Rest with Dawny Hill | Episode 41 | Off the Hinges: Whiskey Chronicles

    “Put your mask on first!”

There are two sides to every coin. Today, I sit down with Dawny Hill as she offers clarity and levity to this ever-elusive coin of rest. This is our last episode inside The Vault for a season. I’m honored that Dawny’s voice is the one that will challenge, comfort, inspire, and linger long after the last spoken words fade. To those who have listened in over the past two years, thank you for letting me be a part of your life’s journey.

Rest | Episode 41 | The Power of Framing

This is the last Power of Framing before I enter a sabbatical for a period. I trust this season offers you rest as you continue to build a virtuous life, team, and culture around you. Virtue is always caught before it’s taught. Rest is always received, not achieved.

  3. 101

Patience with Ryan Tice | Episode 40 | Off the Hinges: Whiskey Chronicles

The pregnant pause. The fullness of time. Patience. Today's virtue holds the key to unlocking transformation. I'm honored to share the story and insight of my brother and fellow Marine Corps officer, Ryan Tice. This conversation is shaped by leadership under pressure, grief and endurance, faith refined through suffering, and the slow, often unseen work of transformation when the process feels endless and the end remains out of sight. For anyone caught in the space between promise and fulfillment, slow down. Sit with us. This one will change you.

  4. 100

Patience | Episode 40 | The Power of Framing

The weight of the wait. This week, we step into patience. This is our 40th virtue inside The Vault, and 40 holds significance. The fullness of time required before transformation takes form. I invite you to explore why patience is often the final proving ground of faith, not its absence. This is not an episode for those in a hurry. It is for those standing in the space between promise and fulfillment. The question is simple, but costly: What character and hope can only be reaped on the other side of suffering long in love?

Prudence with Saragine De Amorim | Episode 39 | Off the Hinges: Whiskey Chronicles

“Prudence is the capacity to sense consequences and their impact, and then choose in a way that protects what is most sacred.” This week, I sit down with my cousin, Saragine De Amorim, for a conversation spanning from Brazil to Norway that is as tender as it is piercing. This is not a conversation about fear or timidity.
It is about discerning when to hold on, when to loosen your grip, and when prudence demands that you let someone walk their own road. From bullying and self-discovery, to art, language, and the sacred tension of protecting without suffocating, Sara offers a framework for prudence that is earned, embodied, and from deep inside the well of the most beautiful of hearts. This episode is for parents, leaders, creatives, and anyone standing at the edge of a season they cannot control, but must choose how to walk through. But most of all, it is for our beautiful daughters. Family. Wisdom. Presence.
This one stays with you. Sara, I love you and am so grateful for the gift of you.

  6. 98

Prudence | Episode 39 | The Power of Framing

More often than not, I find that prudence is provocative.
It gets the people going. What voice is attacking what’s been entrusted to only you, and how do you find it, fix it, and finish it? In this week’s framing question and story, we revisit a moment where prudence demanded decisive action, not silence, and explore why wisdom sometimes requires us to confront the voices that threaten our purpose, protection, and people. This episode isn’t about violence.
It’s about responsibility.
And knowing when restraint ends and action begins.

  7. 97

    Faith | Episode 20 | Back 2 GoOD

In this first episode of Back 2 GoOD for 2026, Fred and I sit with what it looks like to model faith in the space between, when the future is still unclear, and when fear and doubt try to have the loudest voices. Regardless of your worldview, your faith is being formed and passed down as a byproduct of your actions in the home, workplace, and circle of chosen people. From parenting and prayer to courage and conviction, this conversation invites you to begin the year anchored, honest, and hopeful.

  8. 96

Faith with Sandra Marano | Episode 38 | Off the Hinges: Whiskey Chronicles

Welcome to the first episode of Off the Hinges for 2026. I have the profound joy and honor of sitting down with my mother, Sandy Marano. We talk about faith through the lens of family, grief, gratitude, and the quiet strength required to love well through life’s hardest seasons. This conversation is about legacy. About voice. About what is passed down when words are lived long before they are spoken. First for my wife and daughters. And also for the rest of you. Mom, I love you and am so grateful to share your voice of faith with any and all who will listen.

