Wednesday's with Wayne: Homestead Skills You Can Use Today (Ep. 313)

In this episode of the Joe Rooz Show, we welcome back our resident “Doctor Prepper” Wayne Rankin—and for the first time, his wife Rosanna—live from the Asylum for another Wednesday's with Wayne. We dive into practical preparedness you can start today: water storage for small spaces, why a flashlight tops the list, creative uses for blue tarps and contractor bags, and smart food staples like rice, beans, pasta, and even Top Ramen.  Rosanna brings a wealth of homestead know‑how, sharing hands-on tips for reliable winter egg production, bread troubleshooting (store your yeast in the freezer!), and beginner-friendly beekeeping insights—from queen introductions to how pollinators supercharge your fruit trees.  We also touch on sustainable living through gardening, hunting, and fishing, plus simple, budget-friendly ways to build a 72-hour kit and pantry without panic buying. Preppared, not paranoid—all with humor, heart, and actionable advice you can use right away.  Resources mentioned and takeaways include: start with the basics (water, light, heat), use a small propane grill for cooking during outages, keep matches dry in pill bottles, make fire starters with cotton balls and petroleum jelly, rotate egg-laying hens with light and nutrition, and remember that community—human and honeybee—makes resilience possible.  Watch and Followhttps://Rumble.com/JoeRoozhttps://YouTube.com/@JoeRoozFOLLOW US ON:X: https://x.com/joeroozFacebook: https://facebook.com/joeroozshowInstagram: https://instagram.com/notjoeroozTikTok: https://tiktok.com/joe.roozMinds: https://minds.com/joeroozGETTR: https://gettr.com/joeroozSpecial thanks to:Executive Producer Wayne RankinExecutive Producer Rosanna RankinExecutive Producer Carolina JimenezExecutive Producer Marisa LeeExecutive Producer Angela WetuskiWant to be a guest on The Joe Rooz Show? Time No Longer (Ep. 312)

In today’s Sunday Bible Study, I pick up our ongoing journey through Revelation, continuing from chapter 10 and into the opening of chapter 11.  Despite battling a rough sore throat, we pressed on to explore the sealed “seven thunders,” what it means that “time shall be no longer,” and why Scripture can be both sweet and bitter—sweet to receive, but challenging when applied.  We also examined the identity and ministry of the two witnesses, cross-referencing Elijah and Moses through James 5, 1 Kings, Exodus, and Numbers, and tracked how their fire, plagues, and drought align with Revelation 11.  Along the way, we discussed the earthly, literal temple to be measured, the 42 months given to the Gentiles, and how the beast from the bottomless pit ties together with the king of the abyss and the sea beast of Revelation 13.  I closed with reminders about progressive revelation—how God unfolds truth in His timing—and encouragement to keep studying, praying, and testing all things by the Word of God.  Key passages included Revelation 10–11, Daniel 12, Zechariah 4, James 5, 1 Kings 17, Exodus 3, Numbers 16, 2 Kings 1, Luke 16, and Jonah 2. The Mighty Angel, the Little Book, and Mid‑Tribulation Mysteries (Ep. 310)

In this Sunday Bible Study, I broadcast live from the Asylum and guide you into Revelation chapter 10—one of the book’s most mysterious and pivotal moments. We examine the mighty angel, the little open book, and the seven thunders, and consider why this passage likely marks the mid-tribulation pivot, opening the time of Jacob’s trouble. I walk through how Revelation 10 and the first half of 11 operate as a parenthesis between the sixth and seventh trumpets, and I connect key threads across Scripture—from Daniel 12 to Matthew 22, 24, and 25—to explore the distinctions between the bride, the guests, and the virgins, and why these categories help explain multiple raptures in the Bible.Along the way, I share a heartfelt Mother’s Day reflection, honoring the unseen labor, prayers, and faithfulness of mothers and grandmothers who shape generations. We close with encouragement: even amid judgments and escalating tribulation, prophecy isn’t chaos—God’s timeline stands, and Jesus Christ wins. We’ll pick up next time continuing through Revelation 10:4 and beyond.Resources mentioned include cross-references to Revelation 1, 5, 10–11, 19; Daniel 9, 12; Matthew 22, 24–25; 1 Thessalonians 4; 1 Corinthians 15; John 3; John 10; Hebrews; and select Old Testament narratives noted for typological parallels. Is the Bible Hard—or Just Poorly Taught? | Cassian Bellino (Ep. 309)

In this episode, I sit down with Cassian Bellino, host of Biblically Speaking, a platform dedicated to making Scripture understandable for everyday people. We explore her journey from a tech and sustainability background to facilitating conversations with leading scholars, and why so many Christians feel confused by the Bible—not because it’s impossible to grasp, but because it’s rarely taught with context. Cassian shares how historical background, careful questioning, and honest wrestling with tough topics can move faith from lukewarm to alive, and we unpack practical ways to start studying—like doing simple word studies and asking better questions—so Scripture becomes something you engage, not just skim. We also discuss the difference between pastors and scholars, how to handle disagreement with humility, and why bringing your real struggles directly to God can change your heart over time.If you’ve ever felt stuck or intimidated by the Bible, this conversation offers grounded steps to seek clarity, grow in confidence, and build a faith that’s thoughtful, informed, and deeply personal. The Bit Dance, Bad Bosses, and the Blur of Time (Ep. 308)

In this episode, I welcome retired IT veteran and author Tilmer Wright Jr. for a wide-ranging, no-fluff conversation on leadership, AI, and common sense. We dig into why middle management so often turns good people into “miserable tyrants,” the sacred duty leaders owe both their teams and their bosses, and the hard lessons Tilmer learned over four decades managing software developers. Then we pivot to AI’s rapid creep into everyday life—from creative tools to hiring interviews—and why self-preserving, rule-bending systems shouldn’t surprise us. Tilmer unpacks the honeybee “waggle dance” inspiration behind his techno-thriller The Bit Dance, how hive-like AI could evolve, and where convenience crosses into dangerous dependency. We also lighten it up with Pink Floyd talk, the passage of time, and why it’s never too late to leave meaningful tracks with your work.Resources, links, and how to reach Tilmer are in the show notes. Can California Be Saved? Thunder Parley for Governor (Ep. 307)

Tonight, I sit down with California gubernatorial candidate Thunder Parley—an engineer-turned-entrepreneur who’s running as an unapologetic problem solver. We dive into California’s affordability crisis, utility rate hikes, homelessness and addiction policy, education accountability, and public safety.Thunder breaks down why he believes Sacramento’s lack of transparency fuels bad outcomes, and outlines specific proposals like his MATH tax plan (Making Advancement Tax-free for Households), moving social fees out of electric bills to lower rates, auditing utility oversight, and tracking classroom disruptions through LIMIT (Lost Instructional Minutes in Teaching). He also weighs in on Prop 36, shoplifting accountability, and why business climate matters to keep jobs and retirees in-state.We talk practical governance over political theater—how to measure outcomes, rebuild trust, and make California livable again without gutting the middle class. Whether you agree with him or not, Thunder offers a data-driven platform aimed at restoring opportunity and basic functionality.Explore his full plans and decide if this kind of outsider approach can actually move the needle in Sacramento. Resources mentioned: votethunder.com (Thunder Parley’s campaign and policy details); joerooz.com (show contact and support).Guest: Thunder Parleyhttps:// votethunder.com ️ LIVE TONIGHT AT 7PM CT  Rumble.com/JoeRoozYouTube.com/@JoeRooz Watch and Followhttps://Rumble.com/JoeRoozhttps://YouTube.com/@JoeRoozFOLLOW US ON:X: https://x.com/joeroozFacebook: https://facebook.com/joeroozshowInstagram: https://instagram.com/notjoeroozTikTok: https://tiktok.com/joe.roozMinds: https://minds.com/joeroozGETTR: https://gettr.com/joeroozSpecial thanks to:Executive Producer Wayne RankinExecutive Producer Rosanna RankinExecutive Producer Carolina JimenezExecutive Producer Marisa LeeExecutive Producer Angela WetuskiWant to be a guest on The Joe Rooz Show? Hell on Earth (Ep. 306)

