Hagen Hunt was raised on his family’s farming and ranching operation and he knew that’s what he wanted to do from an early age. After figuring out college wasn’t for him he decided to go all in. Clint Hoelting always wanted to be a cowboy and he bounced around doing just that. From feedyards to bull riding and taking any jobs he could in between. A lot of people start businesses like these but can’t handle the hardships that come along with them at the beginning. They both started small. Dustin just started building gear that he used while he was cowboying. He kept playing with it and improving it and pretty soon his friends were wanting to buy some of it as well. Now it’s grow into basically a full time job and cowboying is now a fun day off from the shop. Andrea started the boutique out of a trailer going to rodeos with Dustin. She had enough success that she rented a building in town and has since grown enough to buy a bigger location. Her boutique has been able to keep growing while many others struggle or fail. This episode will be very beneficial to any small business owners, but especially the ones in those businesses. Ross Hecox has been able to build a business that combines his two passions, writing and horses. You’ve probably read some of Ross’s work in popular magazines like Western Horseman or maybe listened to his podcast Cowboy Life. He had a passion for horses at an early age but also fell in love with storytelling so he got out of school and went to work for a magazine in the equine world. From there he worked his way to Western Horseman which at the time was the biggest publication around in the industry. While he loved covering all the topics in our industry he really enjoyed telling the story of the rancher. This led him to also start a podcast called Cowboy Life where’s he interviewed some of the best cowboys and cattlemen out there.
