The Village Podcast

The Village Podcast is where we have real conversations about all topics and explore ideas, perspectives, and experiences. The host or chief tj dives into real conversations about relationships, masculinity, spirituality, culture, life, and what it means to be truly human. Each episode blends truth, humor, and self-awareness — the kind of talks you’d have in a barbershop or late at night in the kitchen when life gets real. No filters. No perfection. Just stories and principles that help you think deeper, laugh lighter, love harder, and live consciously — while modeling what honest, genuine conversation looks like and building a community that puts humanity first and ideology second and that supports a higher cause.

#9 x How a Utah Mom Accidentally Became a City Council Member

Today on The Village Podcast, I sit down with an Orem City Council member to talk about what it means to show up for your community — even when it’s not part of your plan. She shares her journey of becoming a city council member, how she went from simply noticing a problem to becoming part of a movement that led to her being elected four years later. We talk about how local politics works, the impact one person can make, and the reality of balancing leadership while being a mom, a wife, and a person with multiple chapters unfolding at once.

    #8 x dysfunctional backrounds x trauma x multicultural relationships x life

In today’s episode, we dive deep into what it really looks like growing up in chaos—cultural marriages, dysfunctional families, church pressure, trauma, and why kindness matters more than ever.

#7 x Growing Up Black x Adopted in Utah x Football, Identity x The Utah Bubble

In this episode of The Village Podcast, we explore a deep and honest conversation about growing up Black and adopted in Utah, navigating identity, family, football culture, LDS environments, and the realities of the “Utah Bubble.”   We also talk about serving a mission during COVID, meeting Swahili families, gaining perspective, and how good parenting shapes emotional resilience. This episode is raw, vulnerable, and one of our most impactful yet.   Available on all platforms — new episodes weekly.

#6 x Late night vibes x Deep State x Conspiracies x Everything In Between

This episode feels like one of those late-night talks with the boys — unfiltered, curious, and a little all over the place. We get into the deep state, conspiracy theories, sales and influence, the PCP method, and some Polynesian culture sprinkled in. It’s all about open conversation and the kind of real talk that gets you thinking and fosters awareness and a good time.

#5 x Healing Hidden Roots x Samoan Adoption x Masculinity x Finding Yourself

In this episode, we unpack a deep part of Samoan culture — adoption. My guest shares his story of being adopted and the emotional impact of growing up without knowing his full truth. From identity struggles to broken relationships, he opens up about how family history work helped him begin to heal and reconnect with himself.   We also dive into masculinity, reassurance, and the unseen ways trauma shapes how men show up in life and love. This conversation is about breaking silence, reclaiming truth, and learning to grow from the pain that shaped us.   🪶 Topics we explore: Samoan and Polynesian adoption traditions The pain of hidden family history Healing generational trauma through self-awareness Masculinity, reassurance, and vulnerability Finding peace through family and truth   🎙️ Hosted by Chief Taimi — real conversations on culture, growth, and becoming better men.

Episode 4 x Breaking the Silence: Mental Health x Motherhood in Polynesian Culture

A real talk with my mom about mental health, motherhood, and culture. She shares what it was like being born in Samoa, moving to America as a kid, and learning to balance work, family, and identity. We talk about how mental health has changed the game — especially in Polynesian households — and why applying what we learn matters more than just talking about it.   It’s heartfelt, honest, and a reminder that growth starts with awareness.

  7. 3

Episode 3 x Lost Between Two Worlds x Growing Up Polynesian in Cali

A real conversation with my dad about life, faith, and growth. We talk about what it was like for Samoans coming to America — facing new struggles, addictions, and influences — and what it means to grow beyond your environment.   It’s raw, honest, and unplanned — the kind of back-and-forth that shows how much you can learn just by listening and being willing to bring your thoughts to life.

Pilot Episode 2: The future Perfusionist... starting to find the groove

Welcome to the Village, and in this second pilot of The Village Podcast, Chief Taimi sits down for a genuine conversation about AI, education, purpose, and perspective. His guest — a perfusionist who works in the operating room — opens up about his journey through school, growing up with his father’s influence, and how those experiences shaped his mindset today. Together, they unpack how artificial intelligence is changing the future of work and creativity and why it’s important to keep curiosity and humility at the center of growth. The talk also touches on figures like Charlie Kirk, exploring how ideas about leadership, truth, community, and constructing a statue for Charlie at UVU. No scripts. No filters. Just real talk about life, learning, and where we’re headed next.

Pilot Episode 1: Getting a feel and trying to find my flow

In the first-ever episode of The Village Podcast, I'm just getting a feel for it — the setup, the message, and my flow (and yes, I even forgot to turn the mic on). The post isn’t perfect, but that’s the point. I didn’t want the need to be perfect to stop me from starting. I know i get better, but I had to start. This conversation touches on Polynesian culture, what it’s like marrying into it, the lessons that come with family, and some of the real experiences that shaped me — including moments of struggle and growth from my childhood and the other 2 guests' upbringings. None of this is about blame. It’s about reflection. I’m just sharing my story honestly, hoping someone else might feel less alone in their own journey. This is where it begins — imperfect, real, and honest. One episode at a time. 🎙️ Welcome to The Village.
