Trust Yourself Anyway: Designing a Life That Fits. What does it mean to "design a life that fits"? How can you feel empowered when you don't feel confident? In this episode of WECAN, Stephanie talks to the incredible Sally Miller, an award-winning fashion designer, author, and one of the most profoundly heart-driven creative leaders you will ever meet. WECAN | Building the World We Want to See & Orchestrated Connecting

In this episode of WECAN, I had the absolute pleasure of interviewing David Homan, founder of Orchestrated Connecting and author of Orchestrating Connections - known as a “Connector of Connectors,” David connects people. David is an intentional idealist who has managed something rare. He has built trust and a purposeful world around him that mirrors his deepest values back to him. He is a deeply generous human who cares about the greater good more than anything else, and listening to his dreams and the massive action he takes to achieve them is a true shot of hope. We live in a world that often feels fractured, but David reminds us that trust is the cornerstone. He doesn’t just talk about community; he engineers it. Through his global network of 2,600 connectors and his platform SOAR Connect, David creates immersive frameworks where authenticity and vulnerability aren't just "nice to have", they are the requirements for giving a piece of our soul to others and finding true connection. He is also a recognised classical composer whose music can be found by saying “Alexa–please play the music of David Homan,” with 7 albums and international radio play. His latest project is a film or mini-series about a composer who loses his mind to Alzheimer’s. A Note from Stephanie: Listening to David made me dream bigger. It made me want to double down even more on creating the world I want to see and be a part of. We all have the power to co-create our ideal reality for ourselves and each other; it doesn’t even take that much. Ask yourself today: What can I do for someone else? What will my ripple effect be? WECAN | Redefining Industrial Investing with Marianne Abib-Pech

In this powerful episode of WECAN, Stephanie chats with Early Stage Investor and Managing Partner at Transitions First, Marianne Abib-Pech, to discuss how she's redefining investing. Marianne is an extraordinary, unconventional leader who draws power from the uncharted path. As a true systems and transformation thinker, Marianne is federating the right people at the right levels to bring about a vital industrial renaissance for Europe. She is an outlier, investing in a completely underserved area and giving us a front-row seat to an actual systems transformation as it happens. As a results-driven professional who has dedicated the past 10 years to ventures that contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, she understands that Industrial founders lack three things: Talent, Time, and Continued Capital. She is a hands-on investor with a portfolio of 20+ international startups, who lives by the motto: Challenge, Support, and Protect. She acts as a powerful bridge between entrepreneurship and investment, believing that true value creation comes from the ability to connect, communicate, and transform. Marianne is showing us in real time how to lead, how to think, and how to succeed. She is an extraordinary human being with a real sense of what the world needs right now. WECAN: Turning Pain into Purpose with Bishop Kevin Foreman

In today's episode of WECAN, we're diving into our Spiritual & Entrepreneur Series as Stephanie discusses purpose with Bishop Kevin Foreman, his life story and leadership philosophy. This isn't just a success story; it’s the ultimate "rags to riches" journey that proves how connecting your spirituality with your business can create the assets needed to change the world.Bishop Foreman became Denver's most influential African American and founded Harvest Church and Bible College, leading with a profound four-part creed: Love God, Love People, Love Life, and Make History. He is a man who truly wants people to win, and whether he’s building a business or a ministry, his mission is centred on one question: How do you want to matter?Bishop Foreman shares his "Pain to Purpose" philosophy, challenging us to look at our lives with radical intention. He believes we can, and must, re-learn how to love people, even when we don’t agree with them. It’s a skill we can train ourselves to master to make the world a better place through small and big acts of kindness. For entrepreneurs, he strips away the fluff and delivers the "BB" (About That Business) truth: success comes down to the right marketing and the right people. His golden rule? Execute imperfectly. Don't let the trap of perfection stop you from starting. Connect with Bishop Kevin Foreman: https://www.harvestchurch.church/bishop-kevin-foreman Explore his Books: https://www.harvestchurch.church/books Stephanie was deeply inspired by the reminder that we all have the power to be "history makers" in our own communities. WECAN | Lisa Bonos on Her Career Transition in Journalism & The Washington Post

What a truly wonderful human Lisa Bonos is! In this episode, we are given a front-row seat to a major career transition in journalism unfolding in real time. After 20 years as a reporter for The Washington Post, Lisa recently experienced a layoff. Instead of shying away from the uncertainty, she is here to share exactly what it feels like to reset, pivot, and decide what comes next. We often only hear about career changes after they’ve been "figured out." Lisa breaks that mould. She shares the raw reality of being in a "limbo" state and shows us how to navigate fear with an incredible secret weapon: Curiosity. By treating this phase as an exciting period of discovery rather than just a negative setback, Lisa offers a masterclass in resilience. I had such a lovely time with Lisa, and I think her perspective is exactly what we all need to hear right now. Whether you are facing a career change or just feeling the weight of the unknown, Lisa’s journey will leave you feeling encouraged and inspired. We honour and celebrate you and your journey, Lisa! WECAN on Demystifying Equity for the Next Generation of Leaders with Celeste Warren