  9. 95

Faith | Episode 38 | The Power of Framing

In this first Power of Framing episode for 2026, I invite you to grapple with how you frame the virtue of Faith. Perhaps faith is not certainty, control, or having all the answers. Maybe it’s choosing whose voice you trust, whose steps you follow, and whether proximity to them shapes how you live and decide. Through a simple story with my daughters and an ancient story of obedience before evidence, this episode invites you to reflect on what faith really looks like when the outcome is still unseen. As we start a new year, may this question linger with you: Whose voice directs your steps and informs your decisions, and how do you know that your proximity to them matters? Welcome back inside The Vault.

  10. 94

Problem Framing with Maida Zheng | Episode 37 | Off the Hinges: Whiskey Chronicles

What if the way you frame a problem is the whole problem in and of itself? In the final Off the Hinges episode of 2025, I’m joined by my dear friend Maida Zheng. From her time as a two-year-old Bosnian war refugee to U.S. Marine Corps officer, to wife, mother, and entrepreneur, Maida’s story is a powerful reminder that curiosity and gratitude shape not only how we survive, but how we lead. This conversation on problem framing is grounded in emotional intelligence, culture, family, and the courage to listen deeply to perspectives different from our own. As we step into a new year, may we carry better questions, deeper frames, and softer hearts. From Maida and me, Happy New Year to all of you across the Foundational Coaching and Opus Blaze families.

  11. 93

Problem Framing | Episode 37 | The Power of Framing

In this final episode of The Power of Framing for 2025, we sit with the virtue of Problem Framing. As the year closes, I invite you to consider this: opening your hands and heart to another frame does not cost you truth; it may be what gives you the wisdom to move beyond making a point and into finally making a real difference. This episode closes with a trailer for my upcoming Off the Hinges conversation with Maida Zheng, where problem framing is explored through the lived experience of a Bosnian war refugee, Marine officer, wife, mother, and leader. Merry Christmas to all of you across the Foundational Coaching family. Thank you for the gift of doing life together.

  12. 92

    Selflessness | Episode 19 | Back 2 GoOD

In this final episode of Back 2 GoOD for 2025, Fred and I sit with the virtue of Selflessness. As the year comes to a close and Christmas draws near, we hope this conversation invites you to slow down, take inventory, and consider what you are carrying forward for those who come after you. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all of you across the FC family.

  13. 91

Selflessness with Matt Bride | Episode 36 | Off the Hinges: Whiskey Chronicles

“The act of selflessness requires on to forsake oneself for the benefit of others. It denotes the idea of helping others without the desire for compensation. Its components are rooted in humility, generosity, and compassion... it’s a discipline.” In our last episode before Christmas, I sit down with my brother, Matt Bride, to talk about Selflessness. This is a conversation about choosing people over pride, obedience over applause, and faithfulness in the spaces that matter most. Matt, thank you for the gift of your friendship and for sharing this special episode during the holiday season. I love you, my brother. And Merry Christmas to each of you across the Foundational Coaching family.

  14. 90

Selflessness | Episode 36 | The Power of Framing

Whose needs drive what you gift the world through your head, hands, and heart? As we explore selflessness, I don’t want to minimize my identity or my place in this world. I want to model this virtue by offering a single question and a photo in place of a story, because this picture is worth more than all of my words and the ones I fail to find. It is the heart of my response to today’s question. And how you honestly answer this question is everything.

  15. 89

    Discipline | Episode 18 | Back 2 GoOD

What excuses are attacking your purpose? In this week’s episode of Back 2 GoOD, Fred and I sit with the virtue that objectively exposes us the most. Discipline is not punishment and it is not performance. It is the daily posture of a man or woman who chooses what is right long before the fruit of that choice can be seen. Drawing from our own journeys, we talk about purpose, excuses, spiritual discipline, and why the small, unseen decisions reveal the truest version of who we are.

