In addition to that Neo shares that she wants to flow her energy and let it grow towards bliss, joy, love, ease etc hence she felt that it made sense that now that she is pivoting towards that angle she neeeds to let go of the podcast and its not that the podcast was not helpful or necessary but it was one of the milestones that was necessary and important for her and the organisation to go through for her to get to a point where she equally own the desire of her heart work that she desires to do. Episode 63: The good news with Neo

In this episode we connect with the Genie Coach herself Ms Neo Nare and as we kick start the new year, she shares the good news with us. She shares that she has been having conversations with her tribe to say they need to co-create a new reality and the foundation of that reality should be love. She also mentioned that the only way this reality can be realised is if we use love to overcome fear, this is because she believes that most of the things we think we hate we actually fear, but given a chance to fully know and understand them, we can make a sound and informed choice and decide if we truly hate them or its just fear making us think that we hate them. The Genie Coach also shared that genieazels (parents) can't always use taugh love towards their genies based on a rational that the world is not a friendly place. She shares that she doesn't understand that why aren't the genieazels becoming a safe space for their genies, that friendliness reference in them because when one find themselves in a dark place that little bit of love and friendliness they experienced from their people and tribe becomes the beam of light. She also shared that she realised that darkness in this world will always be here but the minute one puts their light into that darkness then darkness will begin to disappear. She says people must always choose love over fear so that the darkness in the world will have no power. She went on to share that on the business side of things she has chosen to surrender and let go of control and just let things unfold the way that they should but other than that School Of Primal Healing Arts (SOPHA) continues to grow as an organisation and that we already have a semester worth of Genie picnic dates and SOPHA continues to strive for creating beautiful memories and moments for genies. Yummy Quotes from this episode: Darkness cannot comprehend light, parents should be the light in their genies' lives. Love exists even in the mist of darkness. Episode 61: a call to step up as modern Azels (rents) with Coach Nunu

In this episode we are joined by Coach Nunu who refers to herself as Auntie Nu and one of the reasons behind the name is because coach Nunu is an actual real life Auntie who is also a family coach. She helps people heal their childhood trauma and family wounds so they can experience authenticity and joyful relationships. Coach Nunu works with genies from 10 years and older, aswell as adults who feel like their upbringing and family dynamics are affecting their adult life and might have negative impact on thier lives. Coach Nunu normally works with genies that are labelled as difficult by society however, she shares that these genies are not difficult or they don't have any behavioral problems but rather most of them are genies that have issues with adapting and adjusting emotionally. Coach Nunu also shared that coaching sessions that she provides for the genies is also provided to the Azels (parents) or family units because it is important to ensure that azels also update their parenting skills as their genies are also being updated in their coaching sessions. Furthermore, Genieazels also need coaching because it can be difficult at times for them to genuinely connect with their genies while they don't understand them. According to coach Nunu parenting is a blessing and a privilege because not everyone gets to be blessed with the experience of being an Azel (parent). She also shared that parenting is a big responsibility because one has this soul that is trusted to them to help shape the life of this soul and guide it through life. Furthermore, she shared that parenting is also fun because one gets to revisit their childhood memories because for azels to understand their genies they need to be in their world. Coach Nunu also pointed out that parenting is also about partnership because genies are good communicators and they always communicate their feelings on how they want to be treated and this calls for azels to be present at times so that they can be able to hear all that is said and unsaid by their genies. Coach Nunu shared that she believes that genies come into the world as complete beings and she compares them with gifts that are wrapped and inside a box and that each milestone of their lives is like unwrapping a gift to a new layer of them, as they are making their way to their original blueprint of who they were really called to be. She also shared that as they are developing their characters they go through all these milestones and stages and they should be given room to learn and find themselves. Coach Nunu is making a call to modern azels to step up and according to her this is because modern azels are aware and in tune with the mistakes that their parents have done in parenting the now modern azels and that they know that they have a responsibility to unlearn all those not so positive parenting skills that they saw from their azels. However, coach nunu shares that in their quest in trying not to repeat the same mistakes it now looks like modern azels are scared to parent their genies because they are always scared of inflicting trauma and scaring their genies emotionally. Modern azels are scared of being firm and setting boundaries because they are always scared of the damage they might cause in their genies. Azels need to always draw the line between stepping up and being extreme by always self regulating, what coach means by this is that azels should always ensure that when they reprimand their genes they do that when they are in the right state emotionally, azels should always calm down first before they can address issues with their genies because it most cases abuse comes up when emotions are high. Genies should be given enough room to express themselves and they should feel safe to do so and should also be made aware that it is not everything that they will say that people will agree with and that is also okay. We hope that you enjoy listening to this episode and please share it far and wide. Yummy Quotes from this episode: Be friendly with your genies until they are old and mature enough to understand boundaries then you can be their friend. Real and true love for yourself and your genies is a combination and relationship between stop and tough love. Episode 59: Sedikwa ke ntja pedi ha se thata with the Kgobokoes

