Love vs Fear: The Inner Switch That Changes Your Life

In this episode of Standing in the Light, we explore one of the most foundational truths of human experience: beneath every emotion, reaction, and decision, there are two core root states—love and fear.Fear is deeply wired into our biology as a survival mechanism. It protects us, alerts us, and keeps us safe. But in modern life, fear often expands beyond physical danger and shows up in our relationships, thoughts, and emotional patterns—creating contraction, reactivity, control, and disconnection.Love, on the other hand, is our natural state of connection. It expands us, softens us, and brings us into presence, compassion, trust, and creativity. It is the place we return to when we are no longer in survival mode.Throughout this episode, we explore:The origin of fear and its role in survivalThe origin of love as a state of connection and wholenessHow fear and love shape our daily thoughts, behaviors, and relationshipsWhy love creates a ripple effect in our lives and elevates our internal stateWhat it means to “return to love” as our default sourcePractical tools for shifting out of fear when it takes overHow to choose love in difficult moments without bypassing realitySimple, grounded ways to regulate the nervous system and respond rather than reactYou’ll also learn how small, conscious choices—made consistently—begin to rewire your emotional patterns and change the way you show up in your relationships, work, and inner life. This episode is a reminder that you don’t have to eliminate fear to grow—you just have to learn how to recognize it, move through it, and return to love as your center again and again.Because every moment is a choice between contraction and expansion. Between fear and love. And that choice changes everything.Key Takeaway:Love is not something you achieve—it’s something you return to.

The Life You're Actually Living: How to Experience It Fully

In this episode of Standing in the Light, we explore what it truly means to create your best life experience—not through perfection, achievement, or external validation, but through presence, alignment, and awareness. So often, life is treated as something to get through rather than something to actually experience. In this conversation, we shift that perspective and break down how to become more intentional with the way you move through your days.We explore six core pillars that shape a meaningful life experience: presence over perfection, meaning over comfort, expression over suppression, connection over isolation, intention over autopilot living, and the often-overlooked foundation of it all—boundaries that protect your energy. You’ll hear practical ways to bring each of these into your daily life, from simple presence practices and communication shifts, to ways of deepening relationships, living more intentionally, and learning how to say no without guilt so you can say yes to what truly matters. This episode is a reminder that your life is not defined by what happens to you, but by how you experience it. The small moments, the ordinary routines, the conversations you have, and the energy you bring into them—that is where your life is actually being created. We close the episode with a reflective reading on the idea that life is a series of experiences, inviting you to consider not just what your life looks like, but what it feels like to live it.If you’ve been feeling like life is moving quickly or on autopilot, this conversation is an invitation to slow down internally, reconnect, and begin shaping your experience from the inside out.Because the goal isn’t just to live your life. It’s to actually experience it.And that is what it means to stand in your light.

The Library of Life: A Spiritual Map of Every Season

What if the Bible wasn't something to master — but something to meet you where you are?In this episode of Standing in the Light, we approach Scripture not as a rulebook or a debate — but as a library. A collection of 66 books written across centuries, by dozens of authors, capturing nearly every human emotion and life season imaginable.Whether you're in a season of wandering, rebuilding, grieving, leading, falling in love, or searching for something you can't yet name — there's likely a book that meets that moment. We walk through the Old Testament, the poetry and wisdom literature, and the New Testament as a kind of spiritual map. Then we explore a fascinating thread: how some of history's greatest scientific minds — Newton, Einstein, Galileo, Kepler, Francis Collins, and Stephen Hawking — each engaged with this same text, in profoundly different ways. Some saw it as divine revelation. Some as moral framework. Some as metaphor. Almost none dismissed it casually. The invitation today isn't blind belief or automatic dismissal. It's something more interesting: thoughtful engagement. This episode is for the longtime believer who's lost their map. For the skeptic who's curious but cautious. For anyone asking, "Where do I even start?"Start where you are. There is light for exactly the chapter you're in.