  16. 88

Discipline with Ron Montgomery | Episode 35 | Off the Hinges: Whiskey Chronicles

⚠️ Content Note: This episode includes brief mentions of drug use and of a suicide attempt. Listener discretion advised for those under 17. "I have to sacrifice for what I love so that what I love doesn't become the sacrifice." Happy Thanksgiving. In honor of my brother and this week's guest, Ron, I'm sharing a day early. The fact that this man is still alive is one thing I am thankful for each day. His story is one of honesty, restoration, and discipline. What are you thankful for? Drop it in the comments and let Ron and me know. Whoever you are, and wherever you are, you're always welcomed here and your life is always worth it. I'm so thankful that you're here. Enjoy this release one day early. And to Ron, I love you, my brother. Thank you for the honor of sharing this special Thanksgiving episode together for our families.

  17. 87

Discipline | Episode 35 | The Power of Framing

Discipline. What excuses are attacking your purpose? This week begins on a frozen mountainside in a blizzard and ends in the quiet struggle of choosing the right thing when nothing in me felt like it. Through these two moments, we explore where discipline truly takes root and shapes who we become.

  18. 86

    Accountability | Episode 17 | Back 2 GoOD

To whom, and for what, are you accountable?
Accountability is not a hammer. It is the compass that keeps your head, hands, and heart aligned when no one is watching. In this week’s episode of Back 2 GoOD, Fred and I explore why accountability is not a taskmaster, but a relationship. We talk about who we answer to, the purpose behind the gifts and trials we steward, and how aligning our purpose with our practice cultivates meaningful relationships and a life marked by integrity, clarity, and growth.

  19. 85

Accountability with C.J. Santimaw | Episode 34 | Off the Hinges: Whiskey Chronicles

This week, I’m sitting down with one of my dearest brothers and longtime friend, retired USMC 1stSgt C.J. Santimaw, for a conversation about a virtue that shapes every corner of life: accountability. We talk honestly about what it takes to hold yourself to a standard when no one’s watching, how to offer accountability without shame, and how the people we love most often become the ones who refine us the deepest. C.J. brings stories from his home, his students, and the leaders he’s walked alongside, and together we dig into the kind of accountability that grows character, strengthens relationships, and invites real change.

  20. 84

    Emotional Expression | Episode 16 | Back 2 GoOD

Emotional Expression. It is so much more than what we feel. It is how we reveal our foundation and deepest beliefs. In this week’s episode of Back 2 GoOD, Fred and I dive into the virtue of Emotional Expression and how aligning our intellect, emotion, and will reveals the condition of the heart and the culture we build around it. This is not about being emotional or stoic. It is about stewarding our emotion, and understanding the emotions of others, with patience and purpose. It is about leading with a heart that feels deeply, speaks truthfully, and loves fully.

  21. 83

Emotional Expression with Patrick Knauer | Episode 33 | Off the Hinges: Whiskey Chronicles

This week, I sit down with my brother, Patrick Knauer, as we explore the virtue of Emotional Expression. From the Marine Corps to the barbershop, Patrick’s story is a powerful reflection on what it means to lead with honesty, empathy, and courage. From the Marine Corps to the barbershop, Patrick’s story is a powerful reflection on what it means to lead with honesty, empathy, and courage. Together, we talk about the moments that test our ability to express emotion, when silence feels safer but truth is stronger, and how vulnerability can transform not just communication but culture itself. Join us for this heartfelt conversation about the hard work, authenticity, and the quiet strength required in expressing emotion with purpose.

  22. 82

Emotional Expression | Episode 33 | The Power of Framing

Emotional Expression. What story are you telling others when they see your face, hear your voice, and observe you in silence? In this episode, I frame the virtue of Emotional Expression, or practically put, the ability to share what’s real inside in a way that strengthens relationships instead of tearing them down. Through a story about my daughters learning to communicate clearly and calmly, we look at how honesty, empathy, and courage work together to create trust and connection. This conversation frames Emotional Expression not as control or suppression, but as stewardship of the heart. The balance between truth and tenderness. When paired with empathy, assertiveness, and interpersonal relationship awareness, it becomes a critical virtue of leadership and love, both at home and at work.