In this episode we sit with the Kgobokoe family talking about the impact of raising our genies as a couple. As stated by the setswana idiom 'sedikwa ke ntja pedi ga se thata' which is more aligned to the 'it takes two to tango' or  'it takes a village to raise a child' narrative.  According to the Kgobokoe, parenting begins with the relationship of the mother and father where they illustrate or lay the foundation of a good relationship where they communicate, love and respect each other and genies mimic those behaviors from their parents. They also compared parenting with pottery because a potter shapes, molds and form artwork made out of clay with their steady, same applies to parenting genies need to be shaped and molded with steady hands so that at the end of the day parents get to produce the type of a human being they wish to see their genies become. The Kgobokoe shared that according to them a genie is someone who can say their mind instead of being caged into limiting beliefs of parents or other older people. Genies should be allowed to explore and find themselves by being given space to use their own thinking and question things that are questionable. Genies should be allowed to express themselves in a respectful manner its okay for them to not agree with their parents but should always remember to be respectful. It is important for genies to have both parents parenting them because each parents plays a different role in the genies' life and this also enables parents to share responsibilities to ensure that the life that is being brought up has a fighting chance in this world. The growth of a genie needs both the masculine and feminine spirits because they both play  different roles in the upbringing of the genie.  Yummy quotes from this episode: At times our genies can be a great medicine to parents when going through a rough patch and they also give great advice when listened to. When you need to learn you must teach. I hope you enjoy listening to this episode and that it helps you to be more welcoming of help with raising your genies because it really takes a village. She shared that most adults were never listened to when growing up and they tend to think that's the way to go but however parents need to start listening more to their genies (children) as they are missing out on an opportunity to learn from their genies (children). Episode 53: Moving our feels through yoga with Dale

In this episode we sit down with Dale De Klerk who is a certified yoga teacher and the founder of #Beingme yoga studio based in Johannesburg. Dale started his yoga journey over 20 years ago and amongst his many achievements, he is trained as a vinyasa flow teacher, African memetic yoga teacher training, teen yoga training, trauma sensitive yoga training as well as kids yoga teacher training to name a few. He started his yoga journey over 20 years ago and he says that yoga led him to a much deeper self connection and gave him a sense of calmness and a new zest to life. Dale was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2010 and found that, in particular, the yogic breath was indeed his best friend and healer. He gives more insight on this during the conversation. Dale believes that everyone deserves a bit of space every now and then and within that space a bit of freedom but instead everyone is just so preoccupied with work and everyday life that they haven't given themselves enough time to fully connect with self. He further said that the education system does not allow people to connect to self. He believes that people are being taught so much about alot of  things but nothing about self, yet all people's relations reflects were people are and that is rarely pleasant. Dale says people are not equipped with the right tools to navigate through the not so good days and feelings. What tools do people have to use when they are having breakdowns? He has been volunteering in schools where he teaches kids yoga and says he believes that people learn better when they play. He says yoga creates calmness in people which helps them to navigate through life, so he his dream is to get yoga into more schools to help kids navigate through their emotions and also help them deal with life. Something that Dale wishes he knew as a child is yoga especially as a teenager because that would have helped him to navigate through trauma, hurt and the hurt that he inflicted on people when he was hurt. He shared a  quote that said: " when poison is thrown at us in order to get rid of it, we inflict it on others" and he believes that teachings of yoga such as the yoga philosophy would have helped him navigate through all the childhood trauma and to help him understand that it's not his fault and just go through life with a lighter load. This episode is filled with gems for everyone and will hopefully assist you on your parenting journey. Listen in and leave me a comment in the comments section below.  Yummy quotes from this episode: Everyday is a new day open yourself up to new possibilities and let go of all the trauma and just be in the moment and enjoy. People who live the most fruitful and beautiful life practice peace of mind and gratitude. Do you have the patience to wait till the mud settles and the water is clear, can you remain unmoving till the answers appear. We learn better when we play. People need to allow themselves to feel their emotions and acknowledge where they are in those moments. People need to start practicing gratitude and filling their cups first because you can't take care of others if you don't take care of self. Episode 52: Conscious fatherhood with John

