Just a Super Weekend!
It was a super time at Super Round this weekend in Christchurch. The team headed down to the Garden City for the opening of Te Kaha, One New Zealand Stadium and it was a banger! 5 sold out games and plenty of action. The Crusaders gave their fans an opening night to remember as they put away the Waratahs with a hat trick from Dallas McLeod. The Hurricanes once again showed their dominance by destroying the Brumbies on Anzac Day with flying Fehi Fineanganofo inching ever closer to the all-time try scoring record for a single season. And it was only fitting that we went to Super Point - with the Reds and the Blues taking it down to extra time in a nail biter. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

The Hundy Club
This week on the pod! It’s no longer a theory - it seems well and truly evident that if you have a player celebrating 100 caps, you’re guaranteed a win! There’s something about a centenary celebration that gees the boys up something chronic. And this weekend was a shining example. Luke Jacobsen got his 100th crown, battering the Hurricanes defences and clinching an extra time win to see the Chiefs top of the table. Finlay Christie’s hundredth saw the Blues hold on for dear life, as the Highlanders tried but failed to get a win. And it was another 100 capper that saw one of the biggest upsets of the weekend - as the Force rallied around Harry Johnson Holmes to topple the Crusaders in Perth, making it two losses on the road for the reigning champions. It’s certainly going to be a doozy of an Anzac weekend at Super Round in Christchurch. We’ll see you there! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Quit Horsing Around
Two major tragedies were thrust upon Super Rugby this week as both the Crusaders horses and Moana Pasifika officially get the axe from our great competition. Is this the future of Super? One axing at a time?In other news, it was poetry in motion as the Canes keep their No.1 status, with a decent thumping of the Blues, as Cam Roigard cements himself as the best halfback - probably in the world. The Chiefs pound Moana into literal non-existence to setup a thrilling top of the table clash next week in Hamilton. And the Crusaders faced the wrath of the hurting Reds side, as the 100th celebration to Filipo Dangunu geed the boys up to a historic win, the first at home against the Crusaders since 2011. Goes to show, anything can happen in this comp! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

