Injury Prevention Isn’t a Program — It’s a System
In this episode of Total Athlete, Ryan Beckwith reframes the way athletes, parents, and coaches think about injury prevention.Rather than viewing injury prevention as a separate checklist or add-on, Ryan explains why the most effective injury prevention strategy is an integrated system. One that combines smart training, sport-specific movement, mental preparation, recovery habits, and clear communication between everyone on an athlete’s team (from surgeon to physical therapist to coaches).Drawing from personal experience, Ryan shares the story of a season-ending ankle injury in high school and the emotional toll that comes with suddenly losing your athletic identity. That experience shapes his belief that injuries must be addressed not only physically, but mentally and emotionally as well.