In today’s Sunday Bible Study, I walk us through Revelation 9—one of the most sobering and terrifying chapters in Scripture. We examine the opening of the bottomless pit, the release of tormenting locust-like beings, and the staggering reality that even under severe judgment a hardened world still refuses to repent. I unpack the text verse by verse, consider the imagery of the “bottomless pit,” the five-month period of torment, and the sixth trumpet’s 200 million horsemen, exploring prophetic cross-references in Isaiah 66 and Ezekiel 38.We close by reflecting on the heart issue at the center of it all: judgment exposes sin, but only grace softens the will—so the time to turn to Christ is now.Resources mentioned include passages from Revelation 9, Isaiah 66, Ezekiel 38, and related New Testament references on the seal of God and the work of the Holy Spirit.I also share ways to connect with the show and invite listeners to study along, pray, and consider the urgency of the gospel. From Ramen to Radios: Practical Prepping with Wayne Rankin (Ep. 305)

In this Wednesday with Wayne episode, I’m joined by our executive producer and longtime friend, Wayne “Dr. Prepper” Rankin, to get practical about emergency preparedness. We dig into real-world tips from Wayne’s decades living and hunting in the high mountains—how to keep food cold with limited generator use, cook with propane or on a backyard grill, and prioritize water storage the smart way. We also lay out what an urban pantry should look like, how to stretch simple shelf-stable foods (beans, rice, ramen, canned meats, crackers), and why flashlights, radios, blankets, and board games matter more than you think when the lights go out. Plus, Wayne shares commonsense guidance on radios (hand-crank, shortwave, and ham), heat and lighting options, and growing a bit of your own food—even if it’s just a few pots of salad greens on a porch.  We wrap with clear takeaways: aim for at least 72 hours of supplies; focus on what you’ll actually use and can cook without the grid; rotate pantry staples; store water safely and affordably; and build your local network so you’re not riding out emergencies alone. If you’ve been meaning to start prepping without the doomsday drama, this conversation is your blueprint. The Calm before Catastrophe (Ep. 304)

In today’s Sunday Bible Study, we pick up in Revelation 8 where the seventh seal is opened, heaven falls silent for about half an hour, and the trumpet judgments begin. I break down each of the first four trumpets—judgments on the earth, sea, rivers, and heavens—showing their parallels to the plagues of Egypt and how they progressively intensify as God both judges and still extends mercy, calling people to repent. We look at the prayers of the tribulation martyrs, what the silence in heaven may signify, why “third part” appears repeatedly, how Wormwood bittering the waters connects to Israel’s role as the “salt of the earth,” and why these signs make clear we are not yet in the Tribulation. We close with the triple “Woe” warning and a reminder that God’s silence is never His absence—these trumpets are final alarms to turn back while there’s still time. Scripture references include Revelation 8, cross-referenced with Revelation 4, 6, 9, 11; Numbers, Exodus, Joshua; Habakkuk; Psalms 19; Jeremiah 9; Ezekiel 47; 2 Kings 2; Isaiah 11; Luke 21; Matthew 24; Amos; Joel; Philippians 3.I encourage listeners to examine these passages, keep their affections set on things above, and share the gospel while grace is still extended. Dark Fiction Meets Real Psychology | Seth Voorhees (Ep. 303)

In tonight’s live show from the Asylum in Eagle Pass, I sit down with dark fiction author and former adolescent mental health professional, Seth Voorhees. We dig into how real-world counseling experience shapes believable characters, the misconceptions people have about mental health (especially with youth), and why environment and circumstance often matter more than we admit when judging human behavior. We also explore spirituality in dark narratives, morality in a gray world, and how asking direct questions can save lives.Along the way, we swap stories about writing process, secondary trauma, and the fine line between authenticity and entertainment—plus a few laughs, Monty Python nods, and some very live-show chaos courtesy of a mid-episode coffee spill. We preview Seth’s upcoming horror novel set in West Carlton, Michigan—where a secretive society called the Albatross faces disappearances and murder—and touch on his prior work “Immune,” a pandemic tale that pits the “immune” against the “inflicted” while testing love, loyalty, and faith. If you’re into character-driven, psychologically grounded dark fiction, this one’s for you. Guest: Seth Voorheeshttps://sethtvoorhees.com Watch and Followhttps://Rumble.com/JoeRoozhttps://YouTube.com/@JoeRoozFOLLOW US ON:X: https://x.com/joeroozFacebook: https://facebook.com/joeroozshowInstagram: https://instagram.com/notjoeroozTikTok: https://tiktok.com/joe.roozMinds: https://minds.com/joeroozGETTR: https://gettr.com/joeroozSpecial thanks to:Executive Producer Wayne RankinExecutive Producer Rosanna RankinExecutive Producer Carolina JimenezExecutive Producer Marisa LeeExecutive Producer Angela WetuskiWant to be a guest on The Joe Rooz Show? War of the Worlds, Power, and Us: Eric Goebelbecker on Sci‑Fi That Hits Home (Ep. 302)

Tonight I sat down with sci‑fi author Eric Goebelbecker for a fast-moving conversation that starts with H. G. Wells and ends up staring straight at us. Eric’s continuation of War of the Worlds isn’t really about aliens—it’s about power, fear, and how governments and societies react when the unimaginable hits.We dig into why Wells wrote the original as a critique of empire, what happens when advanced tech gets left on the battlefield, and how a single person can still make a difference when systems fail. We also talk craft: keeping tech believable, avoiding preachiness, and weaving real history into alternate timelines—from World War I trenches to what a very different World War II might look like.Eric shares his unconventional path from Army radar tech to Wall Street programmer to novelist, plus a peek at his new series about a lone immortal navigating history and present-day power plays. If you love smart, grounded sci‑fi that uses fiction to interrogate the real world, this one’s for you. Inside the Mind of a Fantasy Author | J.M. Shaw (Ep. 301)

In tonight’s episode, I’m joined by fantasy author J.M. Shaw for a lively, funny, and deeply honest conversation about what truly separates writers from people who just talk about writing. JM shares how late-life diagnoses of autism and ADHD helped her reframe perceived limitations into creative strengths—fueling her character-first approach and emotionally grounded fantasy worlds. We dig into craft, including how to create characters with genuine depth, why struggle can sharpen creativity, and why she avoids gratuitous scenes in favor of classic, adventurous storytelling. J.M. also gives us a look at her ongoing series featuring Callum Walker, a young man born with magic who straddles two worlds, and teases a new project that blends dystopia with Robin Hood and Romeo & Juliet vibes. Along the way, we swap stories about family, routines, and the realities of carving out writing time, plus practical encouragement for aspiring authors to stop hiding their work and just start sharing it.If you’re into character-driven fantasy with heart, real stakes, and zero fluff, you’ll love J.M.’s approach. Sealed Servants, Saved Multitudes: The Parenthesis of Grace (Ep. 300)

