    Will you be my Galentine?

Female friendships are worthy of ongoing celebration, extending beyond a single day each year. Big shout-out to our amazing lady friends – the ones who stood by us when our partners didn't, who lent an empathetic ear through several rounds of breaking up with the same red-flag personalities. You've been the unwavering support for our wildest dreams, standing by us through successes and failures. Whether our world seems to be unraveling or when we're soaring high, you're always there. Thank you, for embracing vulnerability, love, empathy, authenticity, kindness, and honesty. Thank you for opening up and being vulnerable and trustworthy of our friendships because it has allowed this friendship to be what it is today. "Treat Yo' Self"

You do it. Your neighbors do it. Your coworkers do it. Yes, even your parents do it! We are talking about self-care! (sorry to disappoint some of you)...In this episode, we indulge in the world of self-care and explore the meaning behind this iconic mantra popularized by the show “Parks and Recreation”. We define what self-care means to us and examine what exactly self-care is and what it isn’t. (Hint: it’s not all about luxurious spa treatments and fancy vacations and wine!) We also examine how self-care is celebrated in the Western vs South Asian cultures and even between different generations while also providing economically feasible ways of doing self-care . Come and join us as we explore ways in which we can channel the spirit of Parks and Rec's "Treat Yo Self" philosophy into our everyday lives.  Disclaimer: We do not take credit for the title/ phrase. Title is taken from the Parks and Recreation show.

Shedding Light on Seasonal Affective Disorder

Ugh, it’s so cold. Is it seriously only 4 pm? I feel like I wake up in darkness and go to bed in darkness. It’s like there is a dark ominous cloud over my head that I just can’t shake off ever since winter started. I have so many errands piled up that I need to get done. But I just don’t feel like it. Does the above narration sound familiar? In this episode, we shed some light on Seasonal Effective Disorder (SAD) and discuss the Nordic concept of Koselig to help chase away some of the seasonal shadows of winter. Stay tuned until the end as we have Dr. Nithya Cherukuru and Dr. Keerthi Channarasappa, board members of the organization “South Asian Americans for Change” (SAAFC), join the conversation and answer all our SAD-related questions as well as speak to us about their upcoming 2nd annual “The Healing Through Art Gala” on March 2nd at 8PM in Philadelphia! Visit their website and Instagram to discover more about their initiatives to combat mental health stigma in the South Asian community. Fasts to Feasts

Welcome back listeners! In this second installation of our two-part series on holidays, we bring you more fun and stories as we explore the vibrant tapestry of South Asian festivities. In this episode, we experience the elaborate celebrations of Diwali and learn about the story and puja behind the beloved elephant-headed deity, Lord Ganesha. We also understand the cultural significance of Pohela Boishakh, the Bengali New Year as well as explore the traditions of Eid, including the special prayers, feasts, and the spirit of giving that defines this sacred occasion. Whether you are religious or not, we can all agree that celebrating holidays and festivals transcends race, religion, ethnicity, and culture. A Very Brown Christmas

Have you ever been so excited to see Santa that you pooped your pants?  Did you get detention after revealing the non-existence of Santa to an entire classroom full of kids?  Are you a sucker for cheesy Hallmark Christmas movies and Christmas songs?  Did your teacher gaslight you when you told her that Santa never ate your Christmas cookies that you left out for him?  In one of our funniest episodes ever, we converse on this and more! Holidays are a time of great joy and celebration as we come together with friends and family while carrying our traditions forward. In this two-part series, we discuss some of our favorite holidays and what makes them so unique and memorable to us. We take a walk down memory lane as we relive childhood memories and celebrate our favorite holidays. So put on your scariest Halloween costume, hang up that stocking, light up your favorite festive candle, and sit back with us with a delicious hot cocoa in your hands. We are about to take a deep dive into the holidays…but with a whole lot of South Asian flair!