It Started With A Kiss
It’s Easter and you know what that means! Only 3 games of Super Rugby? WTF? Weirdest decision since the inclusion of the Sunwolves. The Easter bunny brought a second consecutive thumping for the Queensland Reds, as the heat turns up on soon-to-be Wallabies coach, Les Kiss. Poor bugger. What has happened to the Brisbane men and can they bounce back to stay in the top 6?The Chiefs finally answer some critics with a tasty performance, albeit against a seriously average Waratahs side. And the Crusaders do what they always do - start to push the throttle in when it counts as they absolutely devastate the Drua at the last ever game at Apollo Projects Stadium. God help us when they move to Te Kaha… Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Friday Night Lights
It was lights out both figuratively and literally this weekend as the Hurricanes switched off the Reds like an old lamp and the stadium lights went down at North Harbour Stadium, just as Highlanders started their one game winning streak. The Brumbies will regret not celebrating James Slipper’s 100th game for the franchise, as the Tahs sneak past them for an upset, thanks largely to Angus Gardner. The Chiefs barely scrape by the Force as they still struggle to find their rhythm.Newly crowned Prince Peyton continues to shine in his father’s footsteps as part of a killer Blues backline, and Ruben Love has had a lovely hair treatment and is looking better than ever. Slip It In
This week on the pod, the boys discuss some big wins that are shaping the comp. The Hurricanes continue their habit of whooping everyone’s arses as Ruben Love tears the Highlanders apart - can they continue doing it to the top teams when they come along? The Blues build their momentum with a comeback win in Sydney and some lessons in refereeing from Beauden Barrett. And the Chiefs pull out a Chiefs classic, and throw the game away against the Brumbies in Canberra as James Slipper gets yet another award for something. Hosted on Acast. If you go out in the Rain
Round 5 is done! It was cats and dogs in Fiji, as the Drua took all the angry energy from not being allowed to perform ‘Na Bole’ at the start of the match, to punish the Brumbies - and all because someone up to at Super Rugby thinks it’s too hot?The Hurricanes cruise to the top of the table, but now the hard games start. Can they hold on to their first place spot?Moana’s defence continues to plague them as the Blues knock up 40 at Eden Park. And the TMO might need to do some sim training, as they forget what constitutes a try and deny the NSW Waratahs a chance against their old foe the Queensland Reds. A Hat Trick of Hat Tricks
Round 4 of Super Rugby saw a rare hat trick of hat tricks in two epic 50 point rompings as the Chiefs and Hurricanes taught Moana Pasifika and the Waratahs a sorely needed lesson. And to add insult to injury, Joseph Sua’a’li’i is out for 6 weeks - will it actually make any difference? Two of our most cherished All Blacks returned to the field and made immediate impact - are Beauden Barrett and Damian McKenzie still our best? It looks like it! And there’s one question that needs answering - can the Crusaders win without Will Jordan? All this and a review of that very weird down trou from Salakaia-Loto! Tune in! Hosted on Acast. Fair Dinkum
The Aussie fans are going nuts, as their Super Rugby sides do a clean sweep of their Kiwi counterparts in a rare exciting weekend for Australian rugby. Could we see an Aussie side claim a trans-Tasman title for the first time in 12 years? Probably not. But maybe…just maybe. And if it’s anyone, it’ll be the Brumbies. On this week’s episode we review the round that was, with some seriously award-winning tries, a fair bit of biff, and a fair bit of rain. Can the Chiefs bounce back after a painful loss to the Crusaders, will the Hurricanes be able to play rugby again on a dry pitch? And there’s all to play for in a derby to end all derbies as the Blues host the Crusaders at Eden Park. Will it be NZ victories or will more up the Brum for the Kiwi teams. Hosted on Acast. Gimmie Moor Moor Moorby
Round 2 is done and it was a right rutting in the capital, as the Canes powered up in their bye week to well and truly murder Moana Pasifika for the 4th time in the capital. Fehi Fineanganofo decided to ruin Gareth’s fantasy with a team-effort pass in the in goal, that saw Josh Moorby take a hat trick on his first game back for the Canes since his standout season in 2024.The Chiefs gave the Highlanders a familiar dose of almost, as they powered to another win at Forsyth Barr. And the Crusaders… oh the Crusaders… lost for the second time this season to the mighty Brumbies, who look every bit a championship winning side and are duly doing their part as the cockroach of Super Rugby. It’s a Miracle!
It’s Round One of Super Rugby Pacific 2026!On the pod this week, the boys dissect the first games - equal measures of entertaining romps and snorefests! The previously wooden spoon Highlanders do what few teams ever can, and best the mighty Crusaders. Will they continue their form, or will it be another year of mediocrity for the southern men? And what will they do if Jamie Joseph toddles off to the ABs in a few weeks time? The Chiefs continue their winning ways against the Blues, with some key All Blacks stepping up when it matters. It’s a miracle in Fiji, as super-captain Fai’ilagi takes the reins from Ardie Savea and leads his team to a statement win, including a hat trick of tries for the man himself. And the comp heats up in Aussie, with some big scorelines, setting the tone for what’s to come. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

30 Years In The Making
Super Rugby is turning 30 the Super Smack boys are on the way to the party with at least a six pack of Speights or non-alcoholic seltzer. In this episode, the lads preview the 2026 season, discuss Super Rugby’s evolution, panic a little bit about missing players, overreact to pre-season form, and immediately make predictions they’ll deny ever making. Coaching changes, team dynamics, dedication (or lack thereof) to fantasy rugby - it’s all here. Rugby Was the Winner on the Day
Rugby is all done and dusted for 2025 and it’s been an absolutely epic year - or a rather turbulent one if you’re Razor Robertson and the All Blacks. With a couple of pretty big losses, the All Blacks will be champing a the bit to prove the naysayers wrong with next year’s tour to South Africa and the inaugural Nations Cup.And Super Rugby turns 30 next year and we reckon it’s gonna be a doozy. We’ll be covering all the games, every week of the competition, so tune in! Until then, thanks for listening, and have a happy new year! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

