Episode 71: You’re already somebody.
There’s a quiet belief that a lot of people carry… that one day—when everything finally falls into place—they’ll become somebody. When the job title comes. When the money is right. When the recognition shows up. Then it will count. But what if that moment isn’t what makes you somebody? In this episode, we challenge the idea that your worth is waiting somewhere in the future. Because the truth is, you’re already living a life that matters more than you probably give yourself credit for. You show up. You carry responsibility. You support others. You keep going—even on the days when it would be easier not to. That’s not “becoming somebody.” That’s being somebody. This conversation is a reminder that you don’t have to earn your identity through milestones and achievements. You don’t have to wait for permission to matter. If you’re trying, growing, and showing up—you’re already making it. If you’ve ever felt like you’re behind, or like you haven’t quite “arrived” yet, this episode will help you reframe what it really means to be somebody… and recognize that you’ve been that person all along.

Episode 70: Give what you’ve got.
Some days, you’ve got a full tank. And other days… you’re running on whatever’s left. In this episode, I’m coming to you after an early morning, a long drive to my daughter’s soccer game, a full day at the fire school, and the realization that the weekend—and this podcast—snuck up on me. And honestly? I don’t have a whole lot left in the tank today. But that’s exactly the point. We live in a world that constantly tells us to give 100%—to go all in, all the time. But what happens when 100% just isn’t there? What if all you’ve got is a little? Today, we’re talking about why it’s okay to give a little when a little is all you have. Why making the easy dinner, folding half the laundry, or showing up in a smaller way still counts. And why recognizing your capacity isn’t a weakness—it’s awareness. This episode might be a little shorter. A little quieter. A little less polished. But it’s real. And maybe that’s exactly what you need to hear today. Because a little still counts.

Episode 69: Whatever you’re ready for is ready for you.
What if the opportunities you’ve been waiting for… are actually waiting on you? I’ve had a simple reminder sitting on my desk that says, “Whatever you are ready for is ready for you.” And the more I think about it, the more I realize—there are two sides to that truth. On one side, there’s comfort. The belief that things will come your way when the time is right. That not everything has to be forced. That sometimes, patience and trust in the process are exactly what you need. But on the other side… there’s responsibility. Because being “ready” isn’t something that just happens. It’s something you build. It’s the work you put in when no one is watching. It’s the preparation, the practice, the discipline, and the growth that shape you into someone who can actually handle the opportunity when it shows up. In this episode, I explore what it really means to be ready—not just in theory, but in action. We’ll talk about the difference between waiting and preparing, how to start taking meaningful steps toward the things you say you want, and why confidence is often the result of effort, not the prerequisite for it. If something you’ve been hoping for showed up tomorrow… would you be ready for it? And if the answer is no—what can you start doing today to change that? Because maybe it’s not just about waiting for the right moment. Maybe it’s about becoming the person who’s ready when it arrives.

Episode 68: Leave it better than you found it.
What does it really mean to be a leader? It’s easy to think leadership is about titles, authority, or being the one in charge—but what if it’s something much simpler… and much more impactful? In this episode, Todd explores a powerful idea: the true measure of leadership is whether you leave people and situations better than you found them. Drawing from real experiences in the fire service, including time spent as a chief officer, Todd shares what leadership looks like when the stakes are high and decisions matter. But this conversation doesn’t stop there—because leadership isn’t limited to emergency scenes or corner offices. It shows up in our homes, our workplaces, and our everyday interactions. Whether you’re raising a family, working on a team, or simply trying to show up better in your relationships, this episode will challenge you to rethink your role and your impact. You don’t need a title to lead. You just need intention. In this episode, you’ll learn: Why leadership is about impact, not position How small actions create a lasting ripple effect A simple framework to help you “leave it better” in everyday life How to lead in a way that develops others—even if they never become leaders themselves Because at the end of the day, leadership isn’t about being remembered for what you achieved… It’s about being remembered for how people felt and who they became because you were there.