In this episode we talk to John who is a coach, husband and a father of 2. John shared that his approach to parenting is acknowledging that his genies are spirits and their relationship is that of spirit and spirit as opposed to that of father and child. He shared some of his childhood struggles which led to him choosing conscious parenting and the impact role models and mentors had on him when he felt like he was falling apart and failing as a father and a husband. He says all he wanted to do was run. John shared his view on the concept mature masculine and his observation of what currently looks like an anti-men era as the world tried and navigate patriarchy. He also spoke a little about the differences between men and women including their brain functions. Yummy quotes from this episode: Without a solid family structure, men have the least chance of becoming mature. Men and women are different, and the difference is enormous. Mature masculine is quiet feminine (motherly) Take care of your wife first before you take care of the children. I hope you enjoy listening to this episode and that it helps you to consciously parent your genies. Please share it far and wide.   To connect with John: https://www.johntgriffith.com

    Episode 51: Playfullness with Floris

In this episode we are joined by Floris to explore the concept playfulness and how it is not just something reserved for the genies. Floris has learned to take his play ideas seriously and then see what happens. So his idea for this dream is: when everyone on the globe goes out to picknick on the same day, being in nature, being with each other (instead of behind computers, phones, etc), when they share food, warmth, play/sport/make music together then we remind all of humanity what's it about and help to create a less stuff/more presence experiential culture. Floris shared how he never stopped playing and that he plays in his profession and even went as far as inventing his one job title. He had an enterprenuership school which he founded where student entrepreneurs could invent their own business, unfortunately the school like many other could not survive the pandemic. Floris believe that when we play, we become active in it and are in functioning so many levels that can’t be recognized or be measured and that’s why the school seems to have killed play. He continued to say that playfulness allows us to be aware and be intune with our bodies. The school teachers teaches kids what they learned instead of allowing that the kids create and share their knowledge as creative beings. He shared a beautiful life story of how this unfolded for him when he was 5 years young. Play is about communication and consent says Floris. It also helps with flexibility and adaptability. He shared a different perspective of how often we focus on strength to be successful yet he found a way to embody his own weaknesses and become successful from it while embracing and alchemising the shadows. Yummy quotes from this episode: We are all mammals and all mammals play and learn through play. Seriousness is a way to imprison people All children should climb trees Some adults think that children are some empty vessel. I made money with things I am bad at. When everything is taken seriously, souls gets crushed. Depression is often times a lack of play because you ignore the body and stay in the mind. I hope you enjoy listening to this episode and that it helps you to allow yourself to lean more into your playfulness no matter how old you are. Please share it far and wide. Episode 50: Surrendering with Mindful Chat team

In this episode a team of phenomenal women who are friends and business partners sit together for coffee and explore the concept Surrendering. The discussion touches on how most of the time surrendering is explored in a blur and murky sense and often we are not mindful of the fear that comes with it. The team mention in their conversation that surrendering is not about giving up but trusting. How it has an awareness and involves using our senses and allowing ourselves to be present. Surrendering according to the team means making space for what we ask for and allowing the universe to do the rest after acknowledging that we have done our best and put the necessary work (action) in place. They cautioned against the conditioning that work doesn’t always mean masculinity, even rest (feminine) is work. The team ventured into moneyfestation which is part of surrendering and explored how moneyfesting anything requires us to be very clear of that which we seek to moneyfest. They further went on to chat about how we humans are sneakingly conditioned for scarcity from a very young age through games such as the musical chairs. They reminded us that surrendering means living in the moment (the power of now) and also touched on a Steve Harvey’s moneyfestation story around how he aquired land. Yummy quotes from this episode: Surrendering requires us to be magical childlike thinking We think we can control the universe and that’s where we miss the magic There is way more than enough for all of us in the universe If your Why is BiG, the how doesn’t matter. We don’t make time to talk to our dreams. I hope you enjoy listening to this episode and that it helps you to allow yourself the courage to surrender even if it’s by an extra 1% every time. Episode 46: Love centered healing- Onka’s life

