The earthquakes are coming - TX Railroad Commission candidate Bill Burch on the crisis and potential brought to Texas by the oil and gas industry

I know I have been absent for a while, but this was just too important of a conversation to have not to make time for it. I hope you learn something, and not just anxiety inducing stuff, but something to be hopeful for. You'll likely recall our recent brush with seismic activity - that should be our wake up call. That's the message candidate and guest Bill Burch is arguing, and you'll be glad someone with this much industry knowledge and experience is ready to push us onto a better path. Sitting at the intersection of spirituality and politics with Presidential candidate Marianne Williamson

This conversation has been a long time coming for me, though y'all may not know that. My own personal journey through politics has not been entirely separate from my journey through personal spirituality. I've working towards helping get El Paso get more engaged, more involved, and ultimately to raise our collective consciousness and address our concerns together. If anyone was ever an arbiter of changing the consciousness on governance, it's today's guest, author, spiritual teacher, and Presidential candidate: Marianne Williamson. I found this conversation to be uplifting and inspiring, I hope you do too.Want to learn more about Marianne?Website:https://marianne2024.com/FB:https://www.facebook.com/williamsonmarianne/IG:https://www.instagram.com/mariannewilliamson/Twitter:https://twitter.com/marwilliamsonTT:https://www.tiktok.com/@marwilliamsonofficialWant to reach me?Email: [email protected]/IG/Threads: @theelpasobeat

Constitutional Amendment brief with Rep Eddie Morales PLUS how you can help fight Greg Abbott's voucher scam

This one wasn't anticipated but was not a ton of work to throw together so I figured, why not? The El Paso Young Democrats hosted a meeting with Rep Eddie Morales so members (and guests) would have the opportunity to learn about and ask questions about the upcoming constitutional amendments up for election. It's useful info, so I'm eager to share it with you allAfter the brief, I did ask Rep Morales to unpack what's happening at the special session, and importantly, how we can help -Spoiler alert - we need to send HAND WRITTEN letters to the Governor's and Lt. Governor's offices. Bury them in hard copy complaints. Make it rain like we're Hogwarts thirsting for Harry's enrollment...you get the idea. Hard copy letters can't as easily be ignored. Demand better for our school system.Want to reach me?Email: [email protected]/IG/Threads: @theelpasobeat

George Zavala on holding authority accountable and where we go next

Probably what will be the political scandal of 2023 for El Paso, the gas card fiasco, is in large part thanks to a humble citizen trying to hold his elected representative accountable. That citizen also happens a friend of mine, and our guest on today's episode. George Zavala has been a fierce advocate for people with disabilities, but his latest journey, he hopes, will inspire and motivate all of us.Want to reach me?Email: [email protected]/IG/Threads: @theelpasobeat

Chairman Apodaca returns for a look ahead at the 2024 cycle

My first interview back is one with a returning guest, El Paso County Democratic Chairman Michael Apodaca joins us to discuss a variety of topics from what went wrong with Prop K and how we pick up the pieces and move forward to how the next Texas Senate Democratic nominee can capitalize on Beto's work from 2018. I will warn you all, I don't have the magic audio editing service I had last iteration *yet* and this in-person interview had some external factors that had me tweaking with the audio a bit so...it's a bit hard to hear. Turn up your volume. Sorry in advance, but I should have the better luck moving forward!Want to reach me?Email: [email protected]/IG/Threads: @theelpasobeat

Don't call it a comeback - The El Paso Beat Returns!

I try and I try to stay away, and...the local politics...it just keeps bringing me back.In traditional EPB fashion, I had larger aspirations for my return episode but procrastinated and am opting for simpler and quicker so, this is what you get. I have some thoughts on Rep Hernandez's gas card scandal, namely where we should go from here, and set some mild expectations for the show ahead. It's so good to be back!Have thoughts?