Rekindling Compassion and Awakening the Light Within

In this reflective and unifying episode of Standing in the Light, we explore the enduring question: Why do people follow Jesus Christ — and what does his life mean for us today? We begin by looking at who Jesus was historically: a Jewish teacher in first-century Judea whose radical message of love, humility, forgiveness, and justice transformed the world. From there, we move into the deeper spiritual dimension often described as Christ Consciousness — the awakened awareness of divine love and unity that many believe lives within all of us.This episode explores the powerful meaning behind the phrase “I Am,” rooted in the Hebrew Scriptures and echoed in the teachings of Jesus, and how that sacred identity points to the divine spark within every human being. We also examine the shared foundations of the Torah, the Bible, and the Qur'an — highlighting their common call to justice, compassion, prayer, and moral accountability. In a time when division dominates headlines, understanding our shared spiritual roots can become a bridge rather than a barrier. We revisit the transformative Jesus Movement of the 1960s and the cultural impact of the “What Would Jesus Do?” movement inspired by Charles Sheldon, exploring how these waves of faith sparked renewed commitment to love in action. Most importantly, this episode offers a heartfelt call to embody the spirit of Jesus in our daily lives through demonstration. Through forgiveness instead of retaliation. Through listening instead of labeling. Through courage rooted in compassion. In a polarized world, what would it look like to live the question: What would love do? and to revisit What would Jesus do?This conversation invites you to awaken the light within, recognize the divine image in others, and become part of a new movement — one heart, one choice, one act of grace at a time.

Forgiveness: The Science of Letting Go

What actually happens in the brain when we forgive? In this episode, we dive into the scientific evidence behind forgiveness and why letting go of resentment improves cardiovascular health, lowers anxiety and depression, and strengthens emotional resilience. This conversation blends research from Stanford and Harvard with timeless spiritual insights, offering listeners a grounded, evidence-based understanding of why forgiveness is one of the most powerful tools for personal growth and inner peace.Additionally, I read "Don't Feel Guilty, Learn From the Past" by Doug Hooper in his Book 1 of You Are What You Think.

    The Power of Love

In this episode of Standing in the Light, I explore love as a foundational force that shapes our biology, psychology, and spiritual experience. Love is the original state we are born into, the connective tissue of human relationships, and the guiding principle that can bring healing even in the face of pain, fear, and separation. We begin by reflecting on the history of Valentine’s Day and how its roots in courage, devotion, and sacrifice remind us that love has always been something worth choosing, even when it is difficult. From there, we dive into the science of love, examining how oxytocin, dopamine, and mirror neurons help explain our deep capacity for empathy, emotional synchronization, and connection with both people and even our pets. The episode also explores how love functions as a spiritual principle through the lens of A Course in Miracles, which teaches that love is the only truth and that fear is an illusion. Forgiveness is reframed as a powerful process of releasing perception and choosing peace over suffering. We then look at the Five Love Languages by Gary Chapman and how understanding the ways we give and receive love can transform our relationships. By learning to identify our own primary love language — and those of the people closest to us — we can shift from unconscious patterns into intentional, conscious connection. To close, we ground everything in a real-life story by reading an article from Doug Hooper’s You Are What You Think, Book One, titled “The Power of Love Transcends Prison Walls,” reminding us that love’s capacity to heal and transform exists even in the most unlikely places.Happy Valentine's Day!For a few love songs, check out my husband's hits on Spotify, Apple Music, or wherever you listen :)"Real Love""One True Love (Live)""My Love is Gonna' Take You Up (Live)"

How Your Brain Learns Who You Are and "Your Potential Powers are Lying Dormant" by Doug Hooper

In this episode of Standing in the Light, we explore the hidden system that runs most of our lives: the subconscious mind. While we often think change happens through willpower and conscious effort, neuroscience tells a different story. Nearly everything we do — our habits, emotional reactions, self-talk, and relationship patterns — is driven by subconscious programming built from repetition, emotion, and early experience. We dive into how the subconscious actually works, why it prioritizes what feels familiar over what feels healthy, and how deeply emotional experiences become stored as identity. You’ll learn how thoughts aren’t just abstract ideas, but physical signals that travel through neural pathways in the brain — and how the principle of neuroplasticity shows us that the brain is constantly rewiring itself based on what we repeatedly think, feel, and imagine. This episode breaks down why affirmations often fail, how identity-based change creates lasting transformation, and why visualization and emotional awareness are powerful tools for building new neural circuits. We also explore how the nervous system learns through experience, not logic, and how you can gently train your subconscious to support growth instead of staying stuck in survival patterns. If you’ve ever felt like you know what you want, but can’t seem to get out of your own way, this conversation will help you understand why — and how to begin working with your mind instead of against it. Because real change isn’t about forcing positivity. It’s about teaching your brain what it’s safe to believe about who you are becoming. In this episode I dive a little deeper by reading Doug Hooper's "Your Potential Powers Are Lying Dormant", article 10 of You Are What You Think Book 1 to discuss how we can visualize success and make it happen!