  23. 81

    Culture | Episode 15 | Back 2 GoOD

In a world divided by headlines and sides, what does it mean to build a culture that we can be proud to live in and pass on to our next generation? In this episode, Fred and I explore the heartbeat of culture, not the kind shaped by politics or trends, but the kind formed in hearts that choose humility, identity, resilience, and teamwork. Together we wrestle with how love, forgiveness, and emotional intelligence can transform the spaces we lead, live, and serve in. From the quiet work of self-reflection to the courageous act of giving feedback and asking for grace, this conversation calls us back to a Jesus culture, one not bound by sides but grounded in Spirit, truth, and love. We discuss how every small act of encouragement, every pause for understanding, and every prayer for unity can create a ripple that reshapes homes, teams, and communities. This is not about escaping culture. It is about engaging it with values that last, actions that speak, and hearts that stay tender.

  24. 80

Culture with Edwin Omanahernandez | Episode 32 | Off the Hinges: Whiskey Chronicles

In this week’s episode, I sit down with my brother and fellow Marine, Edwin Omanahernandez, to explore the virtue of Culture: how it is formed, shared, and lived out through gratitude, discipline, and love. From Venezuela to the Marine Corps, Edwin’s story reminds us that culture is not confined to where we come from but revealed in how we show up, serve, and grow. Together, we reflect on the lessons of faith, mentorship, and family that shape cultural identity and create belonging in a world of difference. This is a conversation about the power of asking questions, the humility of listening, and the daily acts of courage that forge a culture of cultures: one built on foundational humility, identity, resilience, and teamwork.

  25. 79

Culture | Episode 32 | The Power of Framing

Culture. Today’s story isn’t about policies or plans to make your own culture stand out as all-knowing or all-powerful. It’s about how seeking out divergence in people can converge into shared moments that build connections stronger than any strategy. In this episode, my daughter and I explore what it means to empower culture in the everyday, at home, in leadership, and in the way we show up for others. Together, we unpack how culture is not something we control but something we build on a foundation of humility, identity, resilience, and teamwork. This week, I’m asking: “What kind of culture am I empowering, one that seeks division and causes hurt, or one that seeks divergence, knowing it will allow us to multiply more fully together in thanks, love, and HIRT?” Every word, every act of listening, every gift we offer or receive, it all shapes the culture and legacy we leave behind. And thank you, Çiğdem, for sharing your love and beautiful culture with my family and me.

  26. 78

    Optimism | Episode 14 | Back 2 GoOD

In this episode, Fred and I wrestle with what it means to hold faith, hope, and love in a fractured world. From shifting gears in a shifting culture to guarding your heart and mind from noise, we draw on lessons from Scripture, leadership, and personal stories. This is not about shallow positivity. It is about standing firm on a promise, seeing through the noise of the present, and stepping into a vision that offers peace and purpose.

  27. 77

Optimism with May Linn Bie | Episode 31 | Off the Hinges: Whiskey Chronicles

This week inside The Vault, I sit down with my good friend May Linn Bie to explore the virtue of Optimism. From South Korea to Norway, Paris to Uganda, May Linn’s path through adoption, global work, and family life shows how optimism carries us through loss, change, and growth. Her story and wisdom draws a clear line between shifting positivity and disciplined optimism, how hope fuels resilience, and why choosing light in dark seasons changes us and the people around us. Whether in parenting, serving newcomers through Community Services, or navigating cultural transitions, the lesson is clear: optimism is not about expecting everything to go right. It is about refusing to let the darkness have the last word.

  28. 76

Optimism | Episode 31 | The Power of Framing

Optimism. Today’s framing story isn’t about sunny skies or silver linings. It’s about learning from the long, dark winters of Norway and from seasons of my own life when light felt absent. Optimism isn’t pretending the darkness isn’t there. It isn’t shallow positivity. It’s the defiance of refusing to let the darkness have the last word. Reflect on this question and share your thoughts:
What if life isn’t about the delusion of everything going right, but about the discipline of refusing to let the darkness have the last word?