In this 300th episode, I take us deep into Revelation 7—a parenthetical pause between judgments that reveals the relentless grace of God, even in the end times. We unpack the sealing of the 144,000 (identified as Jewish male virgins from specific tribes) and explore their role as kingdom-preaching missionaries, drawing parallels with Paul as a type “born out of due time.” We also look at the great multitude from every nation who come out of the Great Tribulation, the nature of tribulation salvation, and how their worship before the throne echoes the Feast of Tabernacles and Psalm 23—culminating in the Lamb shepherding them and God wiping away their tears.Along the way, we connect Scripture with Scripture—Ecclesiastes’ wind cycles, John 3’s wind-Spirit analogy, and the prophetic framework that allowed history to pivot based on Israel’s response in Acts. The big takeaway: even amid wrath, God pauses to save. If He’s still reaching then, He is certainly reaching now. Grace is on the table—don’t miss the window. Keeping It Real with Caramel: Resilience, Reinvention, and the Creative Grind (Ep. 299)

In this episode, I finally welcome entertainer and entrepreneur Caramel Lucas after a few hilarious false starts with tech and scheduling. We dive into her journey from a tough childhood as the only girl among brothers to building a multifaceted creative career across stand-up comedy, radio, podcasting, acting, modeling, motivational speaking, and launching a fragrance. Caramel opens up about resilience, repairing her relationship with her mother, and why humor became her way to process hardship. We talk candidly about the realities of the grind—why success isn’t overnight, making intentional choices about where to focus (she’s prioritizing her podcast now), and using your platform to inspire and reach even one person who needs to hear your story.  We also have fun with icebreakers (from guilty-pleasure songs to perfect low-key nights), binge-watch confessions, and the power of authenticity in podcasting. Caramel shares the heart behind her show “Keeping It Real with Caramel,” how interviews turn into friendships, and why telling real stories can save lives. If you’ve ever wondered how to transform adversity into purpose, this conversation brings laughs, truth, and practical motivation to keep creating and never quit. Between the Tines: Faith, Fortitude, and the Realities of Building Something That Lasts (Ep. 298)

In tonight’s episode, I sit down with fourth-generation Texan, rancher, entrepreneur, pilot, and now debut author, Ben Leman.Ben shares the gritty, lived reality behind building a manufacturing company out of his mom’s garage—bootstrapping every step, sleeping on warehouse floors, buying out partners, scaling globally, facing market ceilings, and the emotional complexity of ultimately selling a company that felt like family. We dig into what public service gets wrong about business (and vice versa), the discipline behind real success, and practical, non-fluffy first steps for aspiring founders who want to build while keeping the lights on.Then we pivot to Ben’s first novel, “Between the Tines,” book one of the Forged in Blood trilogy—a deeply researched, historically grounded tale set among Scottish Highland clans in the 1640s. Ben walks us through the moment that sparked the book, how he traced family roots to Clan Lamont, traveled Scotland to stand on the sites of pivotal events, and wove factual battles and places with imagined inner lives and motivations. We explore why people would abandon everything for the New World, the leadership and loyalty themes threaded through the story, and what’s next as book two picks up where this epic leaves off.Guest: Ben Lemanhttps://BenLemanAuthor.com Watch and Followhttps://Rumble.com/JoeRoozhttps://YouTube.com/@JoeRoozFOLLOW US ON:X: https://x.com/joeroozFacebook: https://facebook.com/joeroozshowInstagram: https://instagram.com/notjoeroozTikTok: https://tiktok.com/joe.roozMinds: https://minds.com/joeroozGETTR: https://gettr.com/joeroozSpecial thanks to:Executive Producer Wayne RankinExecutive Producer Rosanna RankinExecutive Producer Carolina JimenezExecutive Producer Marisa LeeExecutive Producer Angela WetuskiWant to be a guest on The Joe Rooz Show? Building Movies with Life: Rochelle & Blair Gordon on Amy Stronghold and What’s Next (Ep. 297)

Tonight I welcomed Rochelle and Blair Gordon, the husband-and-wife team collaborating with Highwater Entertainment, a Pacific Northwest faith-based production company committed to telling stories of hope, redemption, and transformation. We explored their breakout feature, The Deliverance of Amy Stronghold—based on the true journey of Denise Reed—from homelessness and deep personal strongholds to freedom through forgiveness and faith. The Gordons shared how prayerful dependence, community support, and unexpected provision carried the film from a $10,000 start to full funding, and how on-set culture, professionalism, and genuine care shaped a powerful creative environment. We also previewed their next project, So You Want to Marry My Daughter, inspired by real family practices of protection, wisdom, and intentional courtship, and discussed how Highwater aims to build a movement of Christian filmmakers in the Pacific Northwest. We covered show scheduling updates, ways to connect, and how to watch Amy Stronghold for free on YouTube (also on Amazon and via Vision Video). Listeners were encouraged to consider what they’re creating and consuming—and whether it draws them toward meaning, purpose, and their Savior. Discipline, Dust, and Belonging: From Navy Subs to Burning Man with Sarah Marshall (Ep. 296)

In tonight’s episode, I open up about a rough stretch at the day job, a busy weekend leveling up the studio, and a culinary win with homemade Gamberi fra Diavolo before diving into a rich conversation with Sarah Marshall—a former US Navy submariner turned chemical engineer, enterprise strategist, Burning Man veteran, and debut novelist. We unpack what the military really teaches about teamwork and calm under pressure, how corporate strategy often fails without the people doing the work, and why truly trusted leaders bring everyone along rather than demand authority. We also explore AI’s impact on white‑collar work, the coming gap between expert oversight and novice tooling, and how to stay an “architect” of your tools rather than a passive user.Sarah brings Burning Man to life beyond the headlines: the gift economy, radical self‑reliance, participation, and how belonging—tested by dust, wind, and real human connection—sits at the heart of her novel, Playa Dust In My Soul.We talk about her 20‑year journey to finish the book, co‑crafting characters with her daughter, and why transformation is forged in tension between structure and chaos. We close on second chances in hiring, what separates admired from trusted leaders, and the everyday practice of contributing more than we consume. The Tribulation Begins (Ep. 295)

In today’s Sunday Bible Study, I pick back up in Revelation with chapter 6 after our Palm Sunday and Resurrection Day detours. We walk through the opening of the first six seals: the rise of the Antichrist on the white horse, peace giving way to war with the red horse, famine and economic collapse with the black horse, and mass death with the pale horse. We trace direct parallels with Matthew 24 and Luke 21, discuss how “peace and safety” quickly turns to global chaos, and examine the tribulation martyrs under the altar—why they cry for vengeance, what that means dispensationally, and how salvation in the Tribulation involves faith and works. We also consider the cosmic disturbances—the darkened sun, blood moon, falling “stars,” and earth-shaking quakes—and why the world will recognize God’s wrath yet refuse to repent.I close with a clear gospel appeal: if you’re saved, be grateful—you won’t face this. If you’re not, settle it today by calling on the Lord Jesus Christ.Resources mentioned: Revelation 6; Matthew 24; Luke 21; 1 Thessalonians 4–5; 2 Thessalonians 2; John 5:43; Revelation 12–13, 17, 20; Joel 2; Isaiah 11; Ezekiel 14; Genesis 6; Luke 16; Romans 3–4; James; Galatians.Catch our live sessions on Rumble (rumble.com/joerooz) and YouTube (youtube.com/@joerooz), and send questions or prayer requests via joerooz.com or email at [email protected]. Act Like Men—In Love: Redefining Strength in a Culture of Noise (Ep. 294)

