Self-massage and its many free benefits

Why should self-massage be a part of your daily wellbeing routine? It's completely free, you can do it wherever or whenever, it doesn't need to take up much of your time, and it has many mental and physical benefits. In this episode, we explore these benefits, and talk about the use of essential oils with transformational healer Katy Rudland.

Michael Perry - Recovering from acute stress reaction

If you’re into gardening, you’ve probably heard of Michael Perry, also known as Mr Plant Geek. He’s appeared on ITV’s This Morning and Steph’s Packed Lunch on Channel 4, and he’s an award-winning columnist and writer, having published his debut book, Hortus Curious, on unusual plants in 2022. But what you might not know is that he’s also an advocate for taking control of your own health and wellbeing. After a health scare in early 2024, he decided to expand his knowledge and interest into alternative therapies and habits such as grounding, breathwork and even TRE therapy. This is the first time he’s talking about his new alignment with wellbeing, and he shares with us some of his daily practices that help nourish what he calls his mind, body and soul.

What women should know about menopause and osteoporosis

According to the International Osteoporosis Foundation, 1 in 3 women over the age of 50 will suffer from fragility fractures, including hip fractures, which are the most severe. Shockingly, around 24% of women who experience a hip fracture die within one year, and 40% of those who survive lose the ability to walk independently. This is why we need to address the topics of osteoporosis and menopause together, as they are deeply connected to a woman’s health - whether you are 20, 40, 60 or older. In this week's episode, we hear from Katharine Bright, a nutritional therapist specialising in midlife health with a special interest in bone health. Katherine talks about why menopausal women are more at risk of osteoporosis, and what they can do to help prevent fractures and disease progression with positive lifestyle changes, as well as targeted supplements like bonebalance.

Supplements: Are they worth the money?

In 2024, there are thousands of different supplements to choose from - multivitamins, green powders, protein, adaptogens, and more - but do they all do what they say they do? And is it worth investing more money into your diet than into a packet of supplements? In this episode, our resident fitness and nutrition expert, Adam Hart, weighs in on the supplement debate, and we also hear about the types of supplements that you might not have considered, but that may make far more difference to your health and wellbeing than others.

Hyperfocus vs flow state: Boosting productivity

Is there a method of working where you can dramatically increase your productivity and output, while not really feeling like you're working at all? It's called a flow state, and it's often interchanged with the word 'hyperfocus', though the two states are different. In this episode, we explore how to achieve a flow state in order to boost your productivity levels, and how flow states and hyperfocus link to ADHD.

Why haven't we found a cure for endometriosis?

Endometrios affects approximately 10% of women globally, with debilitating symptoms including severe pain and bleeding, mental health problems and infertility. So why haven't we found a cure? We talk to Wellness Coach Livvy Franks (@liv_with_balance) about her personal journey with endometriosis, including her experience with GPs in diagnosing her condition, and Valentina Milanova, women's health expert and founder of gynaecological health company Daye, about what's slowing down the production of a cure.

Forest bathing can de-stress your mind and body

It's true. Many of us have lost our connection with nature. And who can blame us, what with our easy access to food; warm, safe housing; and technology to entertain us? But if you're feeling lost, frazzled, or listless when it comes to modern life, maybe it's time to try to regain that connection. Author and gardener Ellen Mary talks to The Daily Move about forest bathing, a mindful activity that humans have been practising since ancient times. It can benefit the mind as well as the body, and only requires two things: the forest and you. Ready to breathe in those phytoncides?

How to create opportunities for yourself

As a society we talk a lot about saying yes to opportunities when they arise, to not be afraid of taking a risk or stepping into the unknown. But where are those opportunities? Are you waiting for them to arrive, or should you actually create them for yourself? In this episode, we talk about how to generate opportunities, and the different methods you can use to do so, from manifesting, to networking, to skill building. Alex Legouix - Centring wellbeing alongside a busy career

Have you ever been so busy that you've forgotten to eat? Maybe you cut down your eight hours of sleep for a few nights, or your hobbies became neglected? When we're busy, it's not uncommon for wellbeing to slip down the list of priorities - that is, unless you consciously ensure it stays atop your list, as high in priority as, say, a tight work deadline or caring for others such as children or elderly family members. When we care for our wellbeing, we perform better. That's something that presenter, CEO and integrative counsellor Alex Legouix has found during her career. After an accident left her in the hospital receiving stitches, she knew that it was the universe telling her to stop and slow down, and focus on prioritising her health. Here, she tells The Daily Move about important wellbeing habits she’s developed that have helped her progress in her career, the right to disconnect from work, and her upcoming festival, which is completely wellbeing-focused.
