Welcome to a new episode of the Policy Perch. Today we have Suzanne Sullivan on the Perch! Suzanne Sullivan is the founder and President of Sullivan Strategies, a government relations firm specializing in transportation policy, infrastructure funding, and appropriations. She brings extensive experience in both the public and private sectors, advising clients on issues management, zero-emission technologies, and international infrastructure financing. Suzanne spent 20 years in the federal government, holding key positions in both the executive and legislative branches. At the FAA, she served as Senior Counselor and later as Assistant Administrator for Government and Industry Affairs. Prior to that, she was Deputy Chief of Staff at the U.S. Department of Transportation and held several senior roles on the House Committee on Public Works and Transportation. She played a significant role in crafting the landmark Intermodal Surface Transportation Efficiency Act of 1991 and holds degrees from Boston University and the Corcoran College of Art and Design.

Sitting down with one of my mentors, Krista Simpson Anderson, I learned so much about the needs and challenges of our military and veterans' community. We framed veterans policy with a focus developed through the metaphor of a tree, showing growth and strength and this helped us to consider values of primacy such as like assisting survivors, healthy integration between programs and identifying public polices that can contribute more fully to this important community. Krista's advocacy, in its origins of experience and leadership, carries significant influence on veterans policy, primarily through activities for The Unquiet Professional, Brave Group, and serving in several advisory positions. She emphasizes readiness, support for families, and policy effect in the long term. Above all, her devotion and compassion are the ingredients I realized are the most valuable as she gives to military families and veterans. A true American hero 🇺🇸 ⭐️ ❤️

Abbie Meador is a government relations specialist and conservation policy expert with a strong background in legislative strategy, public policy, and stakeholder engagement. She has extensive experience working with Capitol Hill, Congressional appropriations, and federal agencies, particularly in the conservation and natural resource sectors. Abbie has a proven track record of developing policy campaigns, influencing legislative outcomes, and collaborating across sectors to create long-lasting environmental change. Abbie advises on federal appropriations and federal agencies. She previously held senior roles at The Nature Conservancy, where she led policy advocacy efforts, and served as a Legislative Director in the U.S. House of Representatives.
