The Less Desirables: May 13, 2026 – The Wrong Rock
The Less Desirables Recorded in The Such-N-Such Media Studios at Liberty Plaza. Tim and Bethany talk about B’s attendance at a Chris Rock concert. Or, so it was told at the beginning, when she kept talking about some “brown-chicka-brown-orangutan-t*tt*es” song. It turns out, she went to a Kid Rock concert, and the song she was referring to was “Bawitdaba.” They talked about “Downtown happenings,” too. And, she walked out with an “F-Bomb!” Special thanks, as always, to Top Leaf Cigar Lounge, Soft Golf, Coffee Park Airstream, Dream Kreams, and X1 Communications.

The Less Desirables: April 29, 2026 – Lighten Up! It’s Whiten Up!
The Less Desirables Recorded in The Such-N-Such Media Studios at Liberty Plaza. Tim and Bethany sit down with Reece Welch of Whiten Up Teeth Whitening for a conversation that ranges from ladybugs and invasive beetles to entrepreneurship, family business, and the unexpected path that led Reece from mechanic work to sales to running a spa‑based whitening brand with his mom and sister. Reece talks about the evolution of Whiten Up, the shift from corporate dentistry to a relaxing whitening experience, the rebranding and modernization he helped drive, and the family‑run model behind both locations in Kernersville and Clemmons. He also shares the personal side of the last few years, including caring for his grandmother and learning how much relationships matter in business. The episode winds through sales stories, customer care, small‑business realities, and the crossover between whitening clients and cigar‑lounge regulars. Music makes its way in, too, with Reece’s playlist jumping from Van Halen to Linkin Park to Morgan Wallen. It’s a full‑range TLD hangout: business, life, side quests, and plenty of personality. Special thanks, as always, to Top Leaf Cigar Lounge, Soft Golf, Coffee Park Airstream, Dream Kreams, and X1 Communications.“Shame” by Dolium! x LiVES is the song of the week.

The Less Desirables: April 22, 2026 – Emily Emerson, E(a)rnestly
The Less Desirables Recorded in The Such-N-Such Media Studios at Liberty Plaza. Tim and Bethany welcome actor and playwright Emily Emerson to the studio for a wide‑open conversation that moves from New Orleans adventures to local theatre and the craft of adaptation. Bethany recaps her recent trip to New Orleans, complete with pedicabs, beignets, absinthe, and a tour through the city’s stranger corners. Emily jumps right in, sharing her appreciation for Winston‑Salem’s small, art‑filled spaces. The episode shifts into Emily’s work on stage, including her recent performance in The Book of Will at the Little Theatre of Winston‑Salem. Tim discusses the production’s chemistry, the ensemble’s strength, and Emily’s standout performance as Alice. From there, Emily discusses her next project: adapting Oscar Wilde’s The Importance of Being Earnest into a streamlined, modern‑paced version titled Earnest. She walks through the process, the challenges of cutting a script, and the production’s upcoming timeline. It’s a relaxed, funny, and thoughtful episode that blends travel stories, theatre talk, and a look behind the scenes at how a classic play becomes something new. Special thanks, as always, to Top Leaf Cigar Lounge, Soft Golf, Coffee Park Airstream, Dream Kreams, and X1 Communications.“New Day” by Bradley Steele is the song of the week.

The Less Desirables: April 15, 2026 – Cracks, Facts, and No Bubble Wrap
The Less Desirables Recorded in The Such-N-Such Media Studios at Liberty Plaza. Tim and Bethany welcome Dr. Leah Foster, a chiropractic physician who brings a mix of science, humor, and straight talk to the studio. The conversation covers how she found her way into chiropractic care, why a car accident changed her career path, and how a five‑foot‑nothing chiropractor once cracked her like a glow stick and proved technique matters more than size. Leah talks about building a practice that feels more like a cottage than a clinic, why patient comfort matters, and how she approaches care with precision instead of theatrics. She breaks down what chiropractic actually treats, what it does not, and why the YouTube cracking videos are entertainment rather than medicine. The group gets into spine mechanics, the autonomic nervous system, and the difference between real adjustments and the performative stuff that goes viral. They also touch on insurance frustrations, MD relationships, pediatric adjustments, and the satisfaction of helping people who arrive skeptical and leave relieved. It is an easy, funny, grounded conversation with someone who clearly loves what she does. Special thanks, as always, to Top Leaf Cigar Lounge, Soft Golf, Coffee Park Airstream, Dream Kreams, and X1 Communications.“A Little More Nothin'” by Clay Howard is the song of the week.