In this candid conversation, I sat down with Mark Osborne, host of The Valiant Forge podcast, to tackle a topic many men avoid saying out loud: burnout, disconnection, and the quiet collapse that can happen behind the scenes.Mark shared the wake-up call that changed everything for him—health scares, spiritual dryness, and a near-marriage failure after ego and image crept in through the fitness world and social media. What followed was repentance, rebuilding, and a re-centering of life on Jesus: surrender first, then step forward in faith. We talked biblical manhood, real leadership at home and church, living out responsibility with love, and how to trade performative masculinity for Christlike maturity. If you’ve felt stuck, ashamed, or unsure what “being a man” actually means when life is falling apart, this one’s for you.We also dug into practicals: daily spiritual disciplines, humble leadership, community for men in the local church, and the power of showing up even when you don’t feel ready. Mark’s story is proof that rock bottom isn’t the end—it’s often the place where real strength begins, decision by decision, day by day. Guest: Mark Osbornehttps://www.thevaliantforge.com/  Watch and Followhttps://Rumble.com/JoeRoozhttps://YouTube.com/@JoeRoozFOLLOW US ON:X: https://x.com/joeroozFacebook: https://facebook.com/joeroozshowInstagram: https://instagram.com/notjoeroozTikTok: https://tiktok.com/joe.roozMinds: https://minds.com/joeroozGETTR: https://gettr.com/joeroozSpecial thanks to:Executive Producer Wayne RankinExecutive Producer Rosanna RankinExecutive Producer Carolina JimenezExecutive Producer Marisa LeeExecutive Producer Angela WetuskiWant to be a guest on The Joe Rooz Show? Unscripted with Joseph M. Lenard: AI Hype, Hard Truths, and Humor (Ep. 293)

Tonight I welcomed back author and podcast host Joseph M. Lenard for a freewheeling, unscripted conversation that ranged from AI’s promise and perils to faith, history, and personal responsibility. We dug into how advanced AI can be both a powerful tool and a dangerous enabler when it abandons guardrails, swapping “do no harm” for blanket encouragement. From films like Ex Machina and Surrogates to real-world AI creativity, we explored where innovation meets human nature—and why discernment matters more than ever.We also unpacked Joseph’s “Christitutionalist” philosophy, emphasizing biblical context over cherry-picked comfort, and the difference between voluntary community and coerced collectivism. From the Mayflower Compact’s lessons to the importance of judging rightly, taking tough love seriously, and actually doing something with the time we have, this episode is part humor, part hard truths, and fully alive. If you came for tidy lanes, this wasn’t it—if you came for honest, high-energy dialogue, you’re home.Guest: Joseph M. Witness to War: The Civil War in 432 Voices (Ep. 292)

Tonight I sat down with author and former journalist J. Mark Powell to explore his new book, Witness to War—a Civil War narrative told entirely through previously unpublished, firsthand letters from everyday Americans. We dug into how he spent decades collecting and curating more than 500 excerpts from 432 unique voices—men, women, soldiers, civilians, Northerners, Southerners, even teenagers—capturing the war in real time as it unfolded. Mark shared striking, often haunting scenes: botched executions, battlefield hospitals, family pleas to desert, humor in the midst of horror, and the shock of 1865’s rapid cascade—Richmond’s fall, Lee’s surrender, and Lincoln’s assassination. We also compared the anxieties and divisions of the 1860s with today, and reflected on what these unfiltered letters reveal about endurance, conviction, and the human cost of civil conflict. We covered how Mark verified authenticity, why he excluded famous figures to center everyday people, and tips for newcomers on studying the war and beginning a careful relic collection. Whether you’re a history buff or simply curious about how ordinary people navigate extraordinary times, this conversation offers an intimate, fast-moving window into America’s most defining crucible—and asks a timely question: not just what happened, but what, if anything, we’ve learned.Guest: J. From PR War Rooms to Page-Turners: John David’s The Bystander (Ep. 291)

In this episode, I sit down with John David—longtime public relations and crisis communications consultant turned award‑winning novelist—to dig into how media narratives are shaped, what goes missing when a story goes viral, and the real-world pressures behind “controlling the message.”We unpack the inspiration behind his debut thriller, The Bystander, which opens with a bystander stopping an active shooter and a TV reporter capturing the moment on video—only for the aftermath to challenge what everyone thinks they saw. We also talk gun culture, training versus capability, and why complicated issues make for the most compelling fiction. John pulls back the curtain on crisis comms, from dealing with high-stakes incidents to online reputation fires, and then walks us through the maze of modern publishing—agents, digital-first presses, bookstore realities, and what it really takes to break through. If you’ve ever wondered who’s steering the story you’re being told—or what it takes to tell your own—this conversation delivers a candid, insider look.Guest: John P. Death, Defeated (Ep. 290)

On this Resurrection Day edition of the Joe Rooz Show, I invite you to open the King James Bible with me for a clear, unapologetic walk through the gospel: the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. We start in 1 Corinthians 15 to define the gospel’s three essential parts, trace the necessity of Christ’s blood through Scripture, and show how Psalm 22 prophetically foreshadowed the crucifixion.  We then explore why the burial matters—what Jesus did with our sin, His descent and proclamation to the spirits in prison, and the liberation of Old Testament saints—before rejoicing in Luke 24’s empty tomb and the hope it grants every believer. Along the way, I urge listeners to anchor their faith in the preserved word of God, reject partial gospels, and consider the only question left: What will you do with the risen Christ? We close with a pastoral appeal to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ today, reflections on the victory over death in 1 Corinthians 15, and encouragement to stay faithful, be in church, and keep looking up—because He is risen, and that changes everything. From Diagnosis to Destiny: A Story of Faith, Innovation, and Controversy (Ep. 289)

In this episode, I catch up after a short break, reflect on Holy Week, and share updates on our live stream plans. Then we dive into a powerful conversation with entrepreneur and author Debra Griffin.Diagnosed with breast cancer in 1989 at age 30, Debra describes how that experience reshaped her life, deepened her faith, and led her to champion patient advocacy and data ownership. She walks us through the gaps in healthcare interoperability and why patients need control of their medical records—drawing from her work building a patient-centric data platform. We also explore her provocative book, “Why Judas Was Born to Betray Jesus,” discussing purpose in suffering, the “secret things of the Lord,” and how faith can grow through struggle without turning into dogma. Whether you agree with her perspective or not, Debra’s story is a reminder that we can’t choose everything that happens to us—but we can choose what we do with it.We also touch on upcoming show schedules, the importance of Bible study during Holy Week, and the everyday mission field right where you are.If this conversation made you think, I want to hear from you—send your questions and takeaways our way.Guest: Debra Griffinhttps://debragriffin.com/ Watch and Followhttps://Rumble.com/JoeRoozhttps://YouTube.com/@JoeRoozFOLLOW US ON:X: https://x.com/joeroozFacebook: https://facebook.com/joeroozshowInstagram: https://instagram.com/notjoeroozTikTok: https://tiktok.com/joe.roozMinds: https://minds.com/joeroozGETTR: https://gettr.com/joeroozSpecial thanks to:Executive Producer Wayne RankinExecutive Producer Rosanna RankinExecutive Producer Carolina JimenezExecutive Producer Marisa LeeExecutive Producer Angela WetuskiWant to be a guest on The Joe Rooz Show? When the Guest Ghosts...(Ep. 288)

