Steady Spinning

We are a pair of Vinylphiles exploring music one record at a time. Join us as we discuss a different LP each week!

  1. 7

    No More Saints and Fluf

This episode we continue our discussion with Ken Pucci and Jim Alfaro as we delve into their second project together No More Saints. Due to the quick nature of this hardcore punk album, we will also look into the band Fluf, which became the band after Olivelawn split up and Eddie Glass joined Fu Manchu. In between, we will look at another random 45 from Scotty's grandparents collection.

  2. 6

    Polyphia

For our 6th episode of Steady Spinning we take a listen to the album "Remember That You Will Die" from instrument virtuosos Polyphia. The things this group can do with guitars is nothing short of phenomenal. We also get a surprise from our random 7" pull, but you will have to listen to find that out. Enjoy and remember to follow us!

    If This Isn't a Dream

SPECIAL EPISODE!!!! This week we are joined by Ken Pucci and Jim Alfaro Before they were the Stoner Rock juggernaut Fu Manchu, they were the post-punk band Virulence. Joining us is vocalist Ken Pucci and guitarist Jim Alfaro as we dive into their debut (and only) release "If This Isn't a Dream". Originally put out by Alchemy Records in 1987, it has seen a couple of re-releases by Southern Lord Records, including this 2020 record store vinyl re-mastered by Ken and Scott Hill (Fu Manchu and Virulence). As usual we take a small break in the middle to pull a random 45 from Scotty's grandparents' collection. Enjoy and stay tuned for part 2 when we talk to them about their other band No More Saints.

  4. 4

    Eighteen

This weeks episode comes from the collaboration between a guitar legend and a Hollywood icon. Beck and Depp deliver a musical masterpiece as we play a game of Fake, Fiction, or Reel? We also pull a random 7" that had cover art to make both of us blush.

  5. 3

    No One Rides for Free

This week kicks off a season long deep dive into the stoner rock band Fu Manchu. This episode is dedicated to their debut release, which also was the only album released with the original lineup. In between sides, we (randomly) dig into Scotty's box of his grandfathers 45's.

  6. 2

    Across the Universe

In this episode we discuss the soundtrack to Across the Universe and the Beatles. We also introduce our first Random 7".

  7. 1

    Our Origin Story

In our inaugural episode we discuss the vinyls that got us back into records and has since fueled our addiction. For Scotty that album was Led Zeppelin IV. For me, it was the self-titled release by Pacific Gas & Electric. We also play a fun little game in between, but you are going to have to listen to find out what it is.
