This week at NedSpace.pdx we are talking about the impact Prosper Portland has for entrepreneurs and small business in Portland. The events that bring Portland together as a community, the help they provide with grants, events, and education. The value they gave not only through the pandemic but continue to give as Portland navigates its way back. We need Prosper Portland to be able to continue doing what they do best – ignite and support Portland. Hear direct impact stories from small businesses at NedSpace, Portland’s OG co-working space.What is happening:Notice of Budget Committee MeetingsNotice is hereby given, pursuant to ORS 294.426(5), that Budget Committee meetings of Prosper Portland, Multnomah County, State of Oregon, to discuss the budget for the fiscal year (FY) July 1, 2025 to June 30, 2026, will be held on the following dates and times. The purpose of the meeting is to hear the Proposed Budget message and receive the Proposed Budget document.On Wednesday, May 14, 2025, the the Prosper Portland Budget Committee will hold a second Budget Committee meeting. The meeting will be at 4:00 p.m. All meetings are available to the public on the City’s YouTube Channel, eGov PDX, the Open Signal website, and Xfinity Channel 30 and 330.The initial meeting of the Prosper Portland Budget Committee was held on Thursday, May 8, 2025, and included public testimony. The Wednesday, May 14 meeting will focus on Budget Committee questions and feedback. A final Budget Committee meeting to approve the budget will also provide opportunity for public testimony and is scheduled for Wednesday, May 21, 2025, beginning at 9:00 a.m. Public testimony registration will be available beginning Friday, May 16 at 9:00 a.m.To testify during the May 21st meeting (virtually or in-person), you must sign up in advance on the Council agenda at https://www.portland.gov/council/agenda. You may choose to testify virtually or in-person at City Hall, Council Chambers, 2nd Floor – 1221 SW Fourth Avenue, Portland, OR 97204. Learn more about attending a meeting in-person. Registration for virtual testimony closes one hour prior to the Council meeting. This week of action features a series of community gatherings, culminating in a historic rally on May 24th at Revolution Hall and a peaceful march through downtown Portland and the Burnside Bridge.https://www.brownhope.org/get-involved/events/wearethebridgepdxNonviolence and De-escalation Training: 6pm on Thursday, May 15 at openHAUS (5020 NE MLK Blvd). Facilitated by the Portland Peace Team, this training teaches how to foster peace during moments of conflict using the CLARA de-escalation method.Community Grief Circle: 12:30pm on Saturday, May 17 at Alberta Park (1905 NE Killingsworth St). Experienced facilitators will lead activities that help attendees release emotional wounds connected to George Floyd’s murder and racial violence. Concludes with an optional community potluck.Know Your Rights Training: 6pm on Thursday, May 22nd, Online. Facilitated by the National Lawyers Guild, the workshop covers constitutional rights related to activism and police interactions at first amendment events.We Are The Bridge Rally and March: noon on Saturday, May 24th at Revolution Hall (1300 SE Stark St). A rally featuring Black and Indigenous leaders, followed by a peaceful march through downtown Portland with a moment of silence on Burnside Bridge. This is a public episode.
