Scott Roche's Omniverse
by Scott Roche
Subscribing to the Omniverse will get you everything from short fiction to serialized versions of my longer works. This podcast featuries voices from around the internet. My stories run the gamut from horror to literary fiction. As a multi-genre author, two of my key inspirations are Stephen King and Ray Bradbury. As those men did, I strive to use all the tools in my toolbox to weave stories that have rich characters in weird and wonderful situations.

Dr. Linn and His Master Chronographometer
In this episode, I present a gripping narrative featuring Dr. Linn and his invention, the Master Chronographometer, as he attempts to alter a historical event—an assassination attempt by Dr. Carl Weiss. This story blends time travel with real history, prompting ethical questions about interference with fate. As Dr. Lin navigates a bustling early 20th-century scene, I explore themes of morality, ambition, and the unforeseen consequences of our choices. Ultimately, the episode challenges listeners to reflect on the intricate connections of human experience and the impact of their decisions across time.

Playing the Fool
In this episode of Roche's Omniverse, I explore my whimsical fantasy fiction piece, "Playing the Fool," initially crafted for a TikTok writer's group. The narrative follows my protagonist, who undertakes the challenge of impersonating a skilled wizard's apprentice named Jonathan Grubbottom. I share the amusing and risky methods I employed to build rapport with him, allowing me to infiltrate Gortho the Amazing's realm in search of the powerful Grimoire of the Mastery of Annihilation. As the story unfolds, I emphasize the treacherous nature of apprenticeship in a competitive world of wizardry, detailing my encounters and ethical dilemmas during my deception. The tension heightens when I face Gortho and confront moral questions surrounding power and authenticity, leading to a pivotal moment where I must choose between my constructed identity and my true form. "Playing the Fool" invites listeners to reflect on ambition, the nature of power, and the masks we wear in our pursuits.

Thrice Damned
Today's episode is a short story I wrote for a contest. It wasn't a winner there, but it's a winner in my book! I hope you enjoy it. Thanks to Fesliyan Studios for the music.

RCNP
The story this week is With RCNP read by John Mierau – author, podcaster, and professional narrator/voice actor. A few years ago, my Canadian relative and his wife, my cousin, were visiting us. Daryl has a good sense of humor and we were talking about how nice most Canadians are. I let my brain run with it and came up with something sinister and funny. I also pulled some inspiration from my friend Paul Cooley for the main character. He’s often promised that he’s going to off me in one of his stories. Will I beat him to the punch? You’ll have to listen and see. Ending Promo – Quarter Bin podcast http://relativelygeekypodcast.blogspot.com/ Links John Mierau https://www.patreon.com/ScottRoche Buy it at Payhip!
