How to save North West cricket
When Ireland recently played a men's game in Bready for the first time since 2021, no local player from the North West was in the squad. Their interpro team, the Warriors was bowled out for 66 in their last game. Fewer clubs from the North West feature in the business end of the Irish Senior Cup. Has cricket in the island's smallest region fallen off from its heyday? This is the league which once lured Kapil Dev and Shoaib Akhtar as overseas pros after all. In a special episode, Ally McCalmont sits down with North West stalwarts Barry Chambers and Lawrence Moore to discuss the cricket's health in the region. We all remember Carlos Brathwaite's name, thanks in large part to Ian Bishop's memorable commentary of the final over heroics that saw Brathwaite guide the West Indies to the 2016 T20 World Cup.
