The Lord of the Wrongs Podcast with Zerb and Sean

Mae govannen and welcome to the Lord of the Wrongs Podcast, (one of) the only Tolkien podcast(s) the professor himself would probably not approve of. Friends Dan Zerbe and Sean Kelley discuss the works of J.R.R. Tolkien in a manner different from your usual Tolkien podcast. If you're a more casual fan who wants to learn more about Tolkien's world but also doesn't love reading OR if you're a Legendarium veteran who wants to feel superior to a couple of stooges, this podcast will amuse, inform, and usually cause sighs of exasperation. Enjoy!

2.7 The Rings of Chowder: Season Two Discussion Part II

We are oh-so-proud of our boys staying (more or less) on schedule releasing every other week! They do occasionally make it work. This episode they talk the second half of season two of Amazon Prime's the Lord of the Rings: the Rings of Power. All the story lines. They get talked about. Some stuff we missed. What are you gonna do, it's more than eight hours of show, we only have a couple of hours. Anyway, here it is!

2.6 The Rings of Chowder Season Two Discussion Part I

The Boys are back! After a five month hiatus where Sean moved across the Mason-Dixon line and Zerb didn't do much of anything the fellas have returned to your podcast apps to react, analyze and discuss Amazon's The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season two! Zerb and Sean talk the first four episodes of the newest season in anticipation for season three which we probably won't see for a few years. They praise, they bitch and moan, they make silly jokes! This is what we do, folks.

  3. 28

2.5 Aragorn, Son of Arathron, and Plenty of Other Names as Well...

This week the boys bring you the story of everyone's favorite Dunedain Ranger, Aragorn! From Strider to Elessar, the man has A LOT of names. Zerb and Sean go over all his names, their meanings, his history, and give a few new nicknames not mentioned in the Lord of the Rings. Enjoy the silliness.

  4. 27

2.4 This Just In (since the first of the year)! News of Middle Earth

The boys fill you in on all the news related to Tolkien since the year began. It's been a little while but the fellas have returned to give you all an overview of what's new in Tolkien related television, movies, and games. Same ol' silly is back. Strap in.

  5. 26

    We're Still Here!

Friends, Sean and Zerb and still making this show! The team has been busy with life but we'll soon be coming back with a full episode! Hang tight and we'll be back before you know it!

  6. 25

2.3 Horses, Hotties, and Helm's Deep: A Discussion of the History and Culture of Rohan

In this episode Zerb and Sean talk about the Rohirrim! Learn about the inspiration for these horse lords, their culture, how they went from scrappy Northmen to the Horse Lords of the Plains formally known as Calenardhon. Plus, you know, the usual dumb bits these guys do. Join us and learn (something, hopefully) about Rohan and it's people.

  7. 24

2.2 Finrod Felagund is Freakin' Fantastic

In episode two of our second season Zerb and Sean get into the tale of the best damn elf there ever was, Finrod Felagund! Brother of Galadriel, friend to men and dwarves, dog fighter (it's cool, you'll see). Between his willingness to sacrifice, his strength, his kindness, and his (presumably) super sexy face, Finrod is one of the most lovable and honorable characters in Tolkien's Legendarium. Join us for some interesting stories and the kind of goofy segments you've come to expect from these two hosts. Enjoy!

  8. 23

2.1 WE'RE BACK! Happy Valentine's Day 2024 Season Two Premier!

In our season two premier Sean and Zerb talk about the great romances of Tolkien's Legendarium! From Beren and Luthien all the way to Sam and Rosie, love is in the air but so is bromance. They boys also talk dude love (not Mick Foley) in Middle Earth and have a very special fake sponsor. Enjoy and thanks for joining us for another fun filled and stupendously stupid season of the Lord of the Wrongs Podcast!

  9. 22

Final Wrap Up of Season One: Christmas, Yule, New Year's and Die Hard

The boys reflect on their first season and talk winter holidays! Zerb and Sean talk wish lists sent to Santa, which gifts would be given in the Fellowship's Secret Santa gift exchange, their Tolkien resolutions for next year AND we settle the classic holiday debate: Which is the better Christmas movie, LotR or Die Hard?

  10. 21

The Silmarils Part II: Final Regular Episode of Season 1!

The boys finish up the first season of the show with finishing up the story of the Silmarils! We've had a blast with you all, talking Tolkien and nerding out about these wonderful writings. Keep your eye out for one more special to round out season one!