In today’s episode, we speak to the Mabiletsa family, they are a tight-knit family who all have something to say in this episode. We speak to Nthabi and her siblings (Mpho, Musa, and Koki) who give us their definitions of parenting and tell us about living with (and raising) a child diagnosed with ASD. We also speak to Onka’s nanny- who is great with him. Onka is an 8-year-old boy who was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) when he was 2 years old. Onka has classic autism and his diagnosis is that he is moderate to severe, nonverbal, and he started speaking at 7 years old. Nthabi defines parenting as making sure her kids are happy, and safe and parenting them differently, according to their needs.  Onka’s aunt and uncle join the call at some point and express how it’s been having Onka around and how protective they get of him and the love they surround him with. They didn’t notice any signs with the child, but on a random check-up when he was 2 years old, the Pediatrician picked up that he could be autistic and referred the family. The classic signs that they missed were that; ‘Onka couldn’t play with kids his age, repetitive behaviour (doing the same thing over and over), and unusual playing with toys.’  Even though there aren’t any cures for autism, therapy helps greatly.  Nthabi even describes how people can be judgmental about a child’s behaviour, not fully understanding that there is a cause and reason for it. I encourage you to listen to this episode, it is a sensitive episode and highly educational and insightful. Nthabi speaks about life finding the right schools for him, medication, sleep, and other vital information. Love, patience, and support have made raising Onka easier and it’s clear how loved he is when you listen to this episode.   Yummy quote in this episode: “My kids dictate the type of mummy that I am in a moment.” If you would like to contact Nthabi, you can contact me at [email protected] and I will connect you. Thank you for listening.

Episode 44: The art of breathwork with Marj

In today’s episode, we speak to Marj Murray, who works for Breathwork Africa, which she runs with her partner, Dr Ela Manga, who introduced her to conscious breathing.  Marj states that she wasn’t aware that something ‘as automatic as breathing', could be changed into conscious action. She then started to understand the need children have for breathwork; which can help children with anxiety and help them get off medication etc. At present, Breathwork Africa has a lot of programmes for genies.  Marj defines herself as a parent to many and believes that the role of a parent is to give children roots and to give them wings and tools to support their growth. Breathwork Africa developed their own methodology called, ‘Threads of Pneumanity’ which is a combination of two words- Pneuma meaning Spirit and then Humanity, as they believe that the wisdom in what they offer actually comes from Africa. One of the concepts is the concept of Sankofa, which Marj describes is a Ghanian word which means, ‘to look back, and pay homage to the ancestors.  This is a wonderful episode and Marj generously educates about breathwork and some of the courses she runs- one of them is called ‘Breathing Buddies’, which is a training course they do for people who work with genies.  Look out for Breathwork Africa’s latest breathwork book that supports genies, details are on their website.   Yummy quotes in this episode: “… We need to remember that they (children) are just little human beings, they have the same emotions, the same pain as us- but they don’t have the brain to process it yet.”   “... The first breath was taken here (in Africa), and that is everybody’s birthright.   Connect with Marj: Website: breathworkafrica.co.za Linkedin: Marj Murray

Episode 43: The genie-spot segment with Khaya

In today’s instalment of the Genie Coach Podcast, we have another genie in the house, 8-year-old Khayalethu London Khumalo. Her mother affectionately calls her 'miss bouncy'. Khaya moved from South Africa to London, England about 4 years ago with her mother.  Khaya tells us about her favourite person, who is her grandmother and that she enjoys spending time with family and doing gymnastics. She enjoys reading, going out, swimming and going to the beach. Khaya is very expressive and clearly explains herself, something I really enjoy about doing these interviews with genies is how unique they all are. She says that life is something you have to make the most of.  Listen to the episode to hear more of her thoughts about life, her favourite book and more gems in this episode. She also tells us which country she prefers between South Africa and England. Listen in to find out which it is.   Enjoy!

