The subject of racism is triggering and uncomfortable for some white people. Many also hate the idea of Black History Month because many of the stories about the black experience are tied to the racism that’s embedded in systems that black folks didn’t create and don’t control.

Some have crossed the line into affairs and gotten themselves in hot water. People are something else and because of that, our relationships with people at work may be laced with conflict, tension, friction and differences that matter. Currently, the YouTube episode has been viewed approximately 50 million times, and I suspect will continue to go forth and multiply. While most people only focused on the shocking truths that Katt shared and the big balls energy with which he conveyed his truths, I heard some valuable leadership qualities and lessons that every audacious leader should possess and apply. Welcome to the debut episode of “The Audacity to Lead with Miss Handie.” I’ve been surrounded by audacious leaders all my life, many of whom have the same last name that I have. My father, grandfather, grandmother, and uncles and aunts held leadership roles in church and several of them were educators in the public school system. Audacity seems to be in my bloodline, but I didn’t grow up aspiring to lead (or so I thought). I’ve often wondered what causes some folks to lead with audacity while others choose not to lead at all. My curiosity led me to pay close attention to the qualities that real leaders possess and dig deeper into the difference between good and great leaders. Press play to hear: 1.
