Shuff Happens

Shuff Happens focuses on how when we can't control what happens to us, we do control our reaction to it. Remember, the cards you have been dealt aren't nearly as important as how you play them. Because here, every step and every stumble matters as we bridge divides in our shared humanity.

He Said What? Pt. 2 | Episode #18
Today we finish the conversation around intention versus reception. We each find ourselves in conversations and situations where words said or actions had get lost in translation. We don't know the scope of life lived by each person we have small interactions with. We might get someone on their worst day, or their best day, and certainly more often everything in between. The lessons learned by Shuffle and his father are that we need more patience and grace as we continue to exist and grow together as humans sharing this beautiful blue space rock. The Bearded Trainer
Kyle Boyce joins me today for another part 1 of a 2 parter. Kyle is better known as the bearded trainer. He's been coaching in fitness and nutrition for over 13 years. Kyle started out with the dream of becoming a P.E. teacher as he enjoyed activity and movement like most of us once did in our youth. He found his way into the field of fitness coaching to better provide for his family. Through ups and downs with different gyms, Kyle took a leap of faith to start his own gym. From garage to warehouse, his clients have turned into instructors, success stories, but most importantly, a bunch of friends. Some might even call us a family. Please enjoy this episode, and keep in mind today's audio might have its quirky moments—yep, I'm still on this learning journey with you all. But as we've come to learn here at 'Shuff Happens,' it's not the mistakes that define us, but how we grow from them. Follow Kyle on Instagram and come try out the gym for free for a whole week. You won't be disappointed. https://www.instagram.com/thebeardedtrainer/

Jeff Goodsell Part. 1
Today's episode of Shuff Happens welcomes a rekindled friendship of mine from 13 years ago. Jeff is a father, artist, entrepreneur, and he's dealt with suicidality, been through divorce, and come out on the other side a better man. Jeff Goodsell comes on at a time that is incredibly relevant to the topics that we're dealing with more and more these days. We cover those heavy topics along with the lighter ones, exploring his career in art, vacations, ADHD, handling procrastination and therapy. His willingness to talk about these topics is vital for us to learn from. Some of his perspectives are completely new to me and helped me changed my way of thinking. Part 2 comes out Friday. We'll see you then. Find and follow Jeff's work here: https://javicci.com/ https://www.instagram.com/javicciart

Clayton Gornichec
Clayton is a father, an ER nurse, and a rising DJ. Clayton and I go way back to 5th grade basketball. While our lives started out similarly, it's fascinating to see how they diverged and what he's done with his. Trigger warning for this episode. Being a neuro ICU nurse means witnessing things that many of us never think about. Suicide being one of them. Clayton shares his experience with that along with his two divorces. Clayton's resilience and focus on the present to design his future is inspiring. Hopefully, we can listen and learn from his life to stay positive, stay kind, and to know it's never to late to explore ourselves and our dreams. Shuffle's father joins him on today's episode of Shuff Happens. This episode was recorded in April of 2023, a week before Shuffle's baby was born.