Episode 42: Through the eyes of the genie with Zaza

In today’s instalment of the Genie Coach Podcast, we speak to Zandile Mazwayi- Selepe, affectionately known as Zaza. I wanted this interview with her because she taught me the importance of involving your genie in decisions that affect them, which teaches them that you have their best interest at heart. Zaza is a mother to a teen who just started high school, a new wife, a first-born daughter of parents who are both firstborns, a big sister, a travel enthusiast and a friend who is very family orientated and loves hosting close friends and family. She is trained in Media and works as a voiceover artist whose voice work has been both local and international, so you have probably heard her voice on TV or on the radio and on other mediums.    Zaza became a mother just after celebrating her 21st birthday and had to adjust to parenting soon after her career had just begun. Her immediate feeling after giving birth was invincibility, a sense of responsibility towards her baby and the love grew thereafter. These feelings were part of the lessons she calls gifts that she learnt after having her daughter. She defines parenting as a “constant journey that requires flexibility and adaptation”. Part of this adaptation is involving her daughter in life decisions. Involving children in small things such as cooking and larger things such as decisions like buying a new home, shows them you see them as the ‘little humans’ they are (of course using our parental discretion). It also introduces them to life sooner, which is for their benefit.   Yummy quotes in this episode: “...With the little people, the closer you bring them to your real- lifing, the more they can live life even vicariously through you.” “... Raising people is also about doing the uncomfortable things, having the uncomfortable conversations.” I hope you enjoy listening to this episode and that it helps you to show your genies that you trust them. Episode 41: Making your step- genie feel and be part of the family with Ayanda

In this episode, we speak to Ayanda Tetyana, a parent and "parent coach" who has a Diploma in Education and is currently pursuing her qualification in Psychology. Her passion for Psychology helps her understand what parents and individuals, in general, are going through as parents.  Ayanda was a young mom and knows the struggles of raising children with limited resources.  She runs various programmes and workshops and the majority of the parents she deals with are parents currently going through separation- trying to parent through divorce and separation.  One of the workshops she runs is called the ‘Superhero Fathers’ workshop, which aims to encourage fathers to be aware of their massive role in parenting. She further describes the science of a child being raised by both parents and how that affects the child’s schooling, life and the overall function of a father in a child’s life.  Ayanda also describes that parenting is about raising someone who will go out into this world, so being conscious of the “transitional roles” you play as a parent. As a coach of blended families, she says that it is important to build a relationship with the step-genie, by showing them that you love and respect them - even before you can even start disciplining them. It is better to allow the biological parent to discipline them while you’re building a relationship with them.  Raising step-genies requires us to be aware of our intentions and always ensure that our intentions toward the child are good, while not trying too hard- just being yourself- using your strengths to ‘parent’ them. This episode is like a good album, no skipping any tracks, just full of gems so grab your favourite warm drink and listen to this episode with your notepad in hand.   Notable quote in this episode: “Once you start raising your child with their future and adult version  in mind, you are going to become a more conscious parent.”   Connect with Ayanda: Email: [email protected]

Episode 40: Who am I? Episode with Neo, The GenieCoach

In this episode, I talk to you about my general daily schedule and my self-care routine.  It’s almost been a month since I took a leap, retired as a nurse and followed my desire of running my coaching business full-time and building Sopha. I have always wanted time freedom and to give myself permission to see how far I can go with wealth creation.  I’m loving my life right now and the time freedom I have right now- which reminded me of something one of my coaches, Vangile Makwakwa once said, (she was quoting an author who said), “I am whoever I am at that moment.” I am making progress in this short month in my business and have also just hired my little sister as TikTok manager for the business. She is highly talented and is one of the people who made my last event successful and marketable.   Speaking of events, there are two upcoming events to look out for and diarise: 17 September- A picnic at Naledi Farm in centurion- bring your genies 5 November- Black Tie event with your genie at Del Albert Cafe in Klerksdorp. (This will be a collaboration event and more details to follow)   To secure your spot: Email Neo: [email protected] Whatsapp: 0784308172   Notable quote in this episode: “The more I allow my inner child (to) come out and play, the more I'm able to connect with my two genies and any other genie that I am holding space for.”    I hope you enjoyed listening to this episode. See you at the upcoming events!

