The Long Hill Report with Mike Carnevale March 5, 2026
Our March meeting and a lot of history is going on. The US started a war, and it started it with a murder. We are at war at the behest of another country.Fill that tank up quickly as the prices are rising at the barrel and the pump. It’s a war we did not have to do.Mike loves the Dow, and why shouldn’t he as it’s always up…or was.Now it’s down. The cause, we all know.On the Long Hill Report, Conversations with, we are basically a discussion of the previous month, and it was not bad, considering that February is usually kind of a downer.February saw the first Dow close over 50,000 (and maybe the last). All cancelled now!How will it all end. Will it be our biggest victory since Grenada. Will there be a big victory in Iran parade. The administration does not have a long attention span.Mike was able to come up with some history that’s not to bad. March does have big swings, as we are seeing. And so we had some back and forth, Mike had a chance to go down in history and blew it.Next month, we will have more gallows humor.

Conversations With Mike Carnevale November, 2025
October the middler usually in performance, the worst month ever was the crash of ’87. This year surprisingly, it was up. This October saw 7 all time highs.Richard did not pull his usual downer. Bitcoin really dived. Mike’s analogy is Bitcoin is the name brand like Kleenex, so the other cryptos are less than.Mike likes the leading indicators, but not perfect instruments.Too early for next year predictions.and Much more.

Mike holdshis own in the discussion, but neither budges.Mike is sticking with the stock market, and for the averageman or woman, that probably is all there is.Mike and I review the usual monthy stuff.

The Long Hill Report is with Guest John Small on September 4, 2025 to discuss his book
John Small is with us to bring to life the lighthouse and its place in the maritime history here in Massachusetts and the U.S. He is the author of The Small Family Legacy: A Journey of Ingenuity, Sea and Story. The Smalls, on Cape Cod, provided the land and personnel for the early light on the far Cape.In 1786, Congress appropriated the money and the light was built on the Small’s land in 1796.John goes into depth explaining the operational history of the light house which was, early on, family history. The Smalls would interact with a famous American man of letters, Henry David Thoreau. The land was always shifting which John speaks to.The work was boring, except when it wasn’t with storms and wrecks. Was it haunted? In these latter days, the light is automated. John will be coming out with a children’s book on the theme of a lighthouse with a mouse family,

The May 2025 Long Hill Report-Conversations with Mike Carnevale
We began by noting that neither Mike nor I was elevated to the Papacy on this election day.As the market indices rise, Michael is not as morose as he was last month. He is more hopeful about the Donald. What a difference a month makes. My take: Trump is wild, abrasive, bombastic, but not crazy. He said he beat the Houthis, but they beat him. He knows it and just got the ships out of the way. In the MSM not even his enemies are calling it a defeat.Gus is more confident than moi at this point. No cut? Why, economy okay, unemployment okay…per Mike. Futures market says cut not yet and not in June. Remember Reaganomics as insult until it became a compliment…now, we shall see.The unwashed are under water. It is still a world where you get into your company’s 401K while young is the way to go.April usually best month as that, but not this year.Mike reports the rest of month, so that all in all okay, but not perfect.

The Long Hill Report with Guest Gregory Downie May 8 2025
On May 8th, we were lucky to have a young gentleman come into the studio for an episode of the Long Hill Report.Gregory, or Greg Downie is a student at Bay Path Regional Vocational Technical High School in Charlton where I am employed casually. He is a serious young man. So, when he asked to come on, we were happy to have him.His origin story is in itself interesting, as is his knowledge about his two countries. We began talking about his origin. His dad is from Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, and mom was Romanian from the late days of Nicolae Ceaușescu, who was dictator.Greg was born there after the regime ended, and his mom had stories of the period when the country suffered as utilities cut out because the dictator had to repay loans and the regime could not afford to keep the lights on…literally. He discusses the education system, and his and his mom’s experience with it.Ceausescu was murdered, but there were some mixed feelings.Greg commented on the current politics in Romania and how Călin Georgescu was cheated in an election.Gregory also commented about his dad’s religious journey, which led to his becoming an Orthodox priest and eventually meeting his mom.He was well aware of the unique aspect of the Romanian language in the middle of a Slavic sea. He knows of the long history of his ancestral nation.Greg has an interest in history in general and spoke of the life and death of General Patton. Also, he spoke of the Kennedy assassination, which is much in the news lately. His interest is wide.

