TEACHful
by Will Hennessy and Carolyn Cote
We love teaching in higher education, but it’s a lot right now. There are so many challenges facing teachers, from both inside and outside the classroom. How do we keep going? How do we make it sustainable?TEACHful, our new podcast, explores this dynamic. We’re talking about teaching fully – teaching in intentional ways that support the realities, challenges, and experiences of today’s students, but also us, as educators who are navigating the modern higher education landscape. And teaching fully is also about filling our cups with an opportunity to connect and to share, to hear from other teachers about what they’re trying, what they’re struggling with, and what’s working for them.Want to learn more after the pod? Episode 5: A Mixed Bag -- students share their perspectives on using AI
Episode 5 of TEACHful is a conversation with three representatives from the Algonquin College Students’ Association about their AI use, how they feel about it, and what their expectations are for future use. We really valued this interview – the students were very honest, but also very reflective. Rather than an open-arms embrace of AI, they noted their hesitations and concerns, including a fear of “losing yourself.” On the other hand, they recognized the productivity, the “use it like a friend” aspect, and the potentials for their industries.