  29. 75

    Flexibility | Episode 13 | Back 2 GoOD

In this discipleship dialogue, we explore the Head, Hands, and Heart of Flexibility and why expansion joints matter not just in concrete but in families, teams, and cultures. From parenting lessons that cut deeper than discipline to leadership moments where trust is built (or broken) by our ability to bend, Fred and I wrestle with what it really means to flex without losing our core. Is flexibility weakness, or is it the hidden strength that makes resilience possible? Together, we unpack the wisdom of knowing when to stand firm, how to flex, and why humility, faith, and design keep us from cracking under pressure.

  30. 74

Flexibility with Jens Janis | Episode 30 | Off the Hinges: Whiskey Chronicles

From childhood memories of life in Germany east of the Berlin Wall to fatherhood, military service, and adapting to life in a new culture, my dear friend, Jens, shares stories that show why flexibility matters in leadership, family, and everyday life. Together, we reflect on the difference between resilience and flexibility, how culture shapes adaptability, and why lasting leaders learn to bend without breaking. Whether in parenting, skiing marathons in Svalbard, or navigating international moves, the lesson is clear: true strength requires deliberate flex points.

  31. 73

Flexibility | Episode 30 | The Power of Framing

Sidewalk cracks, construction work, and a $5 Walmart hand-me-down shirt jacket. This week inside The Vault, I’m framing #Flexibility with a story from my dad’s trade and a lesson I’ve carried into my life as a husband, father, friend, and leader. Expansion joints aren’t flaws; they’re deliberate cuts that allow even the strongest structures to endure. The same is true for us. This week, I’m asking: “What expansion joints do you need to cut into your life so it flexes with people instead of breaking against them?” Join me as we step into the virtue of #Flexibility.

  32. 72

Stewardship | Much Given. Much Required. (For My Daughters, One Year in The Vault)

Stewardship. Whatever notion of this virtue you’ve been spoon-fed…
erase it. It's not just stuff. It's everything... and how you view and manage life's gifts, especially the ones that seemingly should've ended you, is everything. Yes, even when your dad curses you for the last time… even when you clean your buddy's blood and flesh off of his charred rifle... even when Marines slam your office door shut to talk suicide… even when you hand a child his father’s flag. So pour a cup of coffee, find a comfy chair, and remember as I read you today's reflections... whoever you are and wherever you are, you are always welcomed and you are always worth it. I’m with you on your left.

  33. 71

Stewardship with The Maranos | Episode 29 | Off the Hinges: Whiskey Chronicles

In this conversation, my wife (Laura) and I explore the virtue of stewardship through the lens of marriage and parenting. We share personal stories from family life, reflect on trust and encouragement, and highlight how stewardship shows up not just in resources, but in time, relationships, and faithfulness. Stewardship isn’t about control — it’s about obedience, growth, and multiplying what God has entrusted to us.

  34. 70

Stewardship | Episode 29 | The Power of Framing

“How are you gutting, guarding, growing, or gifting what you’ve been gifted to own?” This week on The Power of Framing, I share how something as ordinary as mowing the lawn turned into a reminder that stewardship isn’t simply about what we can claim as our own — it’s about how we multiply what’s been entrusted. 🎙️ And for Off the Hinges this Friday, my wife, Laura, will be joining me. You drive the conversation — so drop your questions below (or DM me) as we open up this virtue of #Stewardship together for you. 🔗 Stay connected here: https://www.foundational-coaching.com/the-vault/ #Stewardship #ThePowerOfFraming #TheVault #FoundationalCoaching #HeadsHandsHearts #VirtueDevelopment #PeopleTeamsCultures Foundational Coaching® Empowering Culture. Ownership | Episode 12 | Back 2 GoOD

In this discipleship dialogue, we explore the Head, Hands, and Heart of Ownership—unpacking why complaining kills progress, how spoken identity shapes your future, and why true ownership demands we question the familiar, explore the unknown, and put everything through the fire.

