Ed graduated from North Adams State College in 1986 and was commissioned in the U.S. Army as a Second Lieutenant in October 1991. He currently serves as the Assistant Chief of Staff/Senior Guard Advisor U.S. Army Central. Over the course of his career, he has served in a variety of billets, including Public Affairs/Public Relations, Executive Officer, Brigade Team Chief/Commander, Legislative Liaison/Congressional Fellow, and Battalion Commander to name a few. He deployed to Afghanistan in 2006 and is a recipient of the Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, and Purple Heart. SGM Michael A. Welsh Mike Welsh is a 27-year retired U.S. Army Sergeant Major. He has been appointed to serve on the DoD Traumatic Brain Injury Panel by the President of the United States. He is a mentor for Team River Runner and the Paralyzed Veterans of America. Mike entered the U.S. Army in April 1979 and retired in April 2007. He worked heavily in the areas of Intelligence, Information Warfare, Strategic Communications, Drug Enforcement, and Public Affairs. He has deployed to Afghanistan, Iraq, and Bosnia, and retired from the Army after being critically wounded in Afghanistan in 2006.