  11. 20

The Silmarils Part I: Feanor's Jewels (not his balls but... kind of his balls)

In our second to last episode of the first season the fellas FINALLY get around to teaching you about the Silmarils! Arguably the single most important artifacts in the Legendarium, the story of the Silmarils is the story of Arda and of Middle Earth. Enjoy part one of our two part special on the most beautiful and troubling jewelry until the One Ring is made. Enjoy, nerds!

  12. 19

The Dark Lord Volde... SAURON. I mean Sauron. This episode is about Sauron.

As we rapidly approach the end of our first season the boys talk the Big Bad of the second and third ages... the Dark Lord Sauron! He started as a mere maia, learning crafts from the Vala Aule and rose through the ranks to become a major dick. I mean really, who does this guy think he is? Anyway, here's our Sauron episode, enjoy!

  13. 18

Popular Music Inspired by Tolkien: Bunch of Nerds...

Zerb and Sean get into the music inspired by Tolkien, be it Howard Shore's score for the Jackson trilogy, Led Zeppelin's "Misty Mountain Hop," or Rush's so-dorky-it's-kinda-hard-to-listen-to "Rivendell." If you're looking to make a playlist of Tolkien related music this episode is a must listen, just like all of our episodes. Enjoy, nerds!

  14. 17

The Elves: All You Wanted to Know and Then Way More Than You Wanted to Know

The boys dive into the abyss that is all the confusing and entangled topic of Tolkien's elves. While the information might make your head spin (or nod, as the case may be), this episode gives you a crash course in the various groups of elves, their histories, AND all this in rap form. Yes, folks, our very own Sean Kelley raps the history of the elves. No, seriously, the only thing more ridiculous than the rap itself is that it's... really good and quite informative. Enjoy the dorkiest undertaking of Sean's life and prepare to take notes, this one's fun but a doozy.

  15. 16

One Ring to Rule Them All: Sauron's Ring (not his butt, though)

It's time to demystify the most powerful artifact in Middle Earth! Or it would be, were our hosts more competent and less distracted fellows. How did it come to be? What's the One Ring's relationship to the other rings of power? And was Sauron a workaholic? Why didn't he spend more time with his gross, evil kids? All these questions and more will be answered (if only vaguely correctly) on this episode of the Lord of the Wrongs Podcast!

  16. 15

Haunted Halloween 2023: Ghouls, Goblins, Ghosts, Vamps, Wolves and Other Spooky Spectres of the Legendarium

Happy Halloween! Our hapless hosts have some fun with the creepiest parts of Tolkien's world! From discussing what creatures they think they could take in a dark alley to whether Merry and Pippin would make good slasher villains, Zerb and Sean get spooky and as silly as ever in this exploration of the best horror to be found in the Legendarium. Enjoy... and beware!

  17. 14

Tom Bombadil: Who IS This Freakin' Guy?!

You've heard the name but who in the wide world of whatthefudge is Tom Bombail?! This sing song-y son of a bitch has been an enigma wrapped in a puzzle wrapped in a mystery wrapped in a tortilla, fried and served with a side of Goldberries. If you're confused now, just wait 'til you hear these dumb dumbs trying to make sense of the ultimate side character. Enjoy, but don't expect any satisfying answers..

  18. 13

The Video Game Episode: Too Nerdy Even for Zerbe

Sean carries a good chunk of yet another episode as the boys delve into the many, many, many video game adaptations of the Legendarium. Zerb does his best to keep up on a topic well outside his expertise or interest but in the end, Sean Kelley is the hero this podcast needs AND deserves. And yes, the now infamous Gollum failure will be ripped apart by two guys taking everyone else's word for it.

  19. 12

The Rings of Chowder: The Rings of Power Review Part II (Part II)

Listen, there were only supposed to be two parts to our review of Amazon's Rings of Power and we got carried away. So, instead of saying this was part three, we're doubling down and calling this part two of part two. Get over it, guys. Geez.

  20. 11

The Rings of Chowder: The Rings of Power Review Part II (Part I)

In the second installment of our Rings of Chowder: Rings of Power Review series the fellas talk about absolute bangers of songs in many fantasy series, the role of friendship in Tolkien's work and it's relation to the Amazon series, and the realization that they spent too much time talking about Harfoots and have to make this a three part series. Also, more spoilers but you should really have figured that by now.