  36. 68

Ownership with Garita Coddington | Episode 28 | Off the Hinges: Whiskey Chronicles

What do you own that was never really yours to carry? And what should you own that you keep ignoring? Ownership | Episode 28 | The Power of Framing

“How do you challenge what's familiar, explore what's unknown, and intentionally own what's yours—in your head, hands, and heart?” Everything we own begins in our thoughts. If we don’t take them captive, we risk letting borrowed words and false beliefs define us. This week on The Power of Framing, I share a story from life aboard the USS Estrogen—and how the words we repeat, speak over others, and choose to believe can shape our perspective of ownership that we carry for a lifetime. 🔗 Stay connected here: https://www.foundational-coaching.com/the-vault/ #Ownership #ThePowerOfFraming #TheVault #FoundationalCoaching #HeadsHandsHearts #VirtueDevelopment #PeopleTeamsCultures Foundational Coaching® Empowering Culture. Problem Solving | Episode 11 | Back 2 GoOD

In this episode, Fred and I reconnect after a brief pause and dig into one of life’s most universal challenges: problem solving. We unpack why perspective matters, how clarity can shift the way we view obstacles, and what it means to show up with wisdom and humility when faced with the unexpected. From unmet expectations to relational tension, we reflect on how the best solutions start by identifying our role, aligning our mindset, and staying anchored in our purpose. Most importantly, we return to the source—seeking God’s wisdom as our guide through any challenge. 💬 Whether you're leading a team, managing a transition, or navigating personal struggles, this conversation offers a grounded, practical lens for tackling problems and honoring people. 📝 Full episode notes + bonus resource available here: https://thefoundationalcoachingvault.substack.com/p/back-2-good-problem-solving?r=2rfylw 🔗 Stay connected here: https://www.foundational-coaching.com/the-vault Foundational Coaching® Empowering Culture. Problem Solving with Myles Kerr | Episode 27 | Off the Hinges: Whiskey Chronicles

What do you do when the plan breaks, the stakes rise—and the problem is bigger than you? In this episode, I sit down with my long-time friend and fellow Marine, Gunnery Sergeant Myles Kerr. Myles is currently training the next generation of 0369 Infantry Platoon Sergeants—and raising two young daughters. That blend of missions creates powerful lessons worth unpacking. ▶ What we cover:
• How leadership changes when the real problem isn’t tactical
• What parenting has revealed about blind spots and breakthroughs
• When reframing becomes the most strategic solution
• Why choosing the right lifelines matters under pressure

Problem Solving | Episode 27 | The Power of Framing

“What do you do when your situation is unprecedented, expectations are unmet—and your problem is bigger than yourself?” This week’s episode explores problem solving through a moment that surprised me—watching my daughter hit a wall with a simple division problem. What unfolded wasn’t just a math issue. It was a moment of frustration, vulnerability, and reflection—for both of us. She turned to me, and I suddenly realized… I didn’t have the answer.
At least not yet. It brought back something my dad used to say:
“If someone isn’t a part of the solution, don’t make them part of the problem.” Only now, I hear those words differently—not as a warning, but as a call to choose the right lifelines, slow down, and meet the moment with presence. Thank you, Aria (and dad), for reminding me that problem solving isn’t just about intellect—it’s about people, perspective, and patience. 🎙️ Problem Solving | Episode 27 | The Power of Framing

