Dylan is joined by Bryan Burkhardt to relive one incredible hunt, paying tribute to Fred Bear and Glenn St. Charles: The Little Delta Tribute Hunt.    Bryan is FULL of incredible bowhunting stories, but none as great as setting out to pay tribute to bowhunting legends and slipping an arrow into an incredible bull moose! 

What would it be like to WIN a SHEEP HUNT!? Darrell shot this incredible buck 40 years, to the day, after the first buck he ever killed.  Then on the pack out it dawned on him: this would be the last time he would ever have the ability to hunt those Nevada mountains that have made him who he is.  Go back and hunt those special places with the people that mean the most to you, because soon those opportunities will be gone and you’ll wish you had. 

Dylan is joined by Chris Parish and Justin Spring to talk about evolutionary psychology and how it influences predictable yet thoughtless behavior in hunters. The whole “think before you react” to a natural stimulus thing. It’s what should differentiate between the animal and human world, yet we are all products of biological forces. When Jason Matzinger began making his films, what he brought to the world was an entirely new way to look at a hunt. Dylan and Jason talk about his journey into film making, but really take a deep dive into his most recent film, Selective, and what it means to be a selective hunter. Don’t get it confused with trophy hunting. SELECTIVE hunting is understanding what animals need be taken off of the landscape, and targeting those animals. Selective hunting is understanding that sometimes we pass bulls with bigger antlers to shoot the older more mature bulls with less impressive antlers. The purpose of the episode? To help drive us to make more selective decisions in punching a tag. To get us to consider what animals we shoot and WHY. We are NOT here to tell you that you’re wrong. It’s your tag.