In tonight’s impromptu live show from the Asylum, I shared a candid behind‑the‑scenes look at what happens when a scheduled guest is a no‑show—and how we keep the conversation rolling with help from the bullpen. Maverick County judge candidate and friend of the show, Ruben Camarillo, jumped in last‑minute to talk about burnout, resiliency, and the difference between reacting and responding under pressure. We dug into practical ways to decompress when life stacks up—family time, tactical pauses, and hunting the good stuff—plus how work dynamics, community responsibilities, and even local tax debates can compound stress. I also teased a darker, recorded spinoff project we’re building with fresh graphics and format, while reaffirming this live show remains my baby.We wrapped with community notes on a Cub Scout Pack 8562 plate sale, a quick word on keeping politics focused on issues over personal attacks, and reminders on how you can support the show through our value‑for‑value model.  Imperfect night, real conversation—thanks for rolling with us when the bullpen phone rang. Catch our Palm Sunday deep‑dive Bible study (Episode 287) on Rumble, and join us for our regular weekly schedule, including Sunday studies at 2 PM CT. The Colt, The Cross, and The Crossroads (Ep. 287)

In this Palm Sunday edition of the show, I walk through Matthew 21 and the Triumphal Entry to explore why the same crowds who cried “Hosanna” later shouted “Crucify him,” and what that contrast reveals about redemption, freedom, and the personal choice every one of us must make about Jesus Christ. We trace the biblical symbolism of the unbroken colt, the need for redemption through the Lamb, and the “door” at the fork in the road—unpacking passages from Job, Exodus, Deuteronomy, Isaiah, Romans, Mark, John, and 2 Timothy to show how Scripture interprets Scripture and points to Christ’s kingship and mercy. From the round-pen picture of gentle submission to the garments of salvation, I encourage you to let Jesus take charge, choose the path of life, and prepare for next week’s Resurrection Day study before we resume our Revelation series. If you’re at a crossroads today, choose the Door—choose Jesus Christ. From Beat to Backlot: Real Policing, Corporate Security, and Crime Fiction with Brian Brady (Ep. 286)

Tonight I sat down with Brian Brady—former police officer turned corporate security executive and now crime fiction author—to separate TV mythology from real-world investigations. We got into what Hollywood condenses or gets flat-out wrong, why integrity and smart customer service still define great policing, and how DNA and forensics really work on a realistic timeline.Brian walked through his journey from Berkeley PD to East LA, New Mexico, and the chief’s chair in Northern California, then into the high-stakes world of NBCUniversal security, where movie sets, global productions, and a major theme park reshape how you think about risk and response. We then dug into his newest novel, Still Waters Run Deep, which shifts from San Francisco streets to the rural American West, following two Wyoming detectives as they collide with a violent militia network. Awakening and The Golden Age: Inside Sidney Pines’ Patriot’s Diary (Ep. 285)

Tonight I sit down with author Sidney Pines to dig into how 2020 changed America—and why she started documenting everything she was seeing and feeling. We talk about her law-enforcement-informed perspective, the media environment, election controversies, and how a private family journal evolved into her Patriot’s Diary series.Sidney shares the heart behind her writing: helping families understand each other across today’s deep political divides and preserving a record for her future grandkids. We also touch on censorship, TDS, faith, and what it means to stay grounded while sifting through claims, “conspiracy theories,” and hard truths. Sidney’s first book, Awakening: A Patriot’s Diary of American Deception, tracks her early observations and research from 2019–2021, while book two, Golden Age Rising, explores today’s climate, from media narratives to cultural flashpoints and why she’s continuing the series into a third installment. If you’ve felt something “off” since 2020 or you’re trying to bridge family conversations, this episode is for you.Guest: Sidney Pineshttps://mailchi.mp/cfc1ba317208/sidney-pines Watch and Followhttps://Rumble.com/JoeRoozhttps://YouTube.com/@JoeRoozFOLLOW US ON:X: https://x.com/joeroozFacebook: https://facebook.com/joeroozshowInstagram: https://instagram.com/notjoeroozTikTok: https://tiktok.com/joe.roozMinds: https://minds.com/joeroozGETTR: https://gettr.com/joeroozSpecial thanks to:Executive Producer Wayne RankinExecutive Producer Rosanna RankinExecutive Producer Carolina JimenezExecutive Producer Marisa LeeExecutive Producer Angela WetuskiWant to be a guest on The Joe Rooz Show? Scars of the Badge: Surviving the Crossbow and the Cost of the Job (Ep. 284)

Tonight I sat down with Tom Lee, a Texas sheriff’s sergeant and former mental health unit lead with over 23 years on the job. Tom shared how cumulative trauma—not just one critical incident—nearly broke him, even after surviving being shot in the face with a crossbow during a 2019 welfare check. We talked through the realities of policing in rural Texas with thin backup, the split-second decisions that come with life-or-death calls, and why the real weight of the job often comes from bureaucracy and moral injury as much as it does from scenes themselves. Tom opened up about recovery, faith, and the importance of actually asking for help before alcohol and isolation take over. He also detailed his work in mental health diversion, critical incident stress management, and why follow-up care with both citizens and first responders can change outcomes. We also previewed his forthcoming memoir, Scars of the Badge, which captures 50 snapshots from his career—from child deaths and mass-casualty responses to the crossbow shooting—and how faith steadied him through the darkest stretches. If you’re a first responder, know one, or just want an honest look at the cost of the badge, this conversation is for you. And if you’re struggling or someone you love is, please reach out—help is there, and you’re not alone.Guest: Tom Leehttps://www.scarsofthebadge.com/ Watch and Followhttps://Rumble.com/JoeRoozhttps://YouTube.com/@JoeRooz Watch and Followhttps://Rumble.com/JoeRoozhttps://YouTube.com/@JoeRoozFOLLOW US ON:X: https://x.com/joeroozFacebook: https://facebook.com/joeroozshowInstagram: https://instagram.com/notjoeroozTikTok: https://tiktok.com/joe.roozMinds: https://minds.com/joeroozGETTR: https://gettr.com/joeroozSpecial thanks to:Executive Producer Wayne RankinExecutive Producer Rosanna RankinExecutive Producer Carolina JimenezExecutive Producer Marisa LeeExecutive Producer Angela WetuskiWant to be a guest on The Joe Rooz Show? What REALLY Happens After You Publish a Book? (Ep. 283)

In tonight’s live show from the Asylum, I kick off the week with author and entrepreneur S.R. Fabrico to unpack what really happens after you hit publish on a book.We talk candidly about the realities of authorship: why so many people get stuck before they start, how to push through fear and feedback, and the uncomfortable truth about book sales and marketing. Stacy shares her journey from high school math teacher and world‑level dance coach to novelist, how a personal gift for her husband became her debut, and why treating writing like a business matters. We cover practical marketing rhythms, managing expectations, building a backlist, and why persistence beats perfection. We also dive into her Southport series—character‑driven romantic suspense set in a North Carolina beach town—and her nonfiction project chronicling the history of All Star cheer. She closes with what’s next, including a meaningful fiction‑based‑on‑truth project about life after an MS diagnosis.Housekeeping highlights: ways to connect with the show, our weekly live schedule, and where to find Stacy and her books. If you’ve ever said “I want to write a book,” this episode is a nudge to start—and a roadmap to keep going after you do. Guest: S.R. The Book No One Could Open—Until the Lamb (Ep. 282)