The April 2025 Long Hill Report-Conversations with Mike Carnevale
Conversations With Mike Carnevale April, 2025 2025For the first ten minutes, it was a discussion on the Trump’s tariffs. Mike does not think they are a good idea at all. Richard is of the opinion that the jury is out on this.Mike and I have been meeting for a few years and for most of them, the Turkish Central Bank would raise rates each month would raise rates. They were well into double digits with inflation at high levels. So what’s going in Turkey now? Erdoğan is facing riots. Is this the result of his policies? Who knows, but it may be just more or our dictum, everything eventually reduces to its absurd. The Month:March has been good the last few years, down this one. Worst first quarter since 2022. Last year, a plethora of all time highs, none this year. People with money in money market funds happy.Surprise; yield curve positive. Looking forward to April, best month, but there is “some work to do.”Tech indicators help, but not too much.Tariffs? And more.

The January, 2025 Episode of the Long Hill Report
We opened with the finding that migrants are not angels and Mass. Gov. Maura Healey is embarrassed that one infiltrated the shelter system with an AR-15 some fentanyl. Her trying to clean it up was like the arsonist deciding it might be time to seek help from the Fire Station. Gus and I disagree with a tad of passion as to the necessity and form new housing should take in the Commonwealth where everything is done right…or not. Is there a “we”? We disagree. Watched Biden’s farewell. A horrible experience I did for the audience. You’re welcome. Circulation of elites and the modern elites. California burning, could it happen in forested Nova Anglia? Insurance should be respected and gamed. Carter funeral, some comedy. Carter’s collusion with Brzezinski led to no good in history. Oligarchy on full display at the funeral. Discussed John Kiriakou’s account Obama’s promise. Cut out the inauguration and just have the new guy sign and have no long interim.

The December 2024, Episode of the Long Hill Report
The December Long Hill Report is a bit late in that we missed the biggest story, the fall of Syria. There is a small discussion later in the episode. We did some bombing using warthog planes to support the insurgency. No good can come of that. Another story we did cover is how your host blew it. He could have become fantastically rich by betting on a sure thing. We all knew Joe Biden was going to pardon his son despite promises not to. Had I placed everything on that, The Long Hill Report would be saying au revoir. In pardoning the kid for everything since 2014, Joe was more or less pardoning himself. Gus explores Chinese history and sees a reflection to our current situation. A discussion ensued about imperial history, ours and the world’s. Bitcoin hits 100g. Is it real? Discussion about money ensued. Gresham’s law was investigated. So, Syria again and our support of the anti-democratic revolution in Georgia. Out to lunch Joe is not really president. Blowback is a bitch. Fellow looks at my book at the farmers’ market and I tell him it’s about American foreign policy from a neutralist point of view. He replies the US can’t survive as a neutralist country. Basically, he was saying we have to steal the natural resources from Russia. Gus and I get into it. Gus doesn’t like censorship, so we ended the show

The November 2024, Episode of the Long Hill Report
The election happened and the world did not end. Will DJT clean house? Who knows? He will have to make an effort to be more ridiculous than the current administration that welcomed the warmongering neocons into their bosom. Put Brian Hook, a war guy, on State Dept. transition. Election of 2020 had a big weird spike that brings its sanctity into question. NPR ran a non-stop commercial for Harris. NPR should charge the Dems and pay the taxpayer. The state is deep. The plethora of war criminals Can Trump bring off peace? Good luck. January 21, Trump is a lame duck and has freedom to do what he wants. And much more.

The October 2024, Episode of the Long Hill Report
There will be no dock strike, and that’s good as Gina Raimondo was not aware one way or the other. Maybe, someone is on team reality as Ben Rhodes is for abandoning primacy, Jake Sullivan may be too. Eric Weinstein wonders who is our president? Excellent question. Maybe even the man holding the office wonders that? The stationery aircraft carrier? Post WWII, the Brits just bugged out everywhere. Colonialism is, in the end, a waste of time. Control of the Global South is coming a cropper. Closing of the gold window changed things. Stein’s Law: "If something cannot go on forever, it will stop." Question is, how and when? And, much more.

