Brad Lambert: The Bullets Saved My Life

Brad Lambert joins host Bob to share his powerful journey from small-town Alberta hockey kid to junior and pro enforcer, and ultimately to survivor and community pillar. Brad describes leaving home at 16, being thrust into the role of fighter, and living with constant anxiety, fear, and performance pressure while wearing a mask that everything was fine. He details the unhealthy coping of partying, addiction, and gravitating toward chaotic environments, culminating in being shot eight times in a Montreal bar. Treated more like a criminal than a victim, Brad spiraled for years in anger, self-destruction, and hopelessness. His turning point came when becoming a father and finally asking for help, entering a program that gave him tools to process trauma, manage anxiety, and let go of hate—including writing and burning a letter to the man who shot him. Brad now lives sober, supports others, and stresses that asking for help is an act of strength, not weakness.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Tear Off The Tape: A New Podcast From Bob Wilkie and I Got Mind

Trauma leaves marks we don’t always see. In December 1986, tragedy struck the hockey world when the Swift Current Broncos’ team bus slid off an icy Saskatchewan highway, claiming the lives of four young players. Bob Wilkie was one of the survivors. Though he went on to play professional hockey with the Detroit Red Wings, Philadelphia Flyers, and several minor league teams, the trauma of that night never left his side. For years, Bob carried the weight in silence. The team was given no counselling, no outside help, and was told simply to get back to work. Like many survivors of trauma, Bob buried his pain — until it began to surface in ways that could no longer be ignored. His journey to heal became his life’s purpose, leading him to launch I Got Mind, a mental wellness organization dedicated to helping others build resilience and overcome their own struggles. Now, Bob opens the door wider with Tear Off the Tape — a podcast where professionals from every field share their personal stories of trauma, recovery, and hope. Launching Fall 2025.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
