the Estuary 2021 Associated Programme. Furthermore, this work also ponders the importance of the natural processes of death and change. However, as mentioned during the interview, it is an ongoing project, and this consideration is yet to be entirely dissected by Mercedes. The other work discussed in this episode: “Fallen Sky” “Open Cave” “Scaffolding Windows” “The Window Keeper” There is a lot more left to be discovered on Mercedes’ website. Therefore, I highly encourage you to visit this creative space: https://mercedesballe.com/ Follow Mercedes on her Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/mercedes.ba...

''Orders'' was displayed during Peter's latest individual exhibition at Noho Studios London, (18-21st Aug 2021). It is a continuation of Peter's visual narrative journey which tackles questions such as; Is there something worth dying for? Or what is our place within the biosphere as one of the 8.7mln species? Last but not least it's a stunning representation of Peter's fascination with patterns endemic to places he visits through his artistic ventures. ''The Throne of Screaming in Silence'' by Preslav Kostov (intro): | Salon Exit #2
A couple of days ago I had a great pleasure interviewing Preslav Kostov, a stunning artist and a great personality who was kind enough to walk me through his practice and describe the creative processes behind his stunning paintings! ''The Throne of Screaming in Silence'' which was the main painting discussed in this conversation was born from an extended introspective journey Preslav went through some time ago. This painting is what at the moment greatly distinguishes Preslav's creations by introducing the fascination of a form of the human body, in this case, self-portrait, while exploring the depths of self biographical awareness experienced through artistic means. Last but not least Preslav's creations, especially in this case, display a constant strive of mastering his skills in order to more confidently portray his, as well as the external world, which as he said, at some point will become ever-present in his future works. This is why I thought this painting deserves a conversation on its own. Its place in Preslav's practice although fitting his greater constantly progressing narration is a huge milestone in understanding the true self and becoming an even greater artist! The conversation together with the main painting discussed can also be viewed at www.salonexit.com I also highly encourage you to go and check out Preslav's social media pages if you are interested in purchasing this magnificent piece of art!: https://www.instagram.com/preslavkostov/ https://linktr.ee/preslavkostov
