Women Were Never Meant to Live This Disconnected
“I feel like a stranger in my own skin, disconnected from my thoughts and emotions. I don’t know what I want or where I’m going.”When I read that, it made my heart ache a little because I know that feeling.Before I started my healing journey, my relationship with myself and my body wasn’t great. I felt uncomfortable in my own skin.And honestly, it’s one of the reasons why I started drinking at such a young age.I was at a party and I didn’t feel like I belonged, and the drinking helped me escape. And even if it was fake and it wasn’t real, I felt like I fit in.I’m sure I’ve told you before that I felt so damaged that when I started making jewelry years ago, I literally created a collection called Damaged Goods because that’s how I saw myself.Disconnected and out of place.Like everyone else got the handbook for living and being human, but God skipped over me.Women Are Living With This Pain Every DayAnd what made me feel emotional wasn’t just remembering my own pain.A lot of it is knowing how many women are still living with this pain today.There are so many women who feel disconnected from themselves, and they don’t feel safe in their bodies. The one thing that’s truly ours, truly yours, and you don’t feel safe in it.So many women have become strangers to themselves without even realizing it.And for us, it starts at such a young age. We carry it into adulthood.Then we numb out, scroll, stay busy, consume every podcast, overthink, drink, all to avoid things getting quiet.When Things Get QuietBecause when you’re alone, and there’s no noise, you can feel the disconnection and loneliness.And when you live with that long enough, it starts to feel permanent, like it’s never going to change.Like it’s just who you are and you’ll always feel disconnected so another 3 years pass and you still haven’t started the business, which means another 3 years of doubting yourself, and watching other people live their purpose while telling yourself “maybe someday.”Like you don’t fit in with the world or even with yourself, and you never fully relax around other people because part of you is always performing, and shape-shifting, trying to avoid rejection.Like you’re always just on the outside looking in, trying to figure out how to get in, but staying on the sidelines just reinforces the belief that you don’t belong and you’re not worthy enough to fully go after what you want.But I Need You to Know SomethingYou are not damaged, and there’s nothing wrong with you.You are worthy and you belong.It may not feel like that because your body has learned to protect you, and disconnection is one of the ways it’s been doing so.The Three Protective PatternsOver the past few months, I’ve started noticing three protective patterns women tend to fall into when they no longer feel safe being fully connected to themselves and their bodies.I call them: ~The Stranger. ~The Intellectual. ~The Performer.I created a short Archetype Quiz to help you discover which protective pattern your body may be living in right now.You can take it here. I used to feel like a stranger to myself
What calling have you been sleeping on?I really want you to sit with that question for a second.What do you know in your heart you are meant to do, create, say, share, or become… but you keep letting fear, overthinking, distractions, excuses, or self-doubt stop you from fully stepping into it?Because I feel like I have finally gotten to the place where I’m letting myself fully do what I know in my heart I’m here to do and I want that for you too.The work I’m really here to doFor a long time, I’ve worked with women around forgiveness, relationships, visibility fears, healing what comes up in business and marketing, and all of that work matters to me. I love it.But my deeper calling is…Helping women love themselves and feel safe in their bodies again.Helping women stop living almost entirely from the mind and start building a deeper relationship with themselves through the body.And through learning how to actually be with themselves again.The StrangerWhen you come home to your body and to yourself, you can take action toward your purpose with so much more ease instead of fighting against yourself.And I know “coming home to yourself” gets said a lot now, but honestly… that really is the work.Because so many women are strangers to themselves.A lot of women treat themselves the way they treat the neighbor three doors down.You know they’re there, but you barely really connect with them.You hope you don’t accidentally run into them while taking the garbage out because then you’ll have to stop and talk.But you’d rather keep your distance.And that is how so many women live with themselves…distantBarely checking in, rarely listening, won’t sit with themselves long enough to really feel what’s there.Always in their heads or staying busy.And I’m here to change that!I understand why women are strangers to themselves.Because for a lot of women, the body does not feel safe to be in.It’s holding heartbreak, shame, fear, and old pain.So being fully present with yourself can feel like too much sometimes.I get that because I was there too.I didn’t like myself.I’d purposely get up and walk into the bathroom, look in the mirror and say the meanest things to myself.I also used to drink to avoid my feelings and the heaviness in my heart.But drinking daily wasn’t just drowning out my feelings, it was drowning out my soul’s calling as well.It’s hard to hear your intuition when you’re numbing, running away and avoiding yourself.Learning how to stayIt took work but I learned how to stay with myself no matter what.How to love myself even with dark circles, patchy skin, anger, moodiness, tenderness, peace, the full range of emotions that come to visit me.I quit running to alcohol when things felt heavy or I made a mistake that I wanted to forget about.I stopped making myself wrong for being fully human.And that’s changed my life.This journey, the good and the bad led me to my purpose.That is my magic.Helping women stop hiding and being strangers to themselves.Helping women trust their bodies and intuition again.And trust the feminine wisdom inside of them that has been trying to guide them to their purpose the whole time.So I’ll ask you againWhat calling have you been sleeping on?What are you here to do & how’s the journey going?Reply and share, I want to hear from you.Much love,Essence Get full access to The Self-Healing School at www.theselfhealingschool.com/subscribe