The Lesser of Two Weevils
It happens once in a blue moon - the All Blacks lose to the English at Twickenham. Not since 2012 have the Red Roses secured a win over the men in black on their home soil. And they did it in emphatic fashion as only the Poms can, by singing a well known slavery song at top volume over the haka. A classic colonial move, but boy did it pay off. After a solid start from the All Blacks, the English ran over the top of them, dominating them in almost all facets of the game. New Zealand have had a big old year, and the poms knew it - even Henry Pollock was literally licking his lips at the chance to topple the mighty AB’s. As people call for his head on a spike, where to now for Razor? Will we see him ring the changes for the last test against Wales, or will it be same-same one last time in 2024. One thing we are sure of is… poor Wales don’t stand a chance. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

McKenzie the Brave
It’s 2 from 2 in the Autumn Series for the All Blacks, as they eye the ultimate prize - a grand slam. The AB’s were too good in the end for a valiant Scottish side, who had to drag themselves back from a 17-0 drubbing by half time. But it was one All Black in particular who broke the hearts of 68,000 Scotland fans, and cemented Murrayfield as the All Black’s spiritual home-away-from-home. Sir Damian of McKenzie showed up half way through the second act once again to put on a dominant performance and guide New Zealand to a much needed victory. Covered in blood and black tape, he manoeuvred through the Scottish like a wiley old fox and proved he is the ultimate super-sub and frankly irreplaceable. Can he do it against England? Or will Razor Robertson change things up at Twickenham. The boys preview the upcoming match, the possible lineups and ask the big question - how many yellow is too much yellow? Hosted on Acast. Splitting the G
Revenge is sweet. It’s even sweeter against Ireland. Yes the All Blacks have made in three in a row now against their new foe and it seems like it’s back to the old days. We dissect the mess of a game it was, unjustified red cards and sloppy performances. But there is a silver lining! The final twenty is back and it’s looking as All Black as ever. We preview this weekend’s matchup at Murrayfield. Will the Scots put up a good fight, led by the fishmonger Finn Russell? Or will the men in black be too powerful in the end? It’s grand slam hopes on the line for NZ, and a first ever chance at victory for highland men. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Deep Dish
It’s take two in Chicago, as the All Blacks and Ireland meet for the second time at Soldier Field. Can the men in green bring down New Zealand once again or will a well-honed All Blacks side prove too good, as they look for their first Grand Slam northern tour since 2010. We have a new NPC champion - and it’s EXACTLY who you’d expect. Yes Canterbury have done it yet again - winning a title after a woeful season the year before. The forever kings of rugby are crowned once more - and it’s bloody annoying. Poor Otago put up a valiant fight, but ultimately got dealt to like a naughty school boy. Oh well, there’s always 2037! The NPC has finally reached its peak, as we head into the grand final. And it’s only fitting that the number 1 & 2 teams from the competition will face each other in one last clash. Will the in-form Otago win their first title since 1998 and lock away all the silverware til next season, or will Canterbury do what Canterbury do best, pipping teams when it matters most. Who will win the battle of the South and take the crown as national provincial champion? We discuss the upcoming 2026 tour of South Africa and take a trip down memory lane as we recall our early morning wake up calls from our rugby mad childhoods. Cam-eth the Hour
This week on the show, we dissect a thrilling quarter final round in the Bunnings NPC, as four teams get one step closer to the title. Otago make a clutch play through first-five Cam Millar (and a rather dodgy drop goal attempt) to push out a valiant Mooloos team in the dying seconds. Season leaders Canterbury get the scare of their life from the spirited Counties Manukau underdogs, but manage to scrape a win together in extra time, in true Canterbury fashion. And it’s two wins for the two Bays, as they see out the two T’s - Taranaki and Tasman. We preview this weekend games - who will win the battle of blue & gold and will the Magpies pick at a tired Canterbury carcass and fly off to their second final in two years? Either way, we’ve decided that the NPC is the greatest rugby competition on earth…behind Super Rugby of course. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