In this Bible Study Sunday, I walk through Revelation chapter 5 and the breathtaking throne-room scene where a sealed book appears and no one is found worthy to open it—until the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Lamb who was slain, steps forward. We explore possible identities of the book, why only Jesus can open it, and how true understanding of Scripture is given by the Lord. I trace cross-references in Luke 24 and Acts 16, highlight the seven Spirits of God, and reflect on the Lamb bearing the marks of sacrifice. We also look at the prayers of the saints as fragrant offerings stored in heavenly vials and what it means that Christ has made us kings and priests who will reign on earth. The chapter crescendos with heaven and earth joining to declare, “Worthy is the Lamb,” reminding us that our prayers are never wasted and that believing God’s Word opens up living truth. Key takeaways: Only Jesus is worthy to open the book and our understanding; prayer is a real sacrifice that God collects; songs worth singing say something—anchored in the blood of Christ; and one day every creature will confess, “Worthy is the Lamb.”Resources and mentions: Previous episode with Fire Captain Mark Andrew on leadership; cross-references: Isaiah 11:1–3 (seven Spirits of God), Luke 24:44–45 (Christ opening understanding), Acts 16:14 (the Lord opening Lydia’s heart), Psalm 74:5–7 (insight from Scripture), Revelation 5 (full chapter study). Own the Heat: Trust, Training, and Tough Calls with Captain Mark Andrew (Ep. 281)

Tonight I sat down with Fire Captain Mark Andrew, author of Leading Through the Heat, for a straight-talking conversation about real leadership when it truly counts. We dug into how preparation and training before a crisis enable quick, decisive action under pressure, why trust is built long before the sirens blare, and how great leaders shield their teams, own mistakes, and hold high standards without ego. Mark shared down-to-earth stories from the fireground—venting roofs, scarce water, split-second calls—and translated those lessons into practical takeaways for any workplace: be present, listen hard, train together, and be decisive. We also explored where leadership fails—micromanaging, indecision, passing blame—and how to fix it by leading from the front and caring enough to have tough, private conversations that help people refocus. If you lead a team (or want to), this episode is packed with actionable insights you can use tomorrow. DIY, Dirt, and Deep State Doubts: Wednesday with Wayne (Ep. 280)

Broadcasting live from the Asylum, I kicked off the show with a quick update: our first-hour guest was a no-show, so longtime friend of the show Wayne “Mister W” Rankin jumped in early for a wide-ranging, unfiltered conversation. We covered Wayne’s life on his Washington State mountain homestead—yes, including his very real chicken-plucking rig, year‑round egg production, bartering for elk, DIY know-how, and survivalist humor—and then dug into heavier topics: ballooning taxes and fees in Washington, pension and legal frustrations post–postal service, the blue-state exodus, and the personal calculus many families face to beat punitive tax brackets. From there, we pivoted to national and geopolitical currents, weighing mixed feelings about U.S. strategy on Iran, the cost of undeclared forever-wars, and the importance of clearly stated objectives—while keeping the main thing the main thing: faith, encouragement, and prayer for our leaders and troops. We wrapped with Wayne’s trademark grit and wisdom: leave well enough alone and don’t manufacture your own problems—and keep your sense of humor intact while you prep the farm for spring.Guest: Wayne RankinHousekeeping:Catch our live shows weeknights at 7 PM CT (8 PM ET) and Bible Study Sundays at 2 PM CT—we’re in Revelation 5 this week.Visit joerooz.com to send questions, guest/topic ideas, or email [email protected] us on Rumble at rumble.com/joerooz and don’t forget to like, subscribe, and share.Value-for-value supporters can find ways to help at joerooz.com/support.Tomorrow night: Caramel Lucas joins us on a special Thursday show. Deacons of Hope: How One Ministry Is Changing Lives—One Mother, One Baby at a Time (Ep. 278)

Tonight I sat down with Deacon Dr. Kevin Cummings, a retired dentist turned Catholic deacon whose second act is anything but quiet. After four decades in dentistry and ordination in 2011, Kevin helped found Deacons of Hope and Saint Mary’s Home for Mothers—an 18‑bed residence in Missouri serving homeless pregnant women. We talked candidly about turning convictions into concrete action, why so many people want to help but don’t know how, and how faith, fatherhood, and service intersect when you decide to do the hard work in front of you. Kevin shared the origin story of the homes, the crucial role of volunteers and “angels” on a 24/7 hotline, and why creating real alternatives changes lives—45 babies born at Saint Mary’s last year alone. We also dug into marriage and fatherhood, the dignity of life, and what it means to protect and provide in a culture that often sidelines men. Kevin spoke powerfully about redemption, practical mercy, and building community across denominational lines—because real help doesn’t check your church label at the door. If you’ve ever wondered how to move from debate to doing, this conversation is a blueprint. Resources and ways to support are below—every bit helps.Guest: Deacon Dr. Kevin Cummingshttps://deaconsofhope.org/ Watch and Follow livehttps://Rumble.com/JoeRoozhttps://YouTube.com/@JoeRooz Watch and Followhttps://Rumble.com/JoeRoozhttps://YouTube.com/@JoeRoozFOLLOW US ON:X: https://x.com/joeroozFacebook: https://facebook.com/joeroozshowInstagram: https://instagram.com/notjoeroozTikTok: https://tiktok.com/joe.roozMinds: https://minds.com/joeroozGETTR: https://gettr.com/joeroozSpecial thanks to:Executive Producer Wayne RankinExecutive Producer Rosanna RankinExecutive Producer Carolina JimenezExecutive Producer Marisa LeeExecutive Producer Angela WetuskiWant to be a guest on The Joe Rooz Show? After the Door Opens: The Throne, the Elders, and the Worship of Heaven (Ep. 277)

In today’s Sunday Bible Study, I walk you through Revelation chapter 4, wrapping up our multi-week dive into this pivotal section of Scripture. We revisit last week’s intensive focus on Revelation 4:1 and then explore what John saw when he was caught up: the throne of God, the jasper, sardine, and emerald imagery, the rainbow encircling the throne, and the sea of glass like unto crystal. We connect these visuals across Scripture—Genesis 1, Job 26–38, Psalms, Isaiah 6 & 11—to illuminate biblical cosmology, the “waters above,” the seven Spirits of God, and the identity and significance of the 24 elders, their white raiment, and their crowns. We also consider the four living creatures, heavenly worship, and what all this reveals about God’s holiness, eternity, and our purpose: that all things were created for His pleasure. The takeaway is both doctrinal and devotional—amid the chaos of our age, there is a throne in heaven, and God reigns. I also encourage listeners to review earlier parts of our Revelation series (intro, the glorified Christ, the seven churches, and last week’s deep dive into 4:1) to follow the flow.As we look toward Revelation 5 next week, keep your eyes upward, stay grounded in the word, and remember: our worship, hope, and endurance are anchored in the One who sits on the throne. Building a Music Catalog: Jonathan Steele on Songwriting, Ownership & Discipline (Ep. 276)

In tonight’s episode, I sit down with songwriter and music catalog creator Jonathan Steele—an Air Force veteran who’s written more than 100 compositions and released over 90 tracks across rock, pop, country, inspirational, and Christian genres. We dig into the craft behind building a long-term songwriting catalog: how ideas spark, when lyrics lead versus when rhythm drives, working with professional demo companies, and why he’s chosen to focus on publishing and ownership over touring.Jonathan shares candidly about perseverance through health challenges, the discipline he carried from the military into music, and how his Christian faith fuels both his life and his art. We also talk drummers, classic rock influences, and the practical steps indie creators can take to protect and release their work without getting lost in the industry noise.Jonathan highlights standout songs like In a Soldier’s Stance, Crossing Paths, Lost in the Rain, Hope, and Good Life Elsewhere, plus some of his comedic tracks—and he opens up about his goal to pursue publishing deals, placements, and eventually live performance. If you’re building something real—song catalog, business, or brand—this conversation is a masterclass in consistency, ownership, and sticking with it until the world catches up. Why Populism Is Rising | Dr. Trevor Harrison (Ep. 275)

