Over the past two years, Leslie Grisanti and her team have secured unprecedented access to the world’s largest prison, Central California's Women's Facility. There are over 2,200 women housed in CCWF - a system designed to favor men, leaving women vastly forgotten. “Life Sentence” delves into themes such as mental illness, abusive relationships, and sexual abuse. We shed light on the challenges faced by incarcerated individuals but also highlight the universal nature of these struggles. Our hope is through empathy and understanding, listeners will recognize the humanity in those behind bars. We prompt listeners to reflect on their own struggles and challenges, recognizing that even if they are not incarcerated, they may still face a metaphorical "imprisonment" in their personal lives.
