SWITCH: Piglet (2025) and Blood and Honey 2 (2024)
A follow-up to an October episode, this week we watched the SEQUEL to Blood and Honey, as well as a remake (?) called Piglet. The Poohniverse is expanding and we are buckled up and ready to ride. Obviously, we used the Pickerwheel to determine which half of which movie we were each going to watch and we did the switch at home, since one of the movies was on Tubi. We love Tubi. Go check out the PATREON and here's the LinkTree for the whole tree of links.

LIVE SWITCH: The Monkey (2025) and Last Breath (2025)
On a Tuesday night in March... Alexis and Suzy sneak around the movie theater to watch halves of movies they purchased tickets for... this movie-ruining experience is better known as The Ole Switcheroo! This week we went to the ole AMC, saw Nicole Kidman step in a puddle, and then watched two halves of brand new movies The Monkey and Last Breath. To keep things fair, we used the Pickerwheel to decide who would get the first and second half of each movie. We would love to see you over on the PATREON and here's the LinkTree for the whole tree of links.

Alexis and Suzy are hitting you with another installment of the Saw franchise with Saw III (find the first two in the feed). This week on our Patreon, you can hear an episode about our visit to Gobbler's Knob in Punxsutawney for Groundhog Day. Want more? We have other shows. Check 'em out: linktr.ee/nermernermer

Happy New Year from The Ole Switcheroo crew. This week we each watched half of the movie The Legend of Bagger Vance, as determined by a Picker Wheel full of movies released in the year 2000. This movie happens to be one of the primary examples of an American cinema trope called the Magical Negro. From Disney+:"Honnold has always dreamed of exploring Greenland and its unclimbed peaks. Now he and world-class climbers Hazel Findlay and Mikey Schaefer attempt to summit Ingmikortilaq, an unclimbed Arctic seacliff that rises out of the frozen wilderness and is nearly 1,000 feet higher than Free Solo’s El Capitan."Other things you should know about are the time Vanessa Hudgens and Austin Butler vandalized a rock in Sedona and the results of Alex Honnold's brain scan.If you are interested in becoming a Patron, you can! at patreon.com/nermernermerAll other important links for the show can be found at linktr.ee/nermernermer :-)

LIVE SWITCH: Garfield (2024) and The Bikeriders (2024)
SPOILERS FOR BOTH MOVIES WITHINLASAGNAMOTORCYCLESIdeally, you’d listen to this right after watching Garfield and The Bikeriders but as April Wolfe says, it isn’t what happens in a movie but how it happens that makes a movie worth watching. Even though we’re revealing plot, I promise these half baked descriptions are not as cinematic as watching the actual movies.Alexis and Suzy once again went to the theater in person for this switch. 50/50: The Shawshank Redemption (1994)YES, IT’S TRUE. Neither of us had seen The Shawshank Redemption and now we’ve each only seen half. 50/50: The Fault in Our Stars (2014)
Alexis and Suzy split the movie The Fault in Our Stars. There are SPOILERS for this filth in the episode so if you’re still trying to hide from John Green’s truth in 2024 (?) this is not for you. The Fault in Our Stars is a 2012 novel about a girl (Hazel Grace) whose lungs have been affected by thyroid cancer. It is one of the best selling books of all time. The Fault in Our Stars is also a 2014 coming-of-age movie starring Shailene Fucking Woodley. It was nominated for seven 2014 Teen Choice Awards and it won all seven. Justin Bieber is a Canadian pop icon born in March 1994, making him newly 19 years old in April 2013 when he signed the guestbook at the Anne Frank house with “Truly inspiring to be able to come here. Anne was a great girl. Hopefully she would have been a belieber.”

Suzy and Alexis saw Moulin Rouge (the Musical) live in the theater and switched at intermission. Moulin Rouge is the Broadway version of Baz Luhrman’s 2001 movie by the same title. The musical premiered in 2018 and won 10 Tony awards. It is a disgrace.

SWITCH: Jobs (2013) and Steve Jobs (2015)
This week Alexis and Suzy watched both films that came after Steve Jobs’ untimely death in 2011. The movies are Jobs (2013) starring Ashton Kutcher and Steve Jobs (2015) starring Michael Fassbender. Please hold your applause. Halfway through both movies, Alexis and Suzy switched rooms and watched the second half of the other movie.

