John's battle with PTSD, and his search for a medicine that helped
In this episode, we meet John, a Vietnam War Veteran who lives with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). PTSD can occur when fear and anxiety doesn't go away after a traumatic event. For John, it was the experience of war that left a lasting impact. But PTSD isn’t limited to combat—it can result from any event that puts your life or safety at risk, such as: a serious accident physical or sexual assault war or torture a natural disaster. About 1 in 8 Australians will experience PTSD at some time in their lives. In our talk with John, he opens up about living with PTSD and the mental health challenges that came with it. He shares how medicines became an important part of his healing - and the trial and error it took to find the one that truly helped. A blind or vison impaired person's guide to managing medicines

Martin is the National Advocacy Officer for Blind Citizens Australia. Martin is blind, and lost an arm and a leg after falling under a train.