The Less Desirables: April 8, 2026 – A Funny Little Experiment
The Less Desirables Recorded in The Such-N-Such Media Studios at Liberty Plaza. Tim and Bethany welcome back a familiar face, Zach McCraw, along with comedians Nevin Sharma and Seth Kerman, who are gearing up for something big on the ninth floor: a full week of New Experimental Comedy at Culture WS. Nevin breaks down the idea behind the festival. Seasoned comics step onstage with material they have never done before. No safety net, no polished sets, just pure creative danger. Seth talks about building characters from Goodwill props, the thrill of trying something untested, and the strange comfort of failing in front of a crowd that knows the show is an experiment by design. The group dives into the format: monologue, DJ banter, performances, and post‑set interviews. They talk about the intimacy of a tiny room where the audience is close enough to feel every win and every glorious flop. They also get into the strength of the local comedy scene, the documentary being filmed during the festival, and the surprisingly loyal fan base that keeps showing up for the chaos. There is also a detour into Goodwill rankings, retro record players, bruises mistaken for hickeys, minting money, and the hazards of peppermint oil. In other words, a normal Less Desirables conversation. New Experimental Comedy Week runs April 26 through May 2 with seven nights of shows at Culture WS. Seating is limited, tickets are invite‑based, and the comedians want new faces, so reaching out on social media is the way in. Special thanks, as always, to Top Leaf Cigar Lounge, Soft Golf, Coffee Park Airstream, Dream Kreams, and X1 Communications.

The Less Desirables: April 1, 2026 – A Little Theatre in Your Life
The Less Desirables Recorded in The Such-N-Such Media Studios at Liberty Plaza. Jessica Perry and Joelle Irons from The Little Theatre of Winston‑Salem join Tim and Bethany for an episode that feels like equal parts theater gossip, community celebration, and pure TLD nonsense. The conversation kicks off with April Fool’s Day jokes that don’t quite land, which somehow makes them even funnier, and quickly moves into everything happening at LTWS. From wrapping up one season to gearing up for the next, to buying a building that is currently a construction zone, Jessica and Joelle bring the kind of dry humor and honesty that fit right in with the show. The group spends a lot of time talking about the upcoming Bash, the annual fundraiser that has become a full‑blown event for theater people and non‑theater people alike. They cover the entertainment, the silent auction, the new online bidding option, the seating situation, and the unofficial dress code that ranges from cocktail attire to full red‑carpet energy. Tim gets officially announced as this year’s emcee, which leads to a round of jokes about wrangling performers, drinking logistics, and the unique chaos of putting introverts and extroverts in the same room. Things take a heartfelt turn when Tim talks about The Book of Will and how deeply that production hit him. Jessica and Joelle share behind‑the‑scenes stories, the magic of a cast that truly clicked, and why moments like that remind them why community theater matters. They also preview the upcoming 92nd season, including Dracula: Comedy of Terrors, Frozen, the final run (for now) of A Christmas Carol before it goes into the vault, and the Spotlight Series returning in their new building. It’s a lively, funny, warm episode that shows exactly why The Less Desirables and The Little Theatre make such a good match. Special thanks, as always, to Top Leaf Cigar Lounge, Soft Golf, Coffee Park Airstream, Dream Kreams, and X1 Communications.“One More Time” by StopGap Solution is the song of the week.

The Less Desirables: March 25, 2026 – Wine Moves Our Soles
The Less Desirables Recorded in The Such-N-Such Media Studios at Liberty Plaza. Tim and Bethany welcome a very familiar face to the studio this week: Stephanie, The BCPF herself, who joins them for a fun, candid, and surprisingly heartfelt conversation about her work with Ronald McDonald House. The episode opens with classic TLD banter — teasing, laughter, and a few blush‑inducing moments — before shifting into the real reason Stephanie is in the studio: the upcoming Wine Women and Shoes fundraiser. She walks Tim and Bethany through what the event actually looks like, from the shopping marketplace and winery tastings to the wall of wine, the wall of sparkle, the dinner, and the live auction. But the heart of the episode is the deeper look at what Ronald McDonald House provides every single day. Stephanie explains how the House supports families with seriously ill or injured children, offering meals, bedrooms, family rooms in hospitals, and mobile carts that bring comfort directly to a child’s bedside. She shares stories, challenges, and the realities of running a home that never closes and never stops caring. Tim and Bethany ask the questions listeners are thinking, adding humor where it fits and compassion where it matters. By the end, you’ll understand why this event is important, why the work is essential, and why Stephanie is so passionate about it. A warm, funny, meaningful episode that blends classic TLD energy with a mission worth supporting. Special thanks, as always, to Top Leaf Cigar Lounge, Soft Golf, Coffee Park Airstream, Dream Kreams, and X1 Communications.

