“NO GMO” by Children of Earth (Edit 1 initially released via SoundCloud on the eve of the Global March against Monsanto, 25th May 2013) was made in KwaZulu Natal with some of South Africa’s & The UK’s Music Industry’s Heavyweights lending their voices, skills, talents and resources to unite towards a GMO Free Earth. What may have started out as what some may have perceived as a crazy idea exactly one month before the Global March against Monsanto 2013, has brought together an extremely diverse blend of world class artists, musicians and producers, with a powerful message intended towards raising global awareness of the cataclysmic tipping point of ecological disaster, disease, sterility and death that is being created by Monsanto and similar companies. Immense respect, gratitude and love to ALL the artists who had faith in this project and made it happen under very short notice and tight schedules, with the belief in the Power of Music & Collective Intent to help raise Global Awareness. Huge thanks and respect to Earthlife Africa Durban, The Global March against Monsanto and the many other initiatives that are continuously & tirelessly researching and shedding light on this subject and spreading the word. This track commemorates ‘the Streets’: the grit and heart; the people we mourn; the things we’ve seen; but also its illnesses. This track is also a tribute to Paul Hussey of Studio 101 and his family who in the short time they have lived in Durban have made a remarkable contribution to Durban music. Paul had the heart to support a young artist by giving his time and studio to record the Blaq Q7’s vocals and co-produce the track. This has been one of many of Paul’s contributions. The Blaq Q first worked with Paul as part of the Children of Earth collective’s ‘No GMO’ which Paul recorded and produced. Paul is currently grappling with a serious illness and SideWayz Produxionz and the Blaq Q7 give thanks for his guidance and the generosity of Paul, Angela (Poppy Seed), Kianja and Angelo.