Episode 38: Genies and pleasure with Vangile

In this episode, we sit down with Vangile Makwakwa who we featured in episode 15. Vangile is the host’s Money Coach and the person who contributed immensely to the birth/vision of the GenieCoach and Sopha. This episode goes live on the day that the genie picnic is taking place and reflects a new journey for the GenieCoach as she mentioned that she finally retired from nursing to pursue a full-time coaching business after 11 years of working in corporate. Vangile describes herself as a traveller and has lived in over 10 different countries. She is an innovator, a foodie, does yoga and is the founder of Wealthy Money, a space for healing intergenerational trauma. She is also the host of two successful podcasts, The Money Magic Podcast and the Property Magicians Podcast.  She runs an academy with various courses for healing financial trauma, has authored two books, recently released a journal and her blog is a generous space of free information about money healing and generational trauma.  She also holds an MBA from the Simmons School of Management in Boston, MA, which was one of the catalysts for Wealthy Money to start. Vangile describes how, when we are in survival mode, pleasure isn't promoted, however, pleasure is intricate to our survival. "In our society, we conflate numbing out with pleasure." She also interestingly equates being held in the company of other women as a part of pleasure, even being cuddled by a friend, cuddling and hugging your children. She adds that what babies love is probably what you as a full-grown human being requires. This episode is filled with gems from start to end, we even discuss food- Vangile is vegan, and she has instituted a 'pleasure practice' for herself, so do listen in. "I started tapping into my own expansion... and then money started showing up for me in the same way." Vangile's extensive knowledge of the nervous system, childhood trauma, and guiding and validating genies comes through greatly in this episode.    To connect with Vangile: Website: www.wealthy-money.com/ Instagram: instagram.com/vangilemakwakwa/ Public Facebook group: facebook.com/groups/wealthymoney Personal Facebook page (follow): facebook.com/vangile.makwakwa

Episode 37: Glamom (Glamourous grandmom) with Pumla

In today's exciting episode, Pumla Bolani, the owner of Abundance Natural Health ZA, joins us as our guest to discuss health, youthfulness and of course, being a glamourous grandmother.    Pumla was born and bred in KZN and is an educator by profession, who has also worked in many industries and has even owned her recruitment company- until the recession hit.    It took the recession and a reminder from God for her to remember her 'calling' in natural healing. She started by studying Ayurveda in India, Thai massage and acupuncture and she still continues to invest greatly in her knowledge of natural healing.   We have a yummy discussion about her natural healing methods and even discuss the importance of chewing your food!    Pumla defines motherhood as a perpetual school where you are constantly learning what your child needs, and that the ego cannot be how you respond to your growing child who is challenging you to change.    We go into the topic of her 'glamourousness' as a grandmother and how she stays so young at heart! Pumla says that one of her secrets to her youthfulness is her sense of humour, the need to relax and not being so serious.    Notable quote in this episode: "A child is joy, and when you stop seeing joy reflected on a child's face, you have to ask yourself what you are doing wrong, rather than what's wrong with the child, because a child is generally happy."   To connect with Pumla: To book a session or a virtual consultation: WhatsApp 066 210 9948.   Abundance ZA address and office hours: 35 Orange Road, Norwood, Johannesburg. Episode 36: Genies and secrets with Casey

In this week's episode, we welcome back a guest we previously had in Episode 5 Casey Blake. If you haven't listened to it, do que it after you listen to this one. She comes back this time to talk about another crucial topic, genies and secrets... Casey is a verified counsellor and a sexuality educator. She runs 'Tools for having "the talks"' workshops for parents, teachers and caregivers on how to have age-appropriate conversations with their children/ children in their care. We speak about a workshop I previously attended, where Casey taught us how to collaborate with our genies by asking them what they think when they ask us questions. A lot of the time genies ask questions to check the information that they have found.  We go into sensitive topics regarding sexual assault and grooming and how it initially includes secret-keeping. Offenders groom genies to believe that if someone finds out they will be in danger, or that something bad will happen. Casey explains the words 'surprise' and 'secret' and how we as parents can be mindful of our word choice when we talk to genies. Casey also describes that we can model friendship for our genies (be their friends), but they cannot be our friends, as they are not there to carry us and help us grow. Children should not be our emotional support. This is a sensitive, but vital topic for every parent. I hope you have "the tools" to have some talks with your genies and please share this tool with other parents who may need it.   To connect with Casey: Websites: https://whatnowcounselling.co.za/ https://toolsforhavingthetalks.co.za/ Instagram: @toolsforhavingthetalks Facebook: Tools for having the talks with Casey Blake Facebook Group: Body-positive parents with Casey Blake

