by sparking compassionate curiosity towards sex and our bodies
Sex is something that we all navigate at some point in our lives, but it isn’t something that we often get accurate information about or talk about with our friends, doctors, therapists, lovers, or even spouses. This silence and shame can affect us in many ways – including in preventing us from having better sex. Join Kelsey Britt, a certified sexuality educator and trauma-informed yoga teacher as she talks to sexuality professionals, teachers, parents, health & wellness practitioners, and other folks about what messages they received about sex across their lives and how these messages have impacted their lives and work. If you’ve ever felt alone in your experience around sex, or just want to improve your sex life, this podcast is for you! thecuriousclit.substack.com

Episode 03: On Pleasing Ourselves with TL Amor
In this third episode of thecuriousclit podcast, I am joined by my good friend TL Amor. TL Amor (she/her) is an international school teacher, an incredible singer, a ukulele player, and one of the funniest and most warm-hearted people that I know TL is not in the sexuality field, but I’ve always loved the talks that we have about sex, and this conversation was no different. We talked about so many things, including:* Having the sex talk (spoiler alert: it wasn’t her mom that gave it to her!)* Her experience with hookup culture & the peer pressure to conform* Being fetishized on dating apps for being fat* Solo sex, sex toys, and the process of learning about her body and what she likes in bed* Being a clitbitch (fuck yes!)* Her tendency to think about other people’s pleasure, and not her own – even during solo sex* The positive impact of having a partner who cares about our pleasure* Her tips for having sex that is more aligned with your own wants and needs* Being a teacher & her advice to parents for talking to their kids about sexI’m so grateful that TL agreed to be on the podcast. The things that TL said during our talk made me laugh at some moments and feel like crying at others.I can’t wait for you to listen - hopefully it helps you discover something new about yourself and/or feel less alone in your experiences.Stay tuned - TL will have her own podcast later this year, and I’ll be sure to update this page when she does!Thank you for reading the thecuriousclit, my newsletter + podcast where I hope to spark curiosity and conversations about sex and our bodies. Episode 02: On Speaking Your Truth with Brandi Hearn
A big thank you to Brandi Hearn, who joined me for this second episode of thecuriousclit Podcast! I met Brandi at my yoga teacher training last year, and she is a dear friend and someone who has been inspiring me on my own healing journey.I am soooo excited to share this episode, and I can’t wait to hear what you think About Brandi:Brandi Hearn (she/her) is a strong, dedicated, resilient wife and mother to 3 teenage boys. Life has tried to make her lose her balance many times, every time yoga has been there to help her regain her focus and reconnect with her heart. Health challenges took hold in March of 2022, the stress and trauma associated with her career (as the Assistant to the Chief of Police) and the violence tearing through black homes (such as hers), communities and families, was too much for her body to bear. She was hospitalized and diagnosed with C-PTSD, Functional Neurological Disorder, non-epileptic seizures, tics, tremors, anxiety, extreme fatigue and a host of other limitations; all of which were stress related. The need to establish the mind/body connection was overwhelming. When Western Medicine could only offer a spot on a waitlist, Brandi's main focus became educating herself about the mental and physical benefits of yoga, meditation, body awareness, mind/body connections, emotional regulation, stress reduction and nervous system regulation.Since March of 2022, she has completed Reiki Master training, a 200-hour YTT with Yandara Yoga Institute, a 200-hour Trauma-Informed YTT with School Yoga Institute, as well as continued education in the areas of Re-parenting Your Inner Child, A Deep Dive Into the Chakras, Intuition Awakening and Yoga Through the Lens of Incarceration and Trauma. She is currently working on a 95-hour kids YTT, a 300-hour YTT, a Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Course, Pranayama (Breathwork) Certification, as well as an Ayurvedic Nutritionist Certification. Right now her sole focus is healing and finding out how to work with her body to provide an environment to nurture herself back to a whole way of being. After that, who knows what the future may hold.In the first part of the conversation, we talk about the way that trauma and stress have impacted Brandi’s life:-how repressing the expression of her truths has impacted Brandi’s health-her experience with Western medical care and pursuing alternate methods of healing-how the support of her husband, sons, and friends has impacted her healing-healing by addressing trauma and stress (the root causes of her illness), rather than focusing on the symptoms-prioritizing herself for the first time in her lifeIn the second part of the conversation, we talk about Brandi’s early experiences with sex:-being curious about sex as a kid-some of the experiences that led to her repressing her curiosity & delight in her body-how her childhood shaped the way that she parents her kids & what she teaches them about sex-what the process of healing from her illness & being open about sex has brought to her family-how sex has been one of the places where she feels like she can be present in her body & has been a place of healing-“felt” vs. “said” sense of safety and how having a “felt” sense of safety has helped her explore sexually-her tips to other survivors of how to approach sex as they’re healing-what a yes and what a no feels like her in bodySo much gratitude to Brandi for sharing her story with us! You can keep up with Brandi’s journey at:Instagram: @the_cosmichivemotherFacebook: Brandie ForeignNext year, she will be supporting her friend at a yoga retreat in the beautiful Cabo Pulmo, Mexico! The retreat is called “Finding Joy in Your Journey” and will take place on March 6th-12th, 2024. There will be yoga flows and mantra and mudra meditation, beachfront swimming, amazing food, and a Cacao ceremony. My guest on this first episode of the thecuriousclit podcast is Kingston Magee.Kingston (he/him) is a DJ & producer, community organizer, and dog dad ✨He’s also my partner and a dear friend that has helped me so much on my own journey (in life and in sexuality)😌🫂🥰There are so many gems in this conversation 🥹 He opens up about finding his dad's porn stash, what happened during & in the aftermath of his first sexual experience, how past partners have helped him have better sex, his journey of unlearning teachings from toxic masculinity and how that has impacted his sex/kink life, and the strength that can be found in being soft and open 🌊We talk about a magical, yet incredibly vulnerable night we had in Joshua Tree where we watched porn together — and also about being non-monogamous and our evolving identities and exploration in the kink world (and a night together that impacted these for both of us) 🎨 He also shares about his recent work making music, DJ-ing, and helping to organize kink and music events in Los Angeles 🎚️🎉🎼While we’ve shared a lot in the nearly four years we’ve known each other, I learned new things about him in this conversation & have been feeling inspired by the tender Pisces wisdom he drops! To check out more of his work, you can visit:Soundcloud: https://on.soundcloud.com/dPSPhYmVki18dhBb8Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/cocoabuttercurtains_/?hl=enShhugar.LA Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/shhugar.la/?hl=enThank you for reading the thecuriousclit, my newsletter + podcast where I hope to spark curiosity and conversations about sex and our bodies.
