KK WADE spent most of the Spring/Summer of 2024 singing songs from Taylor Swift and Paramore (with some Sabrina Carpenter, Camila Cabello... and a special Roxette karaoke performance in Sweden, thrown in), but you can't expect a Rock N Roll Nigga to only sing a couple of artists for that long. And anyone who has kept up with KK WADE or KKWOD knows that KK doesn't shy away from doing different styles of music (unless its rap... Like I mentioned before, I love Motley Crue, Def Leppard, Dokken, etc., but GOT DAMN its hard to find other fans of that style of music sometimes without going online. If I'm wearing a Taylor Swift shirt... BAM! Instant conversation with most people... most of which being women, which certainly doesn't hurt this nigga. Those who know me know that I LOVE talking about music and with all due respect to 40-50 something year old, sweaty dudes out there who I can talk about Judas Priest with, I'd kinda prefer chicks. Haha! There are also the many, many Swiftie dance parties and karaoke events. I could only dream of there being a hair metal dance party or NWOBHM dance party or something in the year of 2024. These Swiftie events, while fueled only by capitalizing on Taylor Swift's name, offer plenty of opportunities to connect with other Swifties. For example, when you go to regular karaoke to sing a song by a certain group, not everyone is guaranteed to know what or who you are singing. And thus, they won't care and will ignore you and chat to their friends at the top of their lungs while you're singing. I've seen that plenty of times with the songs I do most of the time. But at a Taylor-themed karaoke night, I can sing the deepest of deep cuts (if its available), and lots of Swifties will sing along instead of giving me the cold shoulder. I love that shit. All in all being a Swiftie has been quite an amazing journey, so far... and I plan on telling you all more about it in the future, but for now, enjoy SwiftieMania: The Anthology! - KK WADE, Rock N Roll Swiftie

June 17, 2024 @ Porky's ***** A Word From KK ***** Part 5/6: This Anthology project is somewhat of a far cry from the "Happy Taylordays" ("Swiftmas" was already taken) podcast special I did in 2016. I think that was only 16 or so songs, although, to be honest, that was recorded during the 1989 era, which was over half of her albums ago! But look, Im proud of "SwiftieMania: The Anthology." Its not a professional project, but its mine (🎵ah, ah, ah...🎵), or at least it was. Now its all of yours. Honestly, compared to all of the events, livestreams, fan projects and whatnot that Swifties have put together, this isn't very much. I mean, seriously. Check out the various Taylor Swift subreddits (that I can’t participate in because Im banned from Reddit) to get a look at some of it. Its absolutely incredible. And you just don't see that level of dedication from a lot of other musical fandoms. Thats a large part of what draws me even closer to Taylor and the Swifties: they just don't give a fuck. As much shit as they, erm, I mean WE, get from assholes (some even going as far as calling us a "cult"), we keep our heads up and move on. We can do it with a broken heart.

I felt like being inclusive. Some may even call this a "psychotic" venture, to have compiled so many hours worth of karaoke and to put out so much. And they'd probably be right. Like I said earlier, Taylor Swift brings certain emotions out of me. And those emotions sometimes make me do things. Like I mentioned before, crying is one of them... and a season's worth of karaoke is another one of those actions! Haha! Im only sorry that some of my recordings don't really do Taylor justice. Hell, a lot of them don't. My technology (my phone) is quite limited when it comes to recording audio. Yes, some recordings are plagued by bar-goers not paying the most amount of my amazing singing, but I got what I could. And btw, just kidding. My singing isn't really *amazing,* I'll admit. Haha! Hey, you try singing well when you're doing a song of the opposite gender and when you have a few drinks in ya. Not many are able to Make Karaoke Great Again in that state. But what I decided to do is also include a few songs that I recorded in my car, using karaoke videos from Youtube and the power of screen recording. There were songs that I wanted to do that either weren’t available at karaoke bars or hell, I just didn't have the time to learn them enough to be comfortable with singing them in front of a live crowd, so I practiced and got some cool, chatter-free recordings in my car.

Some Swifties will do *ANYTHING.* From fighting in The Great War against Ticketmaster's bullshit, to finally getting through to spend hundreds (and thousands) of dollars on an Eras Tour ticket, make hundreds of friendship bracelets to trade, to watching a livestream of EVERY Taylor Swift concert, buying EVERY SINGLE variant of a Taylor Swift album, spending a thousand or so dollars to see Taylor perform in a different continent ( ;) )... and so on and so much. And of course, yours truly dedicated most of my karaoke outings in Spring and Summer '24 to singing Taylor Swift and Paramore songs to celebrate The Eras Tour... the European leg, to be specific. I called this trek, "SwiftieMania." From April to August of this year, I went to numerous bars in the Pittsburgh area, and most notably, also bars in Stockholm during my journey to see the Eras Tour, to sing over 100 Taylor Swift and Paramore songs. And hell, I even found time to sing a few other artists and bands besides them a few times.

And ya know, plenty of songs by different artists can bring out different emotions... but I've never felt totally comfortable letting those feelings show. What I mean is if I'm at a Motley Crue concert, and they play "Home Sweet Home," and I'm reminded of when I went on the MKGA Tour in 2017 and began to feel a lil homesick when I got to NYC (yeah, it was a thing), I'm not gonna cry during that show because... well, I'd probably look like a pussy. Lol. But during a Taylor concert... or any Swiftie event, such as a dance party or karaoke, I'm totally comfortable. That might say more about me than Taylor though. I dunno, I feel like if I was at a Crue concert crying, I'd be looked at weird for crying... and probably for being black (lol), whereas at a Taylor concert, I'd probably be consoled... maybe. Haha!

Those were the words I said to a fellow Swiftie while discussing the end of The Eras Tour.  And those words are true.  And don't get me wrong, a lot of communities and fandoms are amazing for various reasons.  I, myself, am a metalhead (you didn't forget that did you?).  I've been a fan of heavy metal for over half of my life now.  Starting with nu metal in 2003/4, moving on to glam metal in 2004/5 and NWOBHM in 2006 and so on and so forth. I've been a mega fan of bands like Motley Crue, Rush and my current number one, Def Leppard... and have been for almost 2 decades.  But I only started listening to Taylor Swift in 2015, not even a decade, but Taylor's music does something to me that no one else's does.  Its hard to put my finger on it. Maybe its the feelings that she can elicit from me.  Im not embarrassed or ashamed to admit that I've cried quite a few times listen to Taylor's music.  "exile" is almost always a tearjerker for me.  As someone with limited romantic experiences, its not a song that I can relate to directly, but the way that the story is told grabs my heart. And one of my karaoke favorites, "the 1," reminds me of my feelings of fiancée's death even though the song isn't about that. "It would've fun if you would've been the one." The same could be said for "marjorie," except that song is about Taylor's grandmother. "If I didn't know better, I'd think you were still around." I also have a vivid memory of sending Krista the music video for "Mine" during the lead up to the rep show Pittsburgh.