Just being with what they feel.And those things can be really beautiful.But if your body has been holding heavy emotional energy for years… sometimes just sitting there with it can feel like too much.There might be 20 or 30 years of sadness. Disappointment. Stress. Old hurt.That’s a lot for one body to hold.So if you’ve ever tried to slow down and immediately felt restless… or uncomfortable… or like you needed to distract yourself…There’s nothing wrong with you.Sometimes there’s just a lot there.Why Moving Energy HelpsOne thing I’ve learned over time is that healing isn’t always about sitting there and holding everything.Sometimes the body needs help releasing what it’s been carrying.When emotional energy starts to move, something shifts.Your body softens a little.Your breath gets deeper.And suddenly it feels easier to be present with yourself instead of feeling like you have to escape what you’re feeling.The Long-Term ShiftThe more you practice releasing what your body has been holding, the easier it becomes to actually be in your body.Your emotions don’t feel as overwhelming.There’s more space inside you.And it becomes easier to sit with yourself without feeling like you need to numb out or run away from what’s coming up.That’s the idea behind today’s Self-Healing Sunday practice.It’s simple. Are You a Lightworker (Even If You Don’t Call Yourself One)?
Sometimes when I tune into my soul and ask, “Who am I meant to help?”I hear the same phrase over and over:“Boots on the ground.”And the vision I always get is this map of the world lit up with little lights, not with gurus, just women who are carrying something sacred inside them.Women who don’t always identify with the word lightworker, but are one… quietly, naturally, without even trying.And maybe that’s you.I loved the title Lightworker long before I ever felt like one.When I first found spirituality, I was drawn to the word immediately.But the truth?My own inner light felt dim, like barely a flicker.I heard that raising my vibration would help, so I joined a Meetup group called Raise Your Vibration.Every week, we did energy practices, meditated, and learned intuitive exercises.And I met the most soulful people who weren’t coaches and healers (yet) but knew they were meant to bring the light.Is that you?Here are 9 Signs You Might Be a Lightworker1. You feel other people’s emotions deeply.2. You have intuitive hits, knowing, or psychic insights.3. You carry a natural wisdom that guides your decisions.4. That’s the part most people skip.The reason so many women struggle with getting their message across and being heard is because they try to do it while they’re angry.And I get it, that’s when it’s easiest. When you’re heated, it gives you courage and energy, that’s why those strong words just shoot out like a rocket.You can finally say all the things you’ve been holding in for months.But that anger… anger’s fiery.And when you get too close to fire, what do you do?You shield yourself.So when you come at your partner in anger, an invisible wall goes up around them.You could be saying the most heartfelt things, trying to explain how hurt or unseen you’ve felt but it’s not landing. It’s just bouncing off that wall, fading into space.They might nod or even say “yeah, you’re right, I feel you” but a month later, you’ll be right back in that same argument.Here’s the hard truth: once the fire fades, it takes real courage to sit with what’s underneath the anger, to feel the hurt and breathe it through it, and then speak only once you’ve found your peace again.It’s hard because your ego wants to avoid the hurt and vulnerability and instead to just let the chaos rip.But on this feminine healing path, your ego is not in control; your soul is.And that’s the work.One thing I help my clients do is learn how to create that calm within themselves.Through movement, breathwork, and grounding practices. They learn how to find their still point.Because when you’re calm, you’re rooted.You’re safe in yourself.So even if your partner doesn’t respond the way you hope, you stay steady.Remember, your anger isn’t wrong. What Are You Running From? (Time to Face Your Fear)

If you’ve ever let self-doubt talk you out of your calling, this is your permission to run toward it.Transcript:Having something like this has been a dream of mine for so long, but if I’m honest, I kept running from it.I kept telling myself I needed to learn more, or that I wasn’t ready yet.But what I realized over my summer of healing is that it wasn’t really about not being ready.It was my rejection wound trying to protect me.There’s a special kind of vulnerability that comes with starting something new, especially something close to your heart.My mind would whisper, What if no one joins? What if it fails? What if I embarrass myself?And underneath all that was fear.Not fear of failing but fear of being rejected and feeling unwanted.I thought I had already healed that wound years ago. I’d done so much work around abandonment and feeling unwanted. It helped me open my heart and attract a loving relationship.But this summer showed me my rejection wound was still alive, hiding under the surface, sitting right there in my root.Y’all, it was so freaking painful to look at it, but I stayed with it.And I began to see that every time I doubted myself, every time I let fear win and didn’t start this school, I was rejecting myself.I was rejecting my soul’s calling.Once I saw that, I couldn’t unsee it, I and I went to work to transmute that energy. What The Self-Healing School is Really About

I wanted to punish myself. I didn’t know it then, but I was living with a kind of self-hate that felt normal and the thought of having to live that way forever…woo, it feels unbearable.And I know there are so many women still living like that.It breaks my heart.7 years ago when I first started working with women, I was a Radical Forgiveness Coach helping them forgive their parents and partners.But what always felt the most sacred was watching them forgive themselves and them seeing their own beauty, maybe for the first time.I loved seeing the light that came into their eyes, that said “oh… maybe I am wonderful.” I would get so hyped and that’s the magic I’m after.Those moments helped me I realize what really matters to me: and it’s helping women heal their relationship with themselves (come home to themselves).So I dreamed up this space, this temple, this online sanctuary, where women can come to reconnect with themselves, to reawaken the parts of them that have been dimmed by life, love, or their own self-neglect.Because when we’ve been overdoing, over-giving, living in survival mode, and moving through life’s disappointments and heartbreak…our essence gets dulled. We build walls.