Long Hill Report with Congressional Candidate Nadia Milleron
The following is on her website: “She will fight to close corporate tax loopholes that allow corporations to avoid paying billions of dollars in taxes.” No corporation ever pays one cent in taxes no matter the percentage. All corporate income taxes are, in essence sales taxes. Hello Paula, I shall be attending the premier of the horror movie Scary Tales: Dark Walker this Saturday evening at the Holyoke Knights of Columbus. I shall review and submit it to you. It would be nice to know if you intend to run it. Richard Nadia Milleron is an independent running for Congress in the First Massachusetts Congressional District against Richie Neal. She has an interesting history as an activist not the least in opposing Boeings failures that led to her daughter's death in a crash in Ethiopia. Her efforts were courageous and tenacious and not without success. In her work, Mr. Neal was less than helpful in the national legislature. She spoke of her efforts to support domestic manufacturing with trade barriers. Offshored medications have some dangers, so this is important for people in this country. Each administration has its problems. Citizens need to hold elected official to account. She spoke to General Electric's pollution and Richard Neal was not stalwart on that issue while supporting foreign wars. Neal is well funded by certain corporate interests. She addressed the shortage of doctors. There is a bill to increase number of doctors and Richie is absent. Nadia acknowledges we can't afford the wars, and noted FEMA’s failure in the recent hurricane while wasting money on wars. She makes case that we need to grow more food here. It was a wide ranging discussion and we wish Nadia success.

The September 2024, Episode of the Long Hill Report
We started with the "Baring of the Fangs." Censorship is coming on heavy from the "progressives." Right to protest? Gaza in this country? October 7 as Tet? Hannibal Directive. Media hypocrisy? Merrick Garland outs himself as a fascist and he could have been a supreme court justice. And much more.

The August 2024, Episode of the Long Hill Report
Trump shooting the biggest world historic event this year. More than one shooter? Can't be ruled out. Only reason to vote for Trump, would he clean house at the FBI. What would be the result if Trump had been killed? State actor? big Question. I have said nice things about Putin, Why hasn't he paid me. Scott Ritter, Tulsi Gabbard, Jill Stein being harassed. Why did Liz not go to Netanyahu, but went to Zelensky. Neocons and eternal war, and much more.

The July 2024 Episode of The Long Hill Report
The debate debacle. A mass epiphany Biden not a genius, neither is Joe Scarborough. Is it something in the name Joe. Did US personnel get killed manning Uke Himars? Maybe 35? Houthis getting more adept. Peak oil is back, what can we do? Biggest oil waste is the military. Unsanity is the condition of the American bureaucrat.

The June 2024 Episode of the Long Hill Report
Trump is guilty. Is it for ripping the band aid off the flesh of the system. Trump is no gentleman, but he is the villain and among the cool kids lawfare is okay. The other side, Hillary and the girls, Obama, just the other tribe. ACA The system is ridiculous and will continue. Foreign Policy not understood and probably can’t be by the masses. Which is why I came up with an electoral reform, actually THE electoral reform that, sadly, is going nowhere. Does Europe do it better? I’m glad we have oceans on both sides. The Eisenhower got hit, story is buried. Surface ships are so vulnerable. Gus references a Greer book as to how at risk the navy. The rise of the unsane. The election is a joke in a one-party state. Big question, which one won’t start nuclear war. In the Middle East neither candidate is a peace guy. Foreign power buys the election and it is not Russia. Anniversary of D Day and why not bring the Russians and Ukrainians to the celebration? And, much more.

The May 2024, Episode of the Long Hill Report
Anti-Semitic Awareness Act is up to date McCarthyism according to Gus? Police riot at UCLA? Demos back in the 60s, establishment more sympathetic to demonstrators. Judaism and Zionism, are they conflated? A bit of history in how we got to today. Was it justified? Certainly understandable. The Iranians showed the limits of Israeli power. The Dems are getting extreme and MTG said something sensible. Gus noted that symbolic colors have switched in last decades Red was left and Blue was right. Huge bills of many, many pages are ridiculous. US is not a Christian nation, so we should not get involved in the religious wars of other countries. Let’s sail away from our empire.

WEF, Davos annual survey of upper class, and why their messaging is not working but not evil They Conflate small biz with big biz. Yuval’s Useless eaters, why would he be considered a critical worker. Boeing is toast and Eamonn Fingleton is the guy who first got the story. Can’t have a country we are sitting around selling each other insurance. We need an industrial base. Job gains? Not so great as boasted, mostly part time and alien. Dems once the peace party have morphed into the war party. A South American country less corrupt than the Peoples’ Republic of Massachusetts? Uruguay. The banking system, when does it collapse? Gold standard?