50/50: The Wolf of Wall Street (2013)
Alexis watched the first half of the Wolf of Wall Street and Suzy watched the second half so neither of them had to watch the full 3 hours. If there is one thing you need to know about this movie, it's long. It is exhausting. It isn't quite the inspiration all the online crypto scammers seem to think it is. Though Alexis and Suzy are not in perfect agreement about the value of this movie, they agree to avoid lining the pockets of the man it was based on. By calling him the Wolf of Wall Street, they may have given too much legacy-bending power to a man who they meant to call a predator. The Predator of Wall Street. Not the Role Model of Wall Street. However, the acting in the movie was phenomenal, another amazing performance from DiCaprio who uses the magic of theatre (definitely not drawing on his real life experiences) to portray yet another wealthy, scummy socialite. Very cool!If you wish to become a Patron, please visit https://patreon.com/nermernermerIn the beginning of this episode, Alexis mentions award-winning podcast The Worst Idea of All Time because their second season involved Sex and the City 2 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Worst_Idea_of_All_Time

SWITCH: The Jokercist - Joker (2019) + The Exorcist (1973)
Alexis and Suzy watch Joker (2019) and The Exorcist (1973) simultaneously and switch rooms halfway through (around the 61 minute mark). As people of a certain age, Alexis and Suzy squarely dodged watching The Exorcist and any of its sequels. Before 2023, the last movie to come out in the franchise was in 2005, the year Alexis and Suzy turned 10 and 10, respectively. We both had a ten year old's understanding of the film and I guess neither of us have friends who hate us enough to make us watch any part of the Exorcist collection before now. Neither of us had seen Joker (2019) because of some combination of global pandemic and being mentally unable to move on from Heath Ledger's 2008 performance in The Dark Knight. We also touch briefly on everyone's thirteenth reason: Jared Leto's criminally neon reprisal of Joker in the aptly named Suicide Squad (2016). This episode was available before the show even launched on our Patreon. LIVE SWITCH: Barbenheimer (2023)
Fans of Jawbreakers: halt! Everyone else: listen up! This is episode zero of Alexis and Suzy's brand new show the Ole Switcheroo. For continuity reasons, this episode is conveniently the last episode of Jawbreakers podcast, originally published on the Jawbreakers feed on August 1st, 2023. If you've already heard us talk about Barbenheimer, this is the same episode. Don't waste your time. Speaking of wasted time, the Ole Switcheroo was born out of time-saving necessity. Gone are the 2020 Coronavirus days of binging entire television shows without taking a break. Gone is the collective interest in celebrity and their luxuries. No one has proven to be more out-of-touch and unlikable than the people holding our nation's wealth, even the silly fun people we focused on in Jawbreakers-land. I'm getting off track here but we all saw the Imagine video. Alexis and Suzy are tired of trying to praise the likes of people who really don't know anymore (if they ever did) that a big budget doesn't guarantee good art. We're also both tired of seeing people older than us run the worst PR of all time, tired of finding out who is involved in Scientology (it's everyone in That 70s Show), and sick and fucking tired of people younger than us dissing SNL online. Yes, some sketches are bad. But yes, some of them are genius cultural touchstones. How many times can we say it on air?The big update: we're watching movies by the half now. We got no attention span and worms for brains and neither of us have any problem snipping up the cinematic masterpieces Film Bros live and die by. To prove a point, we'll also ruin movies we actually want to see. If you want to come along for the ride, I think it's actually a pretty good time. Plus, with over 150 published Jawbreakers episodes, we are well-practiced in the art of filling an hour with storytelling and antics. If you want to swim around in that world, every episode of Jawbreakers is still posted and there are bonus episodes on the Nermer Nermer Patreon. The Jawbreakers feed: https://feeds.transistor.fm/nermer-nermerThe Patreon: https://patreon.com/nermernermerTo our day-ones: love y’all. Doing this show is so fun and truly one of the joys of my life. The Nermer Nermer handle lives on across all platforms.