The Less Desirables: March 18, 2026 – Hangin’ Out and Chillin’
The Less Desirables Recorded in The Such-N-Such Media Studios at Liberty Plaza. Caroline Van Warner of Chill Nitro joins Tim for an episode that is equal parts joyful chaos and wide‑eyed wonder. Before the mics even warm up, she brings in a lineup of handcrafted ice creams, including a bourbon‑kissed butter pecan that stops the show the moment Tim takes his first bite. From there, Caroline walks through what makes Chill Nitro so different from the ice cream shops people grew up with. Every scoop is made fresh to order using liquid nitrogen, allowing for custom flavors, allergy‑safe combinations, and a level of creativity that feels more like culinary theater than dessert service. It’s ice cream, yes, but it’s also community, connection, and a place where people gather to feel a little lighter. Caroline shares stories that reveal the heart behind the shop. She talks about the regulars who’ve become friends, the customers who come in for comfort or celebration, and the woman who cried because she could finally enjoy ice cream safely thanks to Chill Nitro’s allergy‑conscious process. Tim digs into the science behind the nitrogen method, the spectacle of the billowing vapor, and the precision that goes into every bowl. Caroline explains how she accommodates dairy‑free, gluten‑free, and nut‑free needs, and how the shop’s setup prevents cross‑contamination. It’s clear that the magic of Chill Nitro isn’t just the ice cream — it’s the care, the intention, and the joy woven into every order. The episode also traces Caroline’s unexpected journey to ownership. After returning home from New York on a gut feeling, taking a part‑time job at Chill Nitro and falling in love with the work, the people, and the atmosphere. Within a year, she found herself signing the papers to take over the business. She and Tim swap stories about Winston‑Salem, concerts that start too late, and the quirks of local social media, all while celebrating the passion that drives small businesses forward. It’s a conversation full of laughter, heart, and the unmistakable sound of someone who truly loves what she does. Special thanks, as always, to Top Leaf Cigar Lounge, Soft Golf, Coffee Park Airstream, Dream Kreams, and X1 Communications.“Magic” by Clay Howard is the song of the week.

The Less Desirables: February 25, 2026 – “B” Does Not Mean Bravo
The Less Desirables Recorded in The Such-N-Such Media Studios at Liberty Plaza . Tim and Bethany are back in the studio, talking about the last three weeks of being off, weather, shows, etc. Tim talks about having to replace some of his recording equipment. Then the conversation turns to a lot of conjecture, accusations, heresay, and probably some BS about a beloved downtown WSNC staple that has fallen upon some seriously bad (at least perceived) fortunes. No song, no guests, just pure Less Desirables. Special thanks, as always, to Top Leaf Cigar Lounge , Soft Golf , Coffee Park Airstream , Dream Kreams , and X1 Communications .