Becoming on Purpose: Intentions, Visualization, and Inner Alignment Updated

In this episode of Standing in the Light, we explore the transformative power of intentions and why they often create deeper, more sustainable change than goals alone. While goals help us define where we want to go, intentions shape who we are becoming along the way, influencing our thoughts, emotions, and daily actions long before results appear. We discuss how intentions differ from goals, how they function as an internal compass rather than an external pressure, and why aligning your way of being with what you want to create allows growth to unfold with more clarity, meaning, and self-trust.This episode also includes a reading and discussion of Doug Hooper’s Article 10 from You Are What You Think, Book 1, titled “Use Mental Images to Remodel Yourself.” Hooper explains that establishing success patterns becomes far easier when we set achievable goals rather than overly difficult ones that often lead to immediate discouragement or perceived failure. By choosing goals that are realistic and attainable, we create momentum, reinforce confidence, and train the mind to associate effort with success rather than frustration. We further explore the Law of Visualization, emphasizing how creating clear mental images of who you want to be—and how you want to see yourself showing up in your life—can actively reshape thought patterns, behaviors, and outcomes. Visualization is presented not as wishful thinking, but as a deliberate practice that helps align the subconscious mind with conscious intention, allowing inner change to precede outer transformation.Throughout the episode, listeners are invited to reflect on how intentions, achievable goals, and visualization work together to support growth that feels authentic, embodied, and sustainable. What intentions truly are and how they differ from goalsWhy intentions shape your internal state, not just external outcomesHow achievable goals create success patterns and build confidenceInsights from Doug Hooper’s You Are What You Think, Book 1, Article 10Using mental imagery to remodel self-perception and behaviorApplying the Law of Visualization to align thoughts, actions, and identityHow intentions bring life and meaning to the process of becomingThis episode is an invitation to slow down, become conscious of how you are showing up, and intentionally participate in the life you are creating—one aligned thought, image, and choice at a time.Thank you for listening, for reflecting, and for continuing to stand in the light.

In this very first Ode of Standing in the Light, we shine a spotlight on Martin A. Maximizing Human Potential: A Heart-Centered Conversation with Patricia Wagner

Patricia left her last corporate position as a director for the Tampa Downtown Partnership in 1998 to more fully weave her spiritual beliefs into her career. She opened Grace Unlimited in 2000. Over a 16-year period, she taught energy healing and provided thousands of energy healing treatments for people. Patricia is an ordained Divine Science minister and licensed Unity teacher. By incorporating Truth principles, spiritual law and metaphysics into her healings, she witnessed profound results.Patricia began meditating in 1977 and soon after began receiving Messages from Spirit, what she calls“Divine Downloads.” Three of the revelations received – “Two Doors Vision” (1999), “Looking For Light”(2001) and “The Christ Chalice” (2015) – are meant to assist humanity in awakening. With knowledge gained through her meditation practice, her spiritual study and energy healing experiences, she realized, “It’s all about the energy! Everything is energy and, therefore, everything is changeable. It is the frequency at which we most consistently vibrate that out-pictures in our lives. The higher the vibrational frequency, the more heavenly life becomes.”To elevate a person’s vibrational energy field and continually sustain a high frequency, Patricia simplified the three messages from Spirit into one daily practice called “The Divine Two-Step.” It consists of:1. ALIGNING your MIND with the DIVINE all the TIME while2. ANCHORING to the FEELING of GRATITUDE in your HEART, all day, every day.She advises to begin with one of the practices, the one which resonates most with you. Practice it daily until it becomes your normal state of being. Then add the other one. Your life will be transformed.By consciously dancing “The Divine Two-Step” daily, our personal high vibrational frequencies will energetically link together in a powerful collective global field causing a paradigm-shift on planet Earth while co-creating a New World, our very own heaven on earth.Discover the Divine Downloads shared with Patricia Wagner through meditation, to help the world awaken to Heaven on Earth.Slide Show used in Podcast EpisodeRequest to join the interactive "Living in Heart Centered Gratitude" private Facebook GroupRegister for the next "7-Day Heart Centered Gratitude (HCG) Experiment, email your Name with "Experiment" in the subject line to : [email protected]