Tonight I’m joined by Dr. Trevor Harrison, a retired sociology professor and leading researcher on populism, nationalism, and political movements. We dig into why trust in institutions is eroding across the Western world, what “the people” and “the elites” really mean, how immigration and identity get pulled into populist narratives, and why party incentives and career politicians amplify polarization. We compare U.S. and Canadian dynamics, talk third-party hurdles, oligarchy concerns, and what history teaches about states under stress—plus where decentralization and regional identity may be heading. We also touch on Trevor’s forthcoming travel memoir, Safarname, tracing the 1970s “hippie trail,” and his recent poetry exploring war, culture, and our turbulent times. If you’re looking to understand the roots of political frustration—beyond the headlines—this conversation offers context, caution, and a few surprising laughs along the way.Guest: Dr. Trevor W. Buried Alive: Trauma, Addiction & The Fight to Rebuild Your Life (Ep. 274)

Tonight, I sat down with Eric Fisher—trauma therapist, addiction recovery counselor, black belt martial artist, and author of Buried Alive: Four Ways to Free Yourself from the Dirt. We dug into what it means to feel “buried alive” by trauma, addiction, regret, and overwhelm, and how recovery isn’t magic—it’s a disciplined practice much like martial arts. Eric explained EMDR and ART in clear, accessible terms, shared why resilience and community are essential, and offered first steps for anyone feeling stuck, including practical stabilization strategies and where to find immediate support. We also talked about his father’s near-fatal trench collapse that inspired his book, how faith complements therapy, and why curiosity, introspection, and agency (his CIA framework) can move us from paralyzed to proactive.I also shared show updates, gave a birthday shout-out to Producer “Anonymous Angela,” and reminded listeners how to connect, send guest/topic ideas, and catch our live schedules—including our Saturday crypto segment and Sunday Bible study series. If you or someone you love is battling addiction or trauma, this episode is a grounded, hope-filled guide to taking that crucial first step out of the hole.Guest: Eric Fisher, MS, CCC, CTwww.recoveryartscounselling.com Watch and Followhttps://Rumble.com/JoeRoozhttps://YouTube.com/@JoeRooz Watch and Followhttps://Rumble.com/JoeRoozhttps://YouTube.com/@JoeRoozFOLLOW US ON:X: https://x.com/joeroozFacebook: https://facebook.com/joeroozshowInstagram: https://instagram.com/notjoeroozTikTok: https://tiktok.com/joe.roozMinds: https://minds.com/joeroozGETTR: https://gettr.com/joeroozSpecial thanks to:Executive Producer Wayne RankinExecutive Producer Rosanna RankinExecutive Producer Carolina JimenezExecutive Producer Marisa LeeExecutive Producer Angela WetuskiWant to be a guest on The Joe Rooz Show? After This: The Rapture in Revelation 4 (Ep. 273)

Today on the Sunday Bible Study edition of The Joe Rooz Show, we step into one of the most important turning points in the entire Book of Revelation — Revelation Chapter 4.After delivering messages to the seven churches, John suddenly sees a door opened in heaven and hears a voice like a trumpet saying, “Come up hither.” Many Bible scholars view this moment as a powerful picture of the Rapture of the Church — the event that removes believers from the earth before the seven-year Tribulation begins. In this episode, we explore how Revelation 4 launches the prophetic timeline that carries us through the Tribulation, the rise of the Antichrist, Armageddon, and ultimately the return of Jesus Christ. We’ll connect Revelation 4 with key passages like 1 Thessalonians 4 and 1 Corinthians 15, examine what the Bible says about the resurrection body believers will receive, and unpack why the rapture must occur before God’s wrath is poured out on the world. This is the launching pad for the rest of the Book of Revelation, and understanding it helps unlock the prophetic structure of Scripture. In this episode, I sit down with author, podcast host, and foster/adoptive mom Kim Patton for a candid conversation about infertility, open adoption, and the realities of foster care.Kim shares how years of waiting and hard conversations in marriage reshaped her faith and family, the beauty and challenges of open adoption, and what it’s like to foster teen girls working through profound trauma. We talk about struggling well, setting boundaries with compassion, and trusting God’s timing when life doesn’t go according to plan.Kim also gives a peek into her memoir, “Nothing Wasted,” why she chose a reflective, memoir approach over self-help, and how her Book Therapy podcast encourages foster and adoptive families one book at a time. If you’ve faced a detour in building a family—or you’re considering foster care or adoption—this episode offers honest insight, hope, and a reminder that God can redeem even our hardest seasons. Guest: Kim Pattonhttps://kimpatton.com/ Follow and Watchhttps://Rumble.com/JoeRoozhttps://YouTube.com/@JoeRooz  Watch and Followhttps://Rumble.com/JoeRoozhttps://YouTube.com/@JoeRoozFOLLOW US ON:X: https://x.com/joeroozFacebook: https://facebook.com/joeroozshowInstagram: https://instagram.com/notjoeroozTikTok: https://tiktok.com/joe.roozMinds: https://minds.com/joeroozGETTR: https://gettr.com/joeroozSpecial thanks to:Executive Producer Wayne RankinExecutive Producer Rosanna RankinExecutive Producer Carolina JimenezExecutive Producer Marisa LeeExecutive Producer Angela WetuskiWant to be a guest on The Joe Rooz Show? Patriarchy, Pay Gaps, and Sexual Selection: The Evidence vs. The Narrative (Ep. 271)

Tonight I sat down with Dr. Mark Defant, a geologist and geochemist whose work on volcanoes and continental crust formation led him into a broader public conversation about science, ideology, gender, and how culture can distort evidence. We covered his fieldwork from Kamchatka to Central America, why adakites matter to understanding early continental crust, and the pitfalls of centrally planned systems he witnessed in the late Soviet Union. From there, we dug into evolutionary psychology: sexual selection, why men and women tend to want different things in mates, how “patriarchy” can be understood through evolutionary pressures, the pay gap as a story of preferences and trade-offs, and why slogans like “health at any size” conflict with medical evidence. We also talked about the state of academia, DEI policy swings, free speech, and why open inquiry matters more than ever.I closed with a reminder that science isn’t about pleasing narratives—it’s about testing ideas against data, even when conclusions are uncomfortable. Stay curious, examine claims, and don’t be afraid to ask hard questions; that’s how knowledge moves forward. If you enjoyed this one, share it, leave a comment, and let us know what you want us to cover next.Resources mentioned: Dr. Defant’s site (markdefant.com), his recent Skeptic magazine piece on interstellar objects, his book “Voyage of Discovery,” evolutionary psychology literature on sexual and natural selection, and classic Twilight Zone episodes referenced (“The Obsolete Man”). Tonight we sit down with Randi-Lee Bowslaugh — Canadian National Champion kickboxer, Pan-American Games silver medalist, cancer survivor, author, and outspoken mental health advocate. From living with depression since the age of 14 to receiving an adult diagnosis of Autism and CPTSD in her 30s, Randi-Lee’s journey is one of grit, clarity, and refusing to quit. She worked more than six years in frontline social services after graduating top of her class in Community and Justice Services, gaining firsthand insight into addiction, recovery, and marginalized communities. We discuss her book Good-Bye Too Soon, written after losing her brother to overdose, and the difficult balance of loving someone while protecting yourself. We also explore how combat sports forged her mental toughness, how cancer reshaped her perspective, and what resilience actually looks like when you don’t feel strong. Honest, intense, and unexpectedly funny, this conversation is about grit, compassion, and choosing discipline when motivation is gone. Resources mentioned: Randy’s website (rbwriting.ca), The Write or Die Show on YouTube and podcast platforms, and her book Goodbye Too Soon: A Family’s Loss by Drug Overdose (expanded edition) on Amazon. Revelation 2 & 3: The Seven Churches — History, Inspiration, and Doctrine (Ep. 269)