Today's episode of WECAN, global diversity and inclusion leader Celeste Warren shares her mission to make equity accessible and actionable for everyone. Drawing from her experience as a Chief Diversity Officer at a Fortune 100 company, she discusses her book, “The Truth About Equity.” She provides a roadmap for leaders and individuals to build truly inclusive environments. Celeste shares how her lifelong commitment to equity was inspired by her father, who broke barriers as the first Black teacher and principal in his community. She views DEI not as a specialised initiative, but as "Management 101" and a fundamental business practice. The Six Steps to Equity from her book, The Truth About Equity, Celeste outlines a practical framework for creating change: Awareness: Recognising the gaps and biases. Access: Ensuring opportunities are available to all. Advocacy: Using your platform to support others. Action: Implementing equity into daily habits. Accountability: Measuring progress and taking responsibility. Empowerment: Giving others the tools to succeed. We are incredibly thankful to Celeste for speaking so plainly about a topic that has recently faced significant pushback. By providing clear business cases and a management approach, she proves how DEI is crucial to supporting broader business objectives. WECAN Create a Ripple Effect With Shoshana Stewart: Helping People Help Themselves

In this episode of WECAN, Stephanie talks with Shoshana Stewart, President of the Turquoise Mountain Foundation, about the ripple effect of her work. We all know the headlines are heavy, but we have the power to choose a different narrative. Together, we tackle a frustrating trend in the non-profit world: the push to fund only "simple," hyper-scalable programs that often miss the actual community work entirely. Turquoise Mountain, founded in 2006 by His Majesty King Charles III, is a charitable organisation working directly with artisan communities around the world to protect and revitalise cultural heritage. The most effective way to change the world is by building integrated, human-scale programs that respond to real-time human needs. We discuss why "helping people help themselves" is the most effective way to spend your charity dollars. When you support an artisan, you aren't just buying a product; you are investing in a community’s health, education, and water. When we help a mother, we directly help the next generation and at least five other people. The ripple effect is massive. Shoshana’s journey, from astrophysics to restoring 150 historic buildings in Kabul, shows us that resourcefulness and a big vision can overcome even the most volatile global instability. Everything she does works toward a world where people are empowered to protect their own beauty and history. At WECAN, we believe that fast and cheap is not the way forward. We want objects with soul and programs with heart. Shoshana reminds us that we have the power to change buying patterns and support initiatives that offer dignity, pride, and a future for the next generation. We honour and celebrate Shoshana, her purpose and the invaluable work she does every day. Please give generously and support her work. Links are below. This isn't just an insight into media, it’s a reflection on how friendship can serve as the ultimate foundation for a professional venture and a remedy for the modern "loneliness epidemic." Andrea and Emily show how we can have limitless love in friendship, blasting the barriers we set between ourselves and making room for a friendship and love that we all might long for. Emily and Andrea share their journey of weaving stories and people together, proving that when we integrate information through deeper connection, we don't just learn, we transform. Traditional networking often feels hollow, and digital content can leave us feeling isolated. Emily and Andrea are redefining what it means to share a stage, shifting the focus from "presentation" to integration. Through poetry, music, and radical transparency, they show us how to find the words for our truths and the remedies for our collective challenges. Some key takeaways from connecting with Andrea and Emily are community first and moving beyond the speaker-audience divide to create immersive, circular formats where everyone is a participant. Authentic love, where learning to give love as a "gift" without the attachment to validation. And finally, we can create sacred spaces where there is the potential for future collaborations that combine storytelling with ancient practices of connection. 00:00 Meet Andrea and Emily 05:30 Season 2 of Circle This 08:30 Creating Deeper Connections 15:50 Partnership 25:25 Love and Keeping the Flame Alive 39:48 Plans and Goals 45:40 The Future of Events 🔗 Connect with Our Guests Listen to Circle This Podcast: https://open.spotify.com/show/2vedOp5rp2h2IET51LhWBP?si=cbb54dcebf054701 #DeeperConnections #EmilyKratter #AndreaBendewald #WeCan #CircleThis ________________________________________________________________________ For any questions or inquiries regarding this video, please reach out to us @Wecan.Shecan 🔔 Don’t forget to subscribe, share your thoughts, and tell us who your favourite role model is? 👉 Connect with us on: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/wecan.shecan/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/shecan-world/ Substack: https://shecan.substack.com Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/0MAiuylxS5AhxCSQcm8cax?si=003fe73047cd465cYour Story Matters! WECAN Show The Magic of Being Seen With Mike Brcic, by Building Connection Through Immersive Experiences

