014. Become the Prize
In this episode of The Heroes Show I dive deep into the concept of 'becoming the prize.' I explaining that focusing on self-improvement, self-mastery, and becoming the best version of oneself is the key to naturally attracting the right partner, specifically addressing men's pursuits in the dating world. The one who is pursued and has the power to choose, rather than being solely focused on chasing women. I discuss how men often get caught up in proving their dating prowess, impressing friends, and revolving their lives around attracting partners without focusing on their own self-improvement and dreams. I highlight the misconception that self-improvement is merely a means to attract women; and that some men who succeed in attracting partners often let other aspects of their lives slide, which leads to a lack of respect in their relationships and even troubled marriages. Self-improvement should not be solely about attracting a romantic partner but is about leading a fulfilling and meaningful life, making oneself proud, and setting an example. I provide reasons why shifting focus from chasing girls to chasing mastery and self-improvement is beneficial. The episode's central message encourages listeners to focus on self-improvement and becoming the best version of themselves, which naturally attracts the right partners and enriches their lives. Thank you for tuning in. If you found this episode valuable, please share it with others. We'll be back soon with more insights and stories to empower you on your journey. 013. There is Always a Price to Pay
In this episode of The Heroes Show I share some much-needed clarity in our fast-paced world. In a society that often emphasises relentless productivity and perfection, it's crucial to acknowledge that we can't be everywhere at once, and everyone has to make sacrifices. The reality is simple: if you pour all your time and energy into one aspect of your life, something else will inevitably suffer. I've experienced this firsthand, committing wholeheartedly to my goals and thinking that nothing else would have to give. But something always did, whether it was my health, relationships, friendships, or even my mental well-being. The key message here is that everyone makes sacrifices. Those promoting unrealistic lifestyles of perfection, where you wake up every day and are endlessly productive, are selling a dream that's unattainable and unsustainable. Life is not about perfection; it's about balance. It's about recognizing that there are times when you need to put in extra effort, but there are also times when you need to rest, recharge, and pay attention to the other aspects of your life that matter. So, why am I sharing this with you? Because you should have more realistic expectations about what you can achieve in a day. You don't need to buy into the pressure of constant productivity. Society often emphasizes perfection and success without acknowledging that mistakes and setbacks are a natural part of life. Embrace your imperfections, learn from your mistakes, and be kind to yourself. Thank you for tuning in. If you found this episode valuable, please share it with others. We'll be back soon with more insights and stories to empower you on your journey. Until then, stay focused and find balance in your life. 012. Learning from Failure
In this episode of 'The Heroes Show,' I delve into a topic that's often shrouded in fear but is actually a crucial part of any success story: Failure. I kick things off by sharing a personal anecdote about my own struggles with failure in school, relationships, and business ventures. Despite my past setbacks, I embarked on a new challenge, determined to keep pushing forward, no matter how many times I failed or got rejected. I transition to the central theme of the episode: "How not to fail at failing." I emphasise that failure alone won't guarantee growth or progress; it's essential to learn from our failures and setbacks. I outline three reasons for shifting our perspective on failure. I provide a framework for applying these principles to two distinct scenarios. In conclusion, I stress that failure isn't the end of one's story but rather a stepping stone toward success. It should not define you but should serve as a learning opportunity. Thank you for tuning in to this episode of The Heroes Show. Nelson emphasizes the need for self-reliance and setting goals that align with personal values and principles. 09. Be a ‘G’ like Tom
In this episode of The Heroes Show I share a remarkable story about someone I truly admire, Tom. Tom, a good friend, father, and husband, has been an unsung inspiration to me over the years. Working together at Fitness First in Australia, I saw firsthand how his journey unfolded, and it left a lasting impact on me. I delve into the concept of the Hero's Journey, a metaphorical path of self-discovery and transformation for men. From the call to adventure to trials and tests, allies and mentors, and facing the abyss, each stage offers valuable lessons for personal growth. Men, like Tom, who embark on the Hero's Journey often face resistance, doubts, and fears. However, it is in these moments that we must take the leap and leave our comfort zones to discover new aspects of ourselves. 08. Impulse Control
In this episode of The Heroes Show I delve into the concept of 'Impulse Control' and its impact on personal growth and mindset. I share a personal story of how I persevered to achieve my goals despite facing numerous challenges and temptations along the way. Impulse control refers to the ability to resist immediate gratification and make conscious choices aligned with long-term goals and values. It involves staying focused on one's vision and not being driven solely by momentary desires. I draw a parallel between impulse control and a sweat lodge experience where resisting the urge to leave the tent mirrored the inner struggle of resisting impulses in life. Successful individuals possess impulse control, enabling them to make deliberate choices that align with their values and long-term objectives. It allows them to exercise self-respect and self-esteem, ultimately leading to a sense of true freedom. Living in alignment with our values is essential for achieving clarity and purpose in life. By uncovering and prioritizing our values, we can make decisions that resonate with our core beliefs, thus experiencing a sense of fulfilment. As I conclude the episode, I leave the audience with three reflective questions: What are the triggers that make you lose control? Are you making choices today that lead you closer to the life you envision for yourself? Are you willing to embrace discomfort and delayed gratification for the sake of long-term success and fulfilment? These questions serve as a guide for embracing impulse control and making conscious decisions that contribute to personal growth and fulfilment. Remember, it's never too late to make a change. 07. Create Your Own Luck
In this episode of The Heroes Show, I open up about my personal journey and the importance of believing in oneself, even when others don't. I share how I struggled academically, dropped out of school, and worked in various jobs without finding inspiration. However, deep down, I knew I was meant for more, and I decided to make a change. I emphasize the importance of valuing the intangible aspects of life, such as health, relationships, and personal growth, over material possessions. These intangible aspects are often overlooked but play a significant role in our overall well-being and fulfilment. I encourage listeners to acknowledge the need for change, set clear goals, prioritize self-improvement, and take action to create a better future for themselves. By doing so, they will attract the right people and opportunities into their lives. 06. Karmic Debt: 'The sins of the Father...'
In this episode of the The Heroes Show, I delve into the concept of karmic debt and its profound impact on our lives and the lives of our children. I begin by sharing a personal story from a therapy session, that made me reflect on my own experiences. When I was asked a crucial question that changed my perspective: 'If I were to send your son back in time and put him through all the experiences you went through, would you be comfortable?' Sons often look for a male figure to emulate, while daughters establish their standards based on their relationship with their own fathers. Therefore, it becomes crucial for us to examine the karmic debt we carry and its potential effects on our children's lives. Karmic debt refers to the accumulation of negative energy resulting from past misdeeds and the consequences or effects of our actions that can transcend lifetimes. It is like a mark or imprint left by our deeds, which can be positive or negative. Sometimes, the things we do have long-lasting consequences that extend beyond our current existence, creating a debt we must repay. To break the cycle of karmic debt, we must confront and resolve our own unresolved issues. Understanding the influence of our childhood experiences on our adult lives is vital. Breaking the chains of unresolved issues and karmic debt brings numerous benefits. Are we willing to burden our children with the weight of our unresolved issues, or are we ready to break the chains and create a brighter future for them?
