Abortion Pills vs. Myths with The PCA Show
Welcome to The PCA Show, where we cut through confusion and talk honestly about reproductive health. Today's topic: Abortion Pills vs. Myths — because misinformation spreads fast, and facts matter.Let's dive into the most common myths you might have heard... and the truths that actually matter.Myth number one: "Abortion pills are dangerous." This is one of the biggest myths out there. The truth is: medication abortion is medically safe when used correctly. It's been used around the world for decades, and serious complications are rare. Most people describe the experience as similar to a heavy period.Myth number two: "You need to be in a hospital to take the pills." False. Medication abortion is designed to be taken at home. Many people choose privacy and comfort in their own space, and that's perfectly normal. As long as you have accurate instructions and emergency care available—just like with any medication—you're okay.Myth number three: "It causes infertility." This one really scares people, but it's not true. Abortion pills don't affect fertility. They don't damage your uterus or ovaries, and they don't interfere with future pregnancies.Myth number four: "Only women use abortion pills." Not true. People of different genders—trans men, nonbinary people, and intersex people—can all get pregnant. Abortion access and rights belong to everyone who can get pregnant.Myth number five: "You can't get abortion pills by mail." In many places, you absolutely can. Telehealth services and online platforms make it possible for abortion pills to be delivered discreetly and safely to your home. Delivery times vary, but access through the mail is real and widely used.Myth number six: "The pills don't really work." Actually, they're extremely effective. When used the right way, medication abortion works about 95 to 98 percent of the time. Millions of people have safely ended early pregnancies using mifepristone and misoprostol.Myths exist to confuse, scare, and shame people. Facts exist to empower. If you or someone you know is considering abortion pills, remember: You deserve real information, not fear. Visit: Plan C Access for more info. This is The PCA Show.