Empathy with Michelle Peacock | Episode 26 | Off the Hinges: Whiskey Chronicles

⚠️ Content Note (Discretion Advised): This episode includes discussion of combat trauma, injury, and loss. If it feels heavy, please reach out for support. You're not alone—and you're worth the care. 🎙️ This conversation spans nearly three hours—and still only begins to scratch the surface. It holds lived experience few have encountered, and even fewer have ever voiced aloud—revisiting some of the darkest and most sacred moments of combat and trauma care from the early 2000s. “Empathy isn’t just one thing. It’s a toolkit. And sometimes, it’s the only thing you have left to offer. It looks a lot like just loving people well.” Before Marines had Wounded Warrior Battalions or Regiments…there was First Lieutenant Racicot and Corporal Marano. To this day, I’m confident there are no books or documentaries that capture the stories of our generation with the same gravity, relevance, or emotional honesty. These are real accounts—from two friends who were there, who carried the weight, and who never stopped choosing empathy in the face of both the biggest miracles and the most unimaginable loss. This week on Off the Hinges, I sit down with someone who’s walked with me through more than just war and wounds—she’s helped mend and nurture my soul. Michelle Peacock is my personal hero, one of my dearest friends, and the embodiment of the quiet strength empathy demands. A combat trauma nurse whose service spans Germany, Hurricane Katrina, Iraq, and Afghanistan—Michelle doesn’t throw her expertise around. She listens. She shows up. She presses in where most would freeze or flee—and she does it all with compassion, courage, and an overflowing well of empathy. Together, we reflect on: 🩺 What it meant to care for someone whose body was broken and whose soul was suspended between war and home. 🤝 What it felt like to hold a hand and whisper encouragement in someone's final moments. 💔 What we did when empathy was all we had left—and it still had to be enough. 🪞 And how we continue to struggle and strive to extend that same empathy toward ourselves. If you’ve ever struggled to stay soft in a hard world… If you’ve ever carried pain that defies explanation… If you’ve ever needed to heal without losing your focus or purpose… This episode is for you. Michelle—thank you for walking back into such heavy and sacred spaces with me.You remind me what it means to love well, serve with integrity, and carry each other through the fire. 🔗 Stay connected here: www.foundational-coaching.com/the-vault/ #OffTheHinges #Empathy #FoundationalCoaching #TheVault #VirtueDevelopment #SacredWork #WithYouOnYourLeft #VictoryThroughHIRT Foundational Coaching® Empowering Culture. Empathy | Episode 26 | The Power of Framing

“What helps you look beyond the surface and meet someone where they truly are?” This week’s episode kicks off our focus on empathy—led by the insight and heart of my 6-year-old daughter. She noticed a boy being left out. And instead of walking past, she stepped in—bridging the language gap, helping him feel seen, and reminding us what empathy in action really looks like. 🇺🇸🇳🇴 Thank you, Alessia, for reminding us that the smallest acts—of noticing, including, and simply being present—often make the biggest difference. 🔗 Stay connected: https://www.foundational-coaching.com/the-vault/ #Empathy #ThePowerOfFraming #TheVault #FoundationalCoaching #HeadsHandsHearts #VirtueDevelopment #PeopleTeamsCultures Foundational Coaching®

Interpersonal Relationships with Willy Buhl | Episode 25 | Off the Hinges: Whiskey Chronicles

🎙️ “I’m at your service—and love and Semper Fi.”
That’s how Willy Buhl (retired USMC colonel) signed off at the end of this episode.
And honestly, that’s exactly who he is. This week on Off the Hinges, I sit down with my dear friend and fellow Marine—a man who’s led in combat, carried the weight of command in the most storied units through some of the Corps' hardest fighting, and lived out what it means to be “no greater friend, no worse enemy.” But this conversation isn’t about medals or missions.
It’s about meaningful relationships—the kind forged in fire, sustained through loss, and honored with a deep and endless love. We talk about the people who shaped him and what it really means to show up for others across time, distance, and life’s hardest terrain. 💬 If you’ve ever wondered what it looks like to lead with loyalty, to live with depth, or to love your brothers and sisters in the fight—you’ll find it here. And to Willy from the entire Marano family, love and Semper Fi to you, too, my friend. 🔗 Stay connected: https://www.foundational-coaching.com/the-vault/ #InterpersonalRelationships #OffTheHinges #TheVault #FoundationalCoaching #VirtueDevelopment #SemperFi #NoGreaterFriendNoWorseEnemy #WithYouOnYourLeft Foundational Coaching® Empowering Culture. Interpersonal Relationships | Episode 25 | The Power of Framing