The March 2024, Episode of the Long Hill Report
Mass Republican, State Committee does not get inflation, but who does? What ballot did you take on primary day? Libertarians got us. Voting is like cheering, which is why system change would be good. Not voting in the town is kinda voting, in that you are a bit satisfied. All the way back to colonial time as per Albion’s Seed. MBTA affordable housing fight. And much more.

The February, 2024 Episode of the Long Hill Report
After the deaths of three US military, we suggested to Iran they not respond our retaliation. Iran did not buy it and so , maybe wider war?. Like Nam, Afghanistan etc. we won't last. Columnist agreed our policy not working, so the only logical step to bring everything home and pursue a neutralist foreign policy. He did not disagree, but could not see how a neutralist FP could work. Just don't do stupid. Rules based order is propaganda. Your average Dem loves selling weapons. Whatever you want to call us,Oligarchy, Managerial state, we are not "our democracy." Things have to be real bad to contemplate Sortition. Money is government. Is reform possible? The mercenary army is coming.

The January, 2024 Episode of the Long Hill Report
Mass state revenue sinks. Whaddya expect with a millionaire’s tax . The rich may have been paying something, but when they flee, it’s nada. Gus expresses no sympathy for the plutocracy. Make a tax people are willing to pay. SecDef is missing, a must make movie…nah, they’d never buy it. Yup, Blinken out to lunch. War did not start on 10/7. We need to be a neutral nation and stop choosing sides. A carrier came home so we did not lose that one. Houthis look like they can last. And much more.

The December, 2023 Episode of the Long Hill Report
As if two wars are not enough, will we have a go at the Venezuelans? A disputed region with a lot of hydrocarbons. The other two wars and noises are being made the Ukes should give over. How can the Ukes have peace and not be owned by Western interests? Zelensky in a snit with top general, what does it mean? Not much more to draft. The Palestine/Israel conflict continues. We’ve sent carrier groups to do what? October 7 similar to Tet. Nobody expected it. Remember the aircraft carrier the Viet Cong sank in Saigon Harbor. Don’t dock the carriers. Houthis attacking. Resistance in Syria and Iraq. Discussion of the ongoing war. Global South supports Hamas, India supports Israel. Congressman Richie Neal is non-responsive. Liz Warren, America’s foremost Karen. Again, there is no “we.” See ya next month.

The November, 2023 Long Hill Report
We met late in November as Gus went to meet rep Richie Neal with 25 constituent for Gaza/Israel cease fire. Richie was not there but a staffer was. Small group, but representative. The newest war could lead to the big one, but no one seems to get it as we have carrier groups where they could start a war. But, do we have to be there? No, prove me wrong. Of course there are resources and the oil and gas off of Gaza. Now there are resource disputes down SA between Venezuela and Surinam. Tet vs. the Hamas incursion. When did the wars start? Who can know history? News is propaganda.

The October, 2023 Long Hill Report
The sessions topics: We begin with Trudeau’s Nazi snafu, but it’s the Russians. Republican speaker problems. Kind of a mess, but If it stops war, what the heck. Slovaks elect an antiwar guy. Max Boot loves the Uke war because it's war.. Neocons loved war as Republicans and now as Dems. Trump is less a warmonger than Hilary and Biden. Trump sucks the air out of the Democrat room. Government policy does not get where needs to go, but the elite gets something. Peace Democrats? Education, it’s all about the signal. Mostly it is the default babysitter. Inflation ruins families. Companies and jobs other than defense are gone. Next war? Campaign contributions are bribes. Bugging Iran. Russia is not aiming for Cape Cod.

The September, 2023 Episode of the Long Hill Report
First up, Did Elon Musk save the world by shutting off Starlink? Affirmative action girl and war Democrat Liz Warren is upset about it. Musk did not want to cross a nuclear red line. They seem to all be getting crossed. In other news, that O'Keefe guy who was Project Veritas got one of his lads to interview a Blackstone recruiter who told how easy it was to buy a senator, but we knew that. Which brought up my crusade to eliminate presidential elections via a system of caucuses. Average guy/gal can't know the issues, but they can know something. What is that? That is who is the best among them. For House of Reps, we should substitute sortition. Hank Anderson of Guam capsizing fame makes that case. we're in Africa. And much more.

Russia falling apart, or not? The amount of speculation is vast. We have not pronounced ex cathedra on the matter. The war continues, truth is nowhere. Remember when the neocons were GOPers? Back in history to William the Conqueror and same as it ever was. We return in August.