On this week’s show we dissect the final round of what has been one of the greatest and closest Rugby Championships in recent memory. The All Blacks managed to back up the Eden Park victory with another win over the Aussies in Perth, making it 11 straight victories over the old foe. We discuss the stand-ins and the stand-outs. Have we finally found our centre pairing or is there more gold to be mined on the northern tour? The finals of the NPC are upon us and it promises to be a doozy - can Canterbury and Otago continue the dominance they’ve shown all season or will one of the underdogs claim the upset. 23 More Years, Boys
This week on the pod, the Bledisloe is back. Well it never left! For the 23rd year in a row, the All Blacks win the unnecessarily giant trophy. And the poor old Wallabies are furious at the ref, who they’re well and truly blaming for the loss. The Springboks are just showing off now, and being a right pain in everyone’s arses by being the best at absolutely everything. The All Blacks still have a chance of winning the Rugby Championship, if South Africa have something go terribly wrong, like, I dunno…food poisoning? How the hell do they bounce back from this one, as they head into another Eden Park defence against the Wallabies in two weeks. The NPC rubs salt into the wound for the Super Smack boys, as Wellington and the BOP both take losses and have their seasons hanging in the balance. There is one shining light however, the Black Ferns are showing us how it’s done, as they progress to the semi finals of the World Cup in England. Ardie Savea brought up his 100th in style with the most epic of turnovers. We discuss his spiritual leadership within the team and ask - should Scott Barrett should still be captain? And who’s going to step in for Emoni Narawa now that Sevu has gone to work for ANZ Bank? The Wallabies get back to the ways of old, with a brave and and decisive victory against the Pumas in the 86th minute. Canterbury continue their winning ways, as the only unbeaten team, and what the hell is happening with rugby in Auckland, as the teams either side of the bridge fail to secure a win so far this season. Will Jordan has his worst game in the All Blacks jersey - and we all thought he was invincible! The Ranfurly Shield is heading off to Hamilton, as one old veteran, replaces another old veteran, to stage a second half comeback in Taranaki. The Taniwha make history but smashing a woeful Auckland side at yet another empty Eden Park. Bay of Plenty and Wellington have fallen off the wagon, and boys are not happy. The table-topping Chiefs pull off a scintillating performance without their major general, DMac. It turns out that Red is definitely better than Blue in a lacklustre showing from the reining champions. The Savea brothers pull on the same uniform and do battle together for the first time since they shipped out from Wellington, the sickeningly slick Crusaders outclass the hapless Highlanders in Dunedin, and the Brumbies have an unwanted visit to the proctologist as Billy and the Hurricanes muster up a season changing victory. The Resurrection
This special Easter round saw this season’s first draw between the Force and the Canes, after an anticlimactic ‘super point’, the Chiefs came back from the deep shame of last week and asserted their typical second half dominance to spank the men from the deep south, the Drua invoked ‘Sega na leqa’ and once again took victory at their hallowed Churchill Park, and the Blues failed at the death to get past a fired up and very mouthy and disgustingly clinical Crusaders forward pack. Full Moon Party
This week’s full moon sees Super Rugby get a little off kilter as the lads both suffer disappointing losses. An off night for D-Mac sees a major blowout in Sydney for the top-of-the-table Chiefs, a struggle for the Hurricanes in windy Wellington against a 13-man Crusaders outfit, several more bins destroyed in the second win on the trot for the reigning champions, and a Highlanders win that’s about as rare as hen’s teeth. Oh, and the Brumbies beat the Reds… Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

A Real Mixed Bag
This week the boys discuss yet another scintillating second half performance from Moana Pasifika as they time their run into playoff contention. The Chiefs have snatched back their claim to the top of the table, the Hurricanes gift the Blues their second win of the season, and the Crusaders pull a swifty and try to impersonate the Fijian rugby team.
