A cargo jet with 20 souls aboard makes an emergency landing on the overgrown runway of an abandoned Cold War outpost in northern Ontario. This unregistered and forgotten place is home to a few resilient holdouts who chose to stay even after the war was over, and the planes stopped coming. Two decades later, while on a canoe voyage deep within Ontario's unorganized territories, a photojournalist stumbles upon a drifting John Deere cap, bearing a strange number accompanied by instructions to contact if found. What begins as a spur-of-the-moment search for the owner leads to the discovery of a bizarre oasis erased from the map and a flight that never came home.