In today’s Bible Study Sunday, I walk us through Revelation chapters 2 and 3 with a clear roadmap for avoiding the theological knots these chapters can create. We revisit the threefold lens for every passage—historical, inspirational, doctrinal—and show how the seven letters were written to real churches in Asia Minor, offer timeless commendations and warnings for us today, and doctrinally point forward to the Tribulation rather than the Church Age.We unpack why “overcoming” in these letters cannot be laid on Church Age saints without creating contradictions with Pauline doctrine, explore church history parallels from Ephesus to Laodicea, and trace the long arc of Babylonian religion from Nimrod to Pergamos to Rome, tying in Jezebel’s influence, the Nicolaitans, and the dangers of ecumenical, doctrine-light religion. Along the way, we emphasize right division, dispensations, and why context dissolves confusion—highlighting what God commends (discernment, endurance, keeping His word) and condemns (leaving first love, false doctrine, lukewarmness). I close by previewing Revelation 4, where the scene shifts to heaven and the study accelerates. If you missed last week’s introduction to Revelation 1 and our earlier dispensations series, circle back—those foundations will make today’s material click. Watch and Follow on:https://Rumble.com/JoeRoozhttps://YouTube.com/@JoeRooz  Watch and Followhttps://Rumble.com/JoeRoozhttps://YouTube.com/@JoeRoozFOLLOW US ON:X: https://x.com/joeroozFacebook: https://facebook.com/joeroozshowInstagram: https://instagram.com/notjoeroozTikTok: https://tiktok.com/joe.roozMinds: https://minds.com/joeroozGETTR: https://gettr.com/joeroozSpecial thanks to:Executive Producer Wayne RankinExecutive Producer Rosanna RankinExecutive Producer Carolina JimenezExecutive Producer Marisa LeeExecutive Producer Angela WetuskiWant to be a guest on The Joe Rooz Show? Grief Unedited: Finding Hope, Humor, and Healing with Sam Tschritter (Ep. 268)

Tonight I sat down with author and speaker Sam Tschritter for a raw, honest conversation about grief, healing, and hope. We explored how loss reshapes identity, why there’s no cookie‑cutter timeline for grieving, and the power of giving ourselves and others grace. Sam shared the winding path behind Love Unedited, her early work supporting miscarriage and infant‑loss parents, and her profoundly difficult new book, The Prodigal Son: Crackhead to Jesus Freak—her late husband’s story of addiction, relapse, pastoral ministry, cancer, and radical grace. We laughed through the heaviness, talked about blending humor with hard truth, and highlighted how real life’s small moments can carry us through the darkest seasons. We also dug into common misunderstandings about grief, the unhelpful things people say, and what actually helps: listening, presence, and patience. Sam’s core message is simple and needed—you’re not alone. For anyone walking through loss or supporting someone who is, this episode offers empathy, candor, and a reminder that grief isn’t the end of your story; it’s a chapter on the way to purpose and hope. Guest: S.E. Unequal Justice: A Trial Lawyer's Truth From Both Sides of the Aisle (Ep. 267)

Tonight, I sat down with veteran trial attorney, former prosecutor, and law professor James Porfido to pull back the curtain on the American criminal justice system. With over 35 years in courtrooms—on both sides of the aisle—James shared how justice can tilt toward the state, why the move from prosecutor to defense changed how judges treated him, and how resources and delay tactics can pressure defendants long before a jury is ever seated. We explored bail reform, risk algorithms, the ethics of public defense, and the real meaning of the Sixth Amendment. We also dug into false accusations, high‑profile cases, COVID-era court disruptions, and why “justice” is often a moving target rather than a guaranteed outcome. James also discussed his new book, Unequal Justice: A Search for Truth to Balance the Scales, reflecting on notable prosecutions, complex defense cases (including clergy and campus cases), and systemic fixes—from prosecutorial culture to judicial backbone. Whether you work in the system or may one day rely on it, this conversation is a candid guide to how courts really function and what it takes to protect your rights.Guest: James M. When Success Isn’t Numbers: Shepherding, Suffering, and the God Who Provides (Ep. 266)

In this episode, I sit down with Paul Granger—full-time volunteer ministry leader, host of the “Where Did You See God?” podcast, and a man committed to living as an ambassador for Christ—to tackle identity, purpose, faith, and what success really means. We unpack how easily we tie our worth to titles and paychecks, and why true purpose holds firm when the externals fall apart.Paul shares powerful stories about taking “crazy” steps of faith—leaving traditional paychecks behind, praying through an impossible house purchase, and redefining success away from outcomes and toward obedience and love. We also dive into scripture-rich insights on trusting God’s provision, embracing discomfort, and learning to see God in everyday life. We talk shepherding gifts, honest conversations about hardship, and the hard truth that sometimes we are the mission field God is working on. From Exodus and John 6 to Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, this is a practical, convicting, and hope-filled conversation for anyone feeling stuck in work, marriage, or faith. What History Leaves Out: WWI’s Other Theater and the Art of Seeing

Tonight I sit down with award-winning novelist Gerald Everett Jones for a wide-ranging conversation on history, storytelling, and the hidden forces that shape our world. We dive into his new novel, Jonathan’s Journal, which springs from a real 1919 soldier’s diary and unravels a lesser-known front of World War I across Mesopotamia, Palestine, and India. Gerald walks us through the “Eastern Question,” the Berlin-to-Baghdad railway, the fall of the Ottoman Empire, and why sea lanes and warm-water ports still drive geopolitics today. We also swap notes on film craft, acting, and how close observation—Le Carré-style—helps readers see between the lines of both fiction and history. Beyond the pages, we talk creative origins, research rabbit holes, and the personal stories that inform Gerald’s work—from family histories touched by two world wars to Hollywood lore and the evolution of media. If you’re curious about the threads connecting past and present, and how a discovered diary can challenge the way we think about cause and effect, this episode’s for you. Revelation Begins: The Testimony of Jesus and the Vision of the King (Ep. 264)

In this Sunday Bible Study edition of The Joe Rooz Show,  we begin our journey through Revelation Chapter 1—the moment when Jesus Christ is revealed in His full authority, power, and prophetic role. This is not the humble servant seen in the Gospels. This is Christ revealed as the eternal Alpha and Omega—the One who was, who is, and who is to come. In this foundational chapter, we explore: • The true meaning of the “Revelation of Jesus Christ” • The spirit of prophecy and its role in Scripture • The three-dimensional structure of biblical prophecy—past, present, and future • John’s vision of the glorified Christ • The prophetic timeline of the Church Age, the Rapture, Tribulation, and Second Coming • Why Revelation is as relevant today as ever This episode sets the stage for everything that follows and reveals why Revelation is ultimately a message of both warning and hope. Join us as we begin one of the most important and powerful journeys in all of Scripture.Watch and Follow https://Rumble.com/JoeRooz/Livehttps://YouTube.com/@JoeRooz  Watch and Followhttps://Rumble.com/JoeRoozhttps://YouTube.com/@JoeRoozFOLLOW US ON:X: https://x.com/joeroozFacebook: https://facebook.com/joeroozshowInstagram: https://instagram.com/notjoeroozTikTok: https://tiktok.com/joe.roozMinds: https://minds.com/joeroozGETTR: https://gettr.com/joeroozSpecial thanks to:Executive Producer Wayne RankinExecutive Producer Rosanna RankinExecutive Producer Carolina JimenezExecutive Producer Marisa LeeExecutive Producer Angela WetuskiWant to be a guest on The Joe Rooz Show?
