A tribute to the “mother” in each female leader
This episode is a special edition for Mother’s day. It draws on the letter called “The Legacy of Our Mothers”, that Esther Perel published last week. Esther shares some details about the complicated and ambivalent relationship she had with her own mother and invites us to reflect on our own relationships with motherly figures. I want to build on that invitation, I want to broaden the scope of the conversation and introduce the following thought: The relationship with our mother becomes a blueprint for our relationships with women - a blueprint for our relationships with female leaders. A great mother makes a great leader. And a great leader is very much like a great mother. Leadership, like motherhood, is an act of profound nurture and service. It demands not only strength and vision but a heart willing to listen, to guide, and to protect. How are your relationships with women? Do you experience ambivalence with female authority figures? How do your relationships with female leaders mirror those with your mother? How does this influence manifest in your professional life? If you’re a female leader - how does your mother’s voice shape the way you lead your people? Join me on this special edition of the SHFT Happens Podcast as e explore these questions and more:

Transformational Work Integration | Life Therapy with Experiential Training Institute
Life Therapy for this case: It's been 1.5 years since a major turning point in my life. After the initial highs and the afterglow faded, I found myself grappling with questions about what I want to do, who I want to be, who my people are, and what my place is in society. I didn’t receive any ready-made revelations or answers. Instead, I was left with a strong, piercing longing for a different kind of life — a slower life, with less chaos, hurt, and numbness, and more authenticity, more attunement to my body and heart, and more meaning.I was clueless about where to start, what it meant, where to go, what to do, or who to talk to. It was an intensely lonely place. I tried to explain this to my husband, but it’s hard to convey that this feeling, this sense of misplacement, wasn’t just a fleeting thought, but something profound and deep-seated — in my bones, my essence, my core. That moment of change opened up a void, and over the past year, I’ve been trying to figure out how to fill it — with positive experiences, tranquility, movement, and nature."Reflection on 1.5 years after a life-altering experienceStruggle with questions about identity, purpose, and belongingLetting go of old friendships and finding new, genuine connectionsCoping with the loss of a sister to suicideThe impact of trauma, freeze responses, and COVIDThe risks of poor integration and lack of supportA lonely and terrifying season marked by ungroundednessSteps toward healing: trauma and somatic therapyQuestions for therapists and coachesAdvice for others navigating deep personal transformation✨ #Healing #Integration #MentalHealth #Breakthrough #Therapy 🌟In this episode:

Matthew Simpson: It's Worth The Fight! Overcoming Trauma.

However, his life felt empty and devoid of hope. He had it all, but he felt stuck. During this process, he found a way to heal his trauma, overcome his anxiety, he left the world of business, and embraced the role of an ambassador dedicated to addressing the U.S. war veteran suicide epidemic. His book, "Worth a Fight," chronicles this profound transformation and today he donates the proceeds from his book to support U.S. war veterans in their ongoing struggles.Join me on this episode where Matt openly shares his journey, a narrative healing from pain and trauma. He accomplished what many would deem the “American Dream,” but lived a life without hope. Carine de Meyere: Hurry Up! Will Men & Women Ever Be Equal?
In 20 years of my career, I went from one good job to another; from one great company to an even better one, and I truly believed I was being judged on my capabilities and not my gender. So, when asked to comment on this topic, I always declined because statements like “my gender has not gotten in my way” weren’t really fit for headlines. Yes, I went to all the women's networks (I even lead one for Dell (DWEN)). But at some point all the female networks started to look a lot like female ghettos. And all the focus on needing to improve women's self esteem and capabilities just seemed to feed women's insecurities and the myth that women are less capable. I just didn’t want to be a contributing factor to that. It wasn’t until I got older…actually, it wasn't until I became a mother (read a year ago), that I became conscious of how unfair it all is. Reflecting back on my experiences, a cascade of examples highlighting this inequality lined up (which I will share in another podcast). Today, I am thrilled to share my conversation with Carine de Meyere, Women's rights advocate. Please watch! About Carine de Meyere: * Women's rights advocate* Founder of Women of the world * Studied Social Sciences and Women’s Studies * A chief tribal builder for women entrepreneurs* One of the most inspiring leaders in the world and one of the top 100 women in tech * The starter of a silent revolution on making the unconscious gender bias consciousIn this Episode: 00:06 Learning to code in 1980s 00:12 Women and the Queen Bee Syndrome00:13 Geert Wilders - we could have seen it coming 00:15 Take aways from Davos00:16 25 conflicts around the world 00:17 Planetary boundaries00:20 DWEN, Code-V, TedX00:24 The Dutch school system is very old fashioned 00:28 Women are second rate citizens in the Netherlands00:30 Addressing Childcare Challenges for Working Women00:31 The Complexity of Gender Equality: A Global Transformation00:32 Rethinking the Narrative: Moving from Equality to Equity00:56 Physically, we are not as strong as men00:57 Awareness for Human trafficking#equality #gender #genderequality #battleofthesexes

Being The Peace You Want To See In The Israel–Hamas War
Two weeks into the conflict, as the world falls deeper and deeper into fear and polarization, you may be asking yourself, How do I feel about this? Should I do something? Should I pray? Should I condemn? Should I remain impartial? Is it right to pick sides? When you take a moment to reflect, when you listen to your inner dialogue regarding this. What is your first instinct when you hear of all the horror and pain? Do you tend to downplay it? “Media is probably exaggerating things…” Do you Look away? Avoid watching or reading the news and hope that it will somehow all go away shortly? Do you start to Research and look into history? Do you dare to form your own opinion about it? Or do you prefer to seek the opinion of your friends? All over the internet, the advice that is being dispensed is: “Pick the side of peace. Choose the side of life.” But what does that actually mean? What does that look like in practice? And will it make any difference to the Israeli or Palestinian people which side you pick? This is what this episode is about. Consider it a practical guide on how to do something that is actually in your power to "pick the side of PEACE".

The Role of Pharmaceuticals in the Declining Mental Health
Are we missing the point with Psychedelic Pharmaceuticals? In this episode I’m exploring 3 critical missteps. In a society eager for the next magical solution, the tantalizing prospect of harnessing the therapeutic potential of psychedelics through pharmaceuticals has taken center stage. But, are we really on the right track? Let's delve into three reasons why I believe we should reconsider the fusion of pharmacology and psychedelics. Reason one: Does the absence of hallucinations mean the absence of true healing? Reason two: Spiritual Catharsis is at the heart of lasting change. Does stripping psychedelics of that power mean that we are also reducing the healing potential? Lastly, I challenge the notion that symptomatic treatment leads to systemic transformation. Can quick fixes genuinely spark the profound healing we seek? Wise Guides: The Art of Choosing the Right Facilitator
“The role of the guide is perhaps the most exciting and inspiring role in society. He is literally a liberator, one who provides illumination, one who frees men from their life-long internal bondage. To be present at the moment of awakening, to share the ecstatic revelation when the voyager discovers the wonder and awe of the divine life-process, is for many the most gratifying part to play in the evolutionary drama. The role of the psychedelic guide has a built-in protection against professionalism and didactic oneupmanship. The psychedelic liberation is so powerful that it far outstrips earthly game ambitions. Awe and gratitude - rather than pride - are the rewards of this new profession,” (from the Psychedelic Experience, by Timothy Leary). In this episode: How do you choose the right liberator?