  21. 10

The Rings of Chowder: The Rings of Power Review Part I

You knew it had to be coming and here it is, the LotWpod fellas give their thoughts to the... let's say controversial Amazon show based on JRR Tolkien's writings. As they say, opinions are like buttholes, everyone has them and they all stink. Well in the first episode of three, the fellas show you their wide open opinions on Amazon's Lord of the Rings: the Rings of Power. If you're looking for either a rabid, foaming at the mouth hate rant or a well thought out analytical discussion, you're going to be out of luck. However, if you want a reasonable (if often silly) discussion by two goofy nerds, this is the show for you! Enjoy.

  22. 9

Hobbit Day 2023: Frodo and Bilbo's Birthday Bonus Special!

Happy Hobbit Day, friends! The twenty second of September is the birthday of our favorite Bagginses, Bilbo and Frodo, hence the designation Hobbit Day! To celebrate, the boys give their thoughts on a fan edit of Peter Jackson's Hobbit trilogy that cuts the three films to more closely follow the book, Zerb shares his ambitious and gluttonous plans for a Hobbit Day feast, and Sean brings us some fan favorite silly segments! Enjoy this very special bonus episode and let us know how you celebrated Hobbit Day by sending an email to us at [email protected] or sending us a DM on Instagram @lordofthewrongspodcast.

  23. 8

Ringwraiths: The Witch King, Kamul, and Seven Other Ghastly Ghoulish Guys

Which would you rather come across in a dark alley, a Nazgul or a pervert in a trench coat? Is there a difference? Yes, definitely. Zerb and Sean explain the Nazgul, AKA Ringwraiths, AKA Black Riders, AKA Wraiths on Wings, AKA, the most metal of all Sauron's lackeys. What are they, where did they come from, and what is the best product to remove rust from plate armor? Find out in another silly and hopefully informative episode of the Lord of the Wrongs Podcast!

  24. 7

The Wizards of Middle Earth: Mysterious Mysteries of the Istari

In this episode our hapless hosts have a try at pulling back the curtain to reveal the wizards... no, not Oz, of Middle Earth. The boys discuss what kind of band the Istari would form, what the hell the plural of "staff" really is, and Sean Demands a Recast (or in this case, a casting) for the bewildering and baffling Blue Wizards!

  25. 6

Spiders on Steroids: Shelob, Ungoliant, and Some Eight Legged Freaks

How big is TOO big? We're talking spiders today, pervs, shame on you. Zerb tells us what size spider is too big for comfort, Sean speculates if Shelob represents publisher deadlines, and the fellas ask the burning questions like; if spiders wore sneakers would they wear them on every leg?

  26. 5

Trees, Trees, and More Trees: Man, This Guy Really Loves Trees...

Laurelin, Telperion, The White Tree of Gondor, Old Man Willow, Treebeard and the Ents. These are just most of the trees Zerb and Sean discuss in this episode! Tolkien loved himself flora of the arboreal persuasion and so do we. Enjoy as we discuss the most famous trees in Tolkien's writing and get slowly better at making a podcast.

  27. 4

Discussing the Valar: The Valar Sitcom Spectacular Special

Zerb and Sean go through the Valar (gods of Arda) and cast the sitcom that will inevitably make our hosts rich once the source material hits the public domain. Sean brings loads of great information and insight while Zerb adds exciting color commentary such as, "Yeah..." and "Agreed, yeah, for sure."

  28. 3

Nerdy Nonsense Part III: Dumb Bits, Dumb Jokes, Dumb Guys

The episode starts off with what is sure to be a fan favorite segment: Correction Corner! They also launch The Summarillion, a segment where the guys explain the Silmarillion one story at a time in terms simple enough even for Zerb and Sean to understand. Learn all about the Ainulindale (Music of the Ainur). Also, what's an Ainu?

  29. 2

Nerdy Nonsense Part II: The Boys Try Again

In the second episode of the Lord of the Wrongs Podcast Zerb and Sean make their picks of the classic question; if you could put one F bomb in each LotR film, where would you put it? Also, does Zerbe like to gnaw fish bones? Find out in another exciting episode of... The Lord of the Wrongs Podcast!

  30. 1

Welcome, friends! This is the first (but not, as it turns out, last) episode of the Lord of the Wrongs Podcast! Here Sean and Zerb talk about their relationship with Tolkien, some of their favorite characters, and eventually, the goofy nonsense promised at the top of the episode.