The Less Desirables: February 4, 2026 – Opa
The Less Desirables Recorded in The Such-N-Such Media Studios at Liberty Plaza. Tim and Bethany celebrate The Less Desirables’ 16th anniversary, 831 episodes strong since that first recording in Tim’s bedroom back in 2010, by welcoming back actress, writer, and director Katerina Sigala. Fresh from their coffee date the previous week, Katerina shares her journey from Greece to North Carolina one year ago, where she created the comedy character Souvlaki Girl to combat depression and pay her bills. The character satirizes both Greek and American cultures through stand-up performances at theaters and Greek restaurants, complete with traditional dancing and lots of “opa!” at the end. Katerina explains that while she loves all genres, she gravitates toward black comedies and mystery thrillers, recently completing a short film called “I’m Not Guilty” about a woman who killed her husband—though it’s really a metaphor about not killing your dreams. The conversation explores the stark differences between working in the film industry in Greece versus North Carolina, with Katerina noting how the collaborative spirit she experienced working with Netflix, Hallmark Channel, and Disney projects in Greece differs from what she’s encountered stateside. She and Tim discuss the lack of film incentives in North Carolina after the state legislature stripped them away, sending productions fleeing to Atlanta despite North Carolina once ranking third behind only California and New York. Katerina emphasizes the importance of building teams with good souls and talent, sharing stories of unpaid first shows that helped her identify dedicated workers versus those giving only 10% effort. Tim offers to connect her with his friend at Camel City Playhouse and Tommy at Coffee Park Airstream for potential Souvlaki Girl performances. The episode delves into Greek culture, from the importance of family over careerto the challenges of adjusting to American scheduling culture and processed food. They discuss Greek mythology, with Katerina correcting misconceptions about Medusa and explaining how ancient Greek stories connect to modern traditions like the Olympics. She shares her background as a dance teacher in belly dance, freestyle, and reggaeton, now practicing pole dance and ballet in the US. Tim and Katerina bond over their shared philosophy of building up women, respecting politeness over rudeness, and the Bill & Ted principle of being excellent to each other. Katerina was an amazing guest! The Less Desirables: January 28, 2026 – NOmageddon
The Less Desirables Recorded in The Such-N-Such Media Studios at Liberty Plaza. Tim flies solo this week after the “snowmageddon, snow-my-God, snow-MG, snowpocalypse” that hit Winston-Salem forced the cancellation of planned guests and sent Bethany home early. While the winter storm didn’t fully live up to the apocalyptic predictions, icy roads and safety concerns meant rescheduling interviews and wrapping up the episode well ahead of schedule. Tim shares how he and Stephanie (the BCPF) spent the weekend navigating sleet and freezing rain, watching football (go Seahawks!), and declaring his eternal hatred for the New England Patriots, the Cowboys, the Ravens, and the 49ers. Tim’s primary message is simple: stay safe out there, folks. The roads may be mostly clear, but ice is still lurking, and nobody needs to be a hero trying to navigate Winston-Salem’s winter wonderland after dark. The Less Desirables: January 21, 2026 – Run for That Last Mile, No, Seriously
The Less Desirables Recorded in The Such-N-Such Media Studios at Liberty Plaza . Tim and Bethany welcome the entire creative team behind The Last Mile, an immersive drama experience coming to Winston-Salem that blends theater, haunted attractions, and video game elements into something entirely new. Producer Kenneth Bell explains that, unlike traditional plays where you watch from the audience or haunted houses that just scare you without a plot, The Last Mile puts participants directly into the story as active characters navigating a government medical research facility tour that goes terribly wrong. The experience takes place in the old Samaritan Ministries building, which has been transformed from smelling questionable to smelling like lavender; though that won’t help when the lights go out, and the fog machines start pumping. The team discusses what makes The Last Mile different from typical haunted attractions: every night will be different, ensuring no two experiences are identical and making the whole thing “re-watchable” like binge-worthy television. Director and Assistant Producer Eric Jackson shares how he wrote a four-page script in 30 minutes after Kenny presented the concept, envisioning a cold, foggy, intentionally unwelcoming government facility where participants genuinely fear for their lives. The conversation takes hilarious turns through topics ranging from whether alcohol should be involved (hard no—intoxicated people aren’t allowed), stories of people literally peeing on walls in fear during similar experiences in Greece, and the strict no-contact policy to protect both participants and actors. The episode features the diverse talents behind The Last Mile, including makeup artist Mona Taylor, who studies real crime scene photos for inspiration, actress Marisol Feliciano, who runs SolFace FX and Beauty, Greek director/actress Katerina Sigala, who created the comedy character Suvlaki Girl, and actor William Staley, who does children’s entertainment mixing LeVar Burton with Mr. Rogers energy. The team reveals details about opening night (friends and family/media preview coming soon), press VIP credentials, corporate packages for workplace team building, and signature drinks at the after-party venue. They emphasize this isn’t about jump scares—it’s about plot, character development, and creating an episodic experience that could spawn future installments, with Kenny even mentioning plans for a food truck park across the street and possible expansion to other cities. The Less Desirables: January 14, 2026 – Anime and You, Kawaii After Dark
The Less Desirables Recorded in The Such-N-Such Media Studios at Liberty Plaza . Tim welcomes Stallone Frazier and Tony Brendel to discuss the upcoming Kawaii After Dark 2, an anime nightlife experience happening February 28th at The Den. This isn’t your typical costume party—it’s a celebration of anime and cosplay culture in Winston-Salem, where fans can dress as their favorite characters, enjoy anime-themed music and K-pop, and connect with a diverse community that shares their passion. The conversation explores how anime has exploded into mainstream pop culture, from its humble beginnings on late-night Cartoon Network to becoming a worldwide phenomenon that unites people across all backgrounds. The trio dives deep into anime history, tracing its evolution from obscure VHS tapes and Saturday morning cartoons to streaming platforms and major cultural influence. They discuss everything from Dragon Ball Z and Cowboy Bebop to Studio Ghibli films, examining how Japanese animation has influenced American comics, movies, and even superhero franchises. The conversation takes delightful detours into Spider-Man’s Japanese variants, the role of adult content in technology adoption, and why Face-Off might be Nicolas Cage’s best acting work. Stallone shares his vision for making Winston-Salem a destination for anime culture events, inspired by Larry Leon Hamlin’s bringing the National Black Theatre Festival to the city. Tony discusses his philosophy of keeping The Den intimate—a 70-capacity venue designed as a stepping stone for artists rather than competing with larger venues. With tickets available until Valentine’s Day, cosplay contests, burlesque performances, and games planned, Kawaii After Dark 2 promises to be an unforgettable celebration of fandom, community, and local talent. Special thanks, as always, to Top Leaf Cigar Lounge , Soft Golf , Coffee Park Airstream , Dream Kreams , and X1 Communications . “Touch Your Body” by Stallone Frazier is the song of the week.