Episode 34: Genies and Relationship Attachments with Jo

In this episode, we sit with Jo Ntsebeza whom I've looked forward to speaking to for a long time. We explore ways in which our parental attachment style affects how we thrive in our relationships and raise our children. Jo has been a teacher, facilitator, relationship and executive coach with over 25 years of experience in assisting people to experience profound shifts in themselves, allowing them to positively influence their relationships. Jo has found that in everything she does, underneath it, is Love and that love moves you forward. She is a founder and director of the Love Shift Academy, Host of The Dare To Love Club and the creator of 'Fresh Start The Love Journey" which provides a virtual platform for people to learn how to 'build happiness habits' and heal from emotional pain and negative patterns so that they can experience greater fulfilment in their relationships. Jo tells us how the fear and inadequacy in her childhood made it difficult for her to find her way in the world.  She explains that inadequacy is an experience that children can have when two things happen. Listen in to hear what those two things are. She further goes on to say that there is no one way to parent and that children are their own beings, with their own journeys. What parents do in the early years matter the most. Lean into your children. Quotable moment: "Don't wait for your child to come to you for attention. Initiate that attention every single day. Put it in your diary, even if it is only 15 minutes". Listen and share your goosebump moments from this interview, I'd love to hear from you.   To connect with Jo: Facebook: Love Shift Live with Jo Instagram: @LoveShiftLive Website: http://www.LoveShiftLive.com/

Episode 33: Rethinking parenting with Marilu

In this episode, we have another fury-azel Marilu who was in Episode 12 talking about reparenting the inner genie.  Marilu Gabba is a certified Sex, Love & Relationship coach. She mostly works with women on their relationship with themselves; self-love, self-worth, putting yourself first etc. All the inner limiting beliefs that we carry as women. She also works with couples and thinks that couples coaching is very relevant to the topic we're discussing in this episode, as many of the couples she's working with are parents. People come for coaching for their intimate lives and what Marilu has found, is that it usually comes down to their communication patterns as a couple.  We discuss how we can rethink parenting as people who are parenting genies growing up in a different world to the one we were raised in. Marilu gives a beautiful answer to that bringing us back to Maslow's hierarchy of needs [13:46].  The responsibility for emotional management is on the parent and it is our responsibility to know how to reparent our inner child so that they are not the ones raising our genies. Parents model emotional regulation to their children who don't yet know how to regulate their own emotions.   This episode is filled with gems for everyone and will hopefully assist you on your parenting journey. Episode 30: Nurturing the nurturer with Jeanette

In this episode, we talk to Jeannete Raletooane-Delaney who is a mom of 2 and so passionate about self-care for the genie nurturers. We talk about how it is so easy to neglect ourselves for the genies and how that impact the overall well-being of the family. Jeannete is an artist, adventurous, spontaneous and a lover of life. If she had to choose one lesson that she has taken away as a golden winner thus far, the one that really rises above the rest is the importance of Holistic Wellness. Jeannete knows there are just so many layers to those two words but, personally, it means to completely, intentionally, consciously love herself. It means to choose herself each and every single day in her best and worst moments. It all starts with love. Once you get that right Jeannete believes you also accept yourself completely. If she chooses herself and chooses to love herself then, she will prioritize herself with ease and guilt-free, prioritize self-care and actually give herself the time of day and all the grace she needs. One step at a time.   She hopes that you too will find your meaning of Holistic Wellness for yourself 🙂. Hope you find balance in your life and go through every experience that’s thrown your way as you navigate your journey with love and gratitude. Love & Light.   To connect with Jeanette: Facebook: Jeanette Raletooane Instagram: @Jeanetteraletooane Website: www.mothers-nurture.com Email: [email protected] and [email protected]
