Interview W/Forbidden Origin Comics
In this episode of the Divergent Comics Podcast, I had the pleasure of speaking with Seth Photopoulos, the first editor-in-chief at Forbidden Origins Comics. We kicked off the conversation by discussing how Seth and I connected through social media, particularly Threads, and how he became involved in the indie comic scene. Seth shared the origin story of Forbidden Origins Comics, which was founded by Eric and Armani in Florida, and how they sought to create a collaborative environment for writers and artists.Seth introduced us to his comic, "These Lies End in Death," which is set in a sci-fi world and serves as a prequel to a short story. We explored the themes of the comic, including anti-imperialism and the impact of circumstances on individuals within a criminal element. Seth also discussed the creative freedom he had while developing the story and how the title came about, reflecting the deeper themes of the narrative.We delved into the unique approach of Forbidden Origins Comics, emphasizing their goal of providing a platform for new creatives to express themselves without the constraints often found in the industry. Seth shared his aspirations for the company, including the desire to create a sustainable environment where all contributors can thrive.Towards the end of our conversation, Seth revealed some of his future projects, including a neo-noir racing story inspired by his Puerto Rican heritage.
