As someone who is dyslexic and whose first language isn't English, the idea of becoming a "real" author seemed not just distant but almost impossible. Yet, here I am, 74 books later, a prolific publisher using a tool that traditional authors might see as a shortcut or even a threat: AI.

There’s a strange phenomenon I’ve noticed lately. More and more people, after stopping at a red light, don’t start driving again when the light turns green. Their bodies are in the car, but their minds are lost in their phones. It’s as if the moment the car stops, so does their awareness.This is what ungrounded living looks like. And it’s not just happening on the road.It happens when we use AI, too.

There’s a misconception that AI makes things too easy. That using AI to write means skipping the hard work of writing. But for me, it has done the opposite. It has allowed me to experiment more, take more risks, and fail more often without fear. 

If you’ve ever worked with AI, you’ll know that it operates in a strange middle ground between precision and unpredictability. You give it input, a clear direction, but what comes back is often unexpected—sometimes brilliant, sometimes absurd. Sound familiar?

There’s a hidden doorway inside every writer. Mine was carved from ancient oak, concealed behind layers of self-doubt, years of frustration, and, in my mind, shelves of unfinished manuscripts. I pushed against it for decades, fumbling for a handle in the dark. But one day, almost by accident, it opened—just enough for the light to spill in.That light was AI.