Thank you for joining us as we explore how Mike Brcic uses immersive experiences to help us slow down, mine the gold of our own challenges, and find the courage to be seen and connected in all our messy, beautiful truths. Mike is the founder of Wayfinders, and in this Episode he explores with Stephanie how creating immersive experiences in remote places brings entrepreneurs back to themselves, for a deep dive into the truths unearthed when we leave the noise of the world behind to find ourselves. Mike doesn't just share a business timeline, he honours the gold mined from his own life, the pivots, the silences, and the profound realisation that being "seen" is the ultimate catalyst for growth. Mike’s story is a testament to the magic that happens when we are willing to be vulnerable. He reflects on his transition from the high-pressure "cult of the individual" to a life centred on connection. From walking away from a successful but soul-draining business to building something rooted in alignment. He is responsible for taking leaders to the edges of the earth, from the monasteries of Bhutan to the wilds of Iceland. Mike creates a sanctuary where entrepreneurs can drop their armour and shows us that when one person is brave enough to be seen, it creates a ripple effect, helping everyone else feel safe enough to do the same. While the locations are remote, the real 'immersive experiences' are the journeys inward. Mike teaches us how to listen to the subtle messages of the heart that are often drowned out by the hustle. He discusses the vital importance of showing up as our full selves in every role, as fathers, partners, and friends, not just as CEOs. We are so grateful for Mike's story and his insights that teach us so much. We honour his journey and celebrate his wisdom. John Frieda's Life: The Story Behind the Hairstylist Who Transformed Haircare

Discover the story behind one of the most influential names in haircare in this exclusive WECAN Interview with legendary hairstylist John Frieda. For more than 30 years, the John Frieda® brand has been on a mission to transform hair with salon-quality results by addressing the very specific needs of every hair type. From brightening blonde and brunette tones to controlling curls, boosting volume, and fighting frizz, the brand’s innovations are designed to help people reveal what makes their hair and their style unique. Before there was Frizz Ease and Sheer Blonde, there was a boy in a London salon who believed hair care could do more than just clean hair, it could unlock confidence. The story began in the mid-1970s, when English star hairdresser John Frieda opened his first salon on New Cavendish Street in London. His expertise quickly made him one of the most sought-after stylists in fashion and celebrity circles. He famously created the "Purdey" cut, iconic in Melon Hat and Leather Boots. Through years of working in salons and on fashion shoots, John Frieda developed a deep understanding of how different hair types behave and why they require different solutions. Frizz, dull blonde, brunette colour maintenance, fine hair lacking volume… he realised there was no universal answer for everyone. That insight led him to develop targeted haircare innovations designed to solve real hair challenges and deliver visible transformations. "Your hair is not just unique. It’s an extension of who you are and a way to express yourself. Your hair goals are for you, and they change and evolve just like you do. At John Frieda, we are all about empowering you with transformational tools to achieve those goals, for hair that makes you feel confident, lets you express your true self and unlocks the beautiful power within you." Saving Democracy in America: Liz Minnella on Messaging & Grassroots Power

We sat down with Democratic fundraiser, activist, and media entrepreneur, Elizabeth Minnella, for a candid conversation about saving democracy and the future of political organising and messaging in the United States. Liz shares her journey from mobilising women voters during the 2020 election to becoming a connector and strategist working to strengthen progressive voices online. As the founder of ConnectForward.org and host of the Demfluence Podcast, she operates at the intersection of politics, fundraising, digital media, and grassroots organising. Together, we explore the evolving political landscape and the urgent need for more effective and inclusive messaging. Liz reflects on lessons learned from recent elections, including how harsh rhetoric and partisan framing can sometimes alienate the very voters movements hope to reach. She discusses her own “strategic reset” and why pragmatic dialogue, community organising, and coalition-building are essential to rebuilding trust across political divides. Defending democracy isn’t only the work of politicians or institutions but something everyday people can do in their own communities. Whether through organising, conversation, or digital engagement, each of us has a role to play. If you care about democracy, political engagement, and building bridges in a divided era, this is a conversation you won’t want to miss. Fundraiser. Activist. Connector. As part of our January Recap, Katrina Johnston-Zimmerman is an urban anthropologist and lecturer from Philadelphia. In this talk, part of our January recap series, she explores how thinking like an urban anthropologist can transform the way we design, experience, and shape our cities. Katrina was named to the BBC’s 100 Women list (2019) for her advocacy for women and girls in urban environments. She is the co-founder of The Women Led Cities Initiative and focuses on direct observation—how people move through space, interact with the built environment, and connect with each other both physically and digitally. One of Katrina’s most striking points is that cities aren’t neutral; they carry implicit biases based on who has historically designed them. Because most urban design has been shaped by men, public spaces often reflect male-centric assumptions about movement, safety, and value. Katrina’s work asks: What happens when we intentionally design cities through a different lens? By understanding cities as habitats for our species, we can rethink urban planning, policy, and design to create cities that truly work for people. Wherever she goes, Katrina observes, questions, and studies human behaviour to better understand how cities shape our lives—and how we can shape them back. When we think of cities as habitats for humanity, they take on a whole new meaning. Would you agree?
