Threads & Tea

This is where mind, myth, and meaning meet.Putting meaning to our life is what makes it beautiful. We want to feel that we’re worth more than our work. That our breath holds more than air. In this podcast, I look for stories of people who set meaning to their lives. I also bring in ideas from the fascinating thinkers of history, and I use mythology to explore the emotional and spiritual currents that affect our lives. Because all the words, stories, and ideas are only air until our bodies live them and give them breath. This is what makes meaning. It is breath drenched in living.

    Welcome to The Tea Room

I’m S. Rochelle, the founder and owner of Seed of Life Artisan Teas. I blend and sell loose leaf tea creations and have entirely too many books to count. The tea life that I stumbled into ten years ago was the beginning of a healing journey that I’ve always wanted to share. In this space, I offer tea of course, but also books, poetry, beauty, inspiration, and the ways healing found me. That's what this virtual tea room is for. Instead of the longer podcast episodes of Season 1, Season 2 will be short 10 minute episodes weaving together threads of healing, hope, and inspiration. My hope is that it feels like an analog space in a digital world. Welcome.

Between What Was and What Is Yet To Come

In this episode, I take a different path. Instead of stories of people who set meaning to their lives, I highlight the times when we can’t find meaning. The in-between times. I use the Grimm’s fairytale of Allerleirauh to explore these times, and talk about the ways stories can speak into our lives when other language falls short. I bring in Bessel Van Der Kolk’s book, The Body Keeps the Score, and share a personal story of the place art played in my life when religion’s words failed to reach me. I end with some of John O’Donohue’s beautiful wisdom on renaming the barren seasons as thresholds to new life. If you enjoyed this episode, please give it a like and a share. And if it resonated with you, I would love to hear from you. Thank you for being here.-S. RochelleWebsite: www.srochelle.comAuthor's Note: If you have listened to the first two episodes you may notice the name change from the original Human Frontier Podcast to Threads & Tea. I have changed the name to Threads & Tea to reflect the name I write under on other writing publications. It's simply more cohesive and keeps my writing Interests under the same name. Thank you for understanding.

    The Oak in the Acorn

In this episode I explore the stories of an Olympic athlete, an inventor, and a teacher. I also talk about the cultivation of the human spirit, and include a beautiful gem from James Hillman's book, The Soul's Code, on the ways our destinies play out in our lives. The Power of Thought and Memory

In this episode, I visit some powerful stories of free thinkers who changed their worlds. Some were honored and some were hated, but all stand tall in history as people of courage and independent thought. I look at ways free thought has been silenced throughout history, how it is still silenced today, and the power of memory to protect self identity through the lens of the movie Gaslight.I share a story from our modern times about a library that survived a war.Enjoy! If you have a story you would like to share, please reach out to me via email at [email protected].