🪢 What effort are you really making to weave, maintain, and strengthen the relationships that matter most? This week, I’m sharing a story about something that hangs in our home—but more importantly, about the relationships that hold us together. 🧵 From a handmade macramé gift to a note that’s lived on our fridge for years, I reflect on how the most meaningful relationships in our lives aren’t built through grand gestures—but through everyday, intentional threads of connection. 💬 ⬇️ I’d love to hear the questions you want to explore this week. Drop a comment or message me directly—and join Willy and me Friday as we take The Vault Off the Hinges to talk about how real relationships are formed, sustained, and honored. 🔗 Stay connected: https://www.foundational-coaching.com/the-vault/ #InterpersonalRelationships #ThePowerOfFraming #TheVault #FoundationalCoaching #HeadsHandsHearts #VirtueDevelopment #PeopleTeamsCultures Foundational Coaching® Empowering Culture. Hope | Episode 10 | Back 2 GoOD

⚓️ Hope is not a mood or fleeting emotion. It’s an active, present anchor—rooted in future promise, steadying the soul with courage and rest. In a world struggling to find (let alone offer) hope, Scripture lifts it up as essential—“an anchor for the soul, firm and secure” (Hebrews 6:19). And behavioral science echoes the call: real hope is goal-directed, practiced daily, and formed through vision and resilience. In this week’s Back 2 GoOD episode, Fred and I press into what it means to live out this virtue—not just holding on for a better future, but embodying the power to live meaningfully now. Through the lens of Head, Hands, and Heart, we explore how hope is shaped in our thoughts, strengthened through daily action, and sustained in heartfelt connection. 🔗 Stay connected here: https://www.foundational-coaching.com/the-vault #Hope #Back2GoOD #TheVault #FoundationalCoaching #VirtueDevelopment #HeadsHandsHearts Foundational Coaching® Empowering Culture. Hope with Erica Martin | Episode 24 | Off the Hinges: Whiskey Chronicles

Some conversations don't just transform your mind—they renew your spirit and fasten the heart's anchor in hope. This week’s guest did all of these things for me. 🎙️ This week on Off the Hinges, I sit down with Erica to talk about #Hope—not as abstract optimism, but as a practiced virtue that anchors our souls, directs our actions, and transforms how we show up in each present day with a confidence for each tomorrow. Erica (a PhD, SHRP, and much more) is so much more than her impressive accomplishments and accolades. She's a grace-giver, truth-teller, and one of the most grounded voices I know on what it means to lead with clarity and conviction—especially when the path ahead feels unclear. Our friendship and conversations run deep. And this one? It just might restore something in you that’s felt too worn to name. 💬 If you've felt adrift… if your goals feel blurry… if you’ve questioned whether it’s worth hoping again—this episode is for you. Kindness | Episode 09 | Back 2 GoOD

Kindness starts close to home—with how we treat ourselves. Before it’s a gift we offer others, it’s a way of being we extend inward: patient, gentle, and honest. This episode invites us to explore kindness not as something extra, but as something foundational—formed in our thoughts, practiced in our actions, and rooted in love that endures. 🎙️ Watch the full episode now and take a few moments to slow down, reset, and reconnect with the kind of kindness that begins within. 🔗 Stay connected here: https://www.foundational-coaching.com/the-vault #Kindness #Back2GoOD #TheVault #FoundationalCoaching #VirtueDevelopment #HeadsHandsHearts Foundational Coaching® Empowering Culture. Kindness with Bobbie Sue Wolk | Episode 23 | Off the Hinges: Whiskey Chronicles

Some guests are a quick "yes" for podcasts. Bobbie Sue Wolk is not one of them. She doesn’t chase podcasts, although she is invited on them frequently—and honestly, I respect that. She values presence over platforms, depth over display, and she shares her message of loving kindness with great care and intentionality. Our stories are intertwined. Our friendship is anchored. And I’m deeply honored that she chose to share this space with me. This conversation hits different—and you’ll quickly see and feel why I’m so honored to call her my friend. 🎙️ This week on Off the Hinges, I sit down with my mentor coach and dear friend, Bobbie Sue Wolk—a woman whose wisdom has shaped my life, and whose kindness has challenged me to lead, listen, and love more fully. 🪞In a world quick to reward the loudest voice, Bobbie Sue reminds us that kindness—real kindness—is a soul-deep strength. It's the quiet discipline of showing up with gentleness, even when life gets harsh. 💬 If you’ve ever wondered whether kindness still matters—or if you’ve doubted your ability to lead with love—this episode is for you.