The Less Desirables Recorded in The Such-N-Such Media Studios at Liberty Plaza . Tim and Bethany kick off 2026 with stories from their holiday breaks: Bethany’s adventure on the Wilderness Run Alpine Coaster and a family-style feast at Daniel Boone Inn, while Tim shares his unexpected role officiating his nephew’s last-minute wedding. Dr. Tori Cunnea joins the show to discuss her journey from aspiring heart surgeon to chiropractor, bringing over a decade of chiropractic experience to Winston-Salem and Clemmons. She shares insights about working with patients from babies to adults, the importance of understanding what throws the body off-kilter, and why she chose the smaller Sherman College in South Carolina for her education. Dr. Tori also opens up about relocating to North Carolina for better medical care for her child and her practice at Diverse Chiropractic in the historic Broyhill building. The conversation winds through eclectic music choices—from Elton John to Skrillex—cigar culture at Top Leaf Cigar Lounge, and the importance of supporting local businesses. The episode wraps with the team’s signature drive-fast song segment and a discussion of allodoxophobia, proving once again that no topic is off-limits for The Less Desirables. The Less Desirables: December 3, 2025 – The High Point of Soul in Salem
The Less Desirables Recorded in The Such-N-Such Media Studios at Liberty Plaza . Tim and Bethany welcome guest Rick Gustaitis to discuss his new musical project, Salem Soul and the High Point Horns. Rick shares the origin story of the band, explaining how he was inspired by groups like Tower of Power, Chicago, and Earth, Wind & Fire to create a horn-driven ensemble celebrating Motown and classic soul music. After initially being discouraged about the logistics of an 11-piece band, Rick was reinspired by the success of the Camel City Yacht Club and decided to pursue his vision, personally recruiting top-tier musicians from the area, including the acclaimed High Point Horns. The band performs classic hits with powerful horn arrangements, including songs like “My Girl,” “Make Me Smile,” and other beloved tracks from the golden era of soul and R&B. Rick emphasizes that despite having 11 talented musicians, he considers himself the “weak link” in the group, though the recording session he shares demonstrates the band’s exceptional chemistry and ability to nail songs on the first take. Salem Soul and the High Point Horns will make their debut on January 24th at the Ramkat alongside Black Pearl, with tickets already on sale. They have a second show scheduled for April at Whiskey Taps and Tails (formerly the Playground) where they’ll share the stage with Fly, another local band featuring several Salem Soul members. Listeners can find more information at salemsoulhph.com and follow the band on social media at salemsoulhph on Instagram and Salem Soul and High Point Horns on Facebook. The Less Desirables Recorded in The Such-N-Such Media Studios at Liberty Plaza . In this episode, Tim and Bethany welcome Anthony Ingram, owner of Superpowers Heroic Apparel, to discuss his journey from bail bondsman to successful apparel entrepreneur. Anthony shares the origin story behind his brand name (inspired by a wrestling tag team) and explains his philosophy that having superpowers means nothing without being heroic in what you do. He opens up about the early struggles of his business, from trunk-loads of unsold inventory to learning the hard way about listening to customers and diversifying beyond his own brand. Anthony recounts the pivotal moments that transformed his business, including an unexpected breast cancer awareness shirt that became his top seller and the networking connections that grew his revenue by 400%. He also shares his compelling personal story of losing his mother to cancer, pivoting from a nursing degree, and the rock-bottom moment that led him to fully commit to entrepreneurship. The Less Desirables Recorded in The Such-N-Such Media Studios at Liberty Plaza . In this solo episode of The Less Desirables, host Tim reflects on the recent passing of Ace Frehley, the original guitarist of KISS.