Episode 67: Rest Before You’re Ready
What if the reason you’re so exhausted… is because you’ve been waiting too long to rest? In this episode, I’m talking about something I’m actively living through right now—learning to slow down before your body forces you to. So many of us push through the early signs of fatigue, telling ourselves we’ll rest later… after the next task, the next shift, the next busy season. But “later” has a way of turning into burnout, overwhelm, or even getting sick. We’ve been taught to treat rest like a reward—something we earn once everything is done. The truth is, if we wait until everything is done, we may never give ourselves permission to pause. In this conversation, I’ll share a personal perspective on what it looks like to recognize the quiet warning signs, why proactive rest matters more than reactive recovery, and how small moments of intentional rest can keep you from hitting empty. If you’ve been running on fumes, feeling stretched thin, or telling yourself “just one more thing”… this one’s for you. Rest before you’re ready—so you don’t have to recover when you’re not.

Episode 66: The people who color the light
Yesterday, I found myself sitting in a church, attending a memorial for someone I used to serve with in the fire department. During the service, my eyes kept coming back to a large stained glass window—and somewhere in that quiet moment, a thought took shape. Not all light enters our lives the same way. Some people are like ordinary windows. They let light in, and that matters. But every now and then, you meet someone who is more like stained glass. The same light comes through… but it’s different. It’s colored. It’s warmer, or calmer, or clearer. It shifts your perspective. It changes how you see things. In this episode, I talk about those people—the ones who bring insight, clarity, and a different kind of brightness into our lives. The ones who don’t just show up… they shine through. We’ll take some time to recognize the “stained glass people” we’ve been fortunate enough to encounter, and more importantly, I’ll challenge you to let them know the impact they’ve had on you. Because too often, we wait too long to say what really matters. And finally, we’ll turn the lens inward. Because this isn’t just about finding those people—it’s about becoming one. Who in your life changes the way you see the world? And what kind of light are you letting pass through you? Find them. Thank them. And when you can… be one.

Episode 65: The care you give vs the care you accept.
“We give better advice than we follow.” After getting bit by a dog while helping someone out, I found myself doing what so many of us do—minimizing it, brushing it off, and convincing myself I didn’t need to do anything about it. Until I asked one simple question: What would I tell someone else to do? That question exposed something important—the gap between how we care for others and how we care for ourselves. In this episode, we’re talking about: Why we downplay our own needs How small neglect can turn into bigger problems And how to start treating yourself with the same level of care, urgency, and respect you give to everyone else Because taking care of yourself isn’t selfish… it’s necessary.

Episode 64: The importance of ignoring your responsibilities
The Importance of Ignoring Your Responsibilities This might sound like bad advice… but sometimes the best thing you can do is ignore your responsibilities. In this episode, I share a simple moment from a day spent making maple syrup at my family’s sap house. I was there with my dad and stepdad helping with the work, when my son and I started talking about walking up the mountain to a spot with a beautiful view. I found myself doing the mental math many of us do. How long will it take? What if they need help? Should I just stay here and keep working? But then I realized something important. There were other people there to help, and the syrup was still going to get made. So instead of staying put, my son and I headed up the mountain. The view was beautiful, but honestly, the best part was seeing how excited he was when we reached the top. That walk reminded me of something we all need to hear from time to time: responsibilities matter, but so do the moments that make life meaningful. In this episode, I talk about the importance of balance, why stepping away from the to-do list once in a while is healthy, and how some of life’s best memories come from choosing presence over productivity. Because the work will still get done… but moments like these don’t come around forever.

Episode 63: When things won’t flow - the power of the pertinent pause.
Maple syrup season didn’t start the way we hoped this year. The snow was deep. Equipment broke. The weather refused to cooperate. And for a while, it felt like we might never even get started. Standing in the woods, waiting for the season to begin, I was reminded of something important: not everything in life runs on our schedule. Sometimes we do everything right—prepare, work hard, show up—and things still don’t move when we want them to. The sap doesn’t flow. The plan doesn’t unfold. Progress feels painfully slow. In this episode, I share a story from the farm and the lesson it reminded me of: the power of a pertinent pause. We’ll talk about patience, perspective, and how to keep moving forward when life seems stuck. Because sometimes the sweetest outcomes come from the seasons that test our patience the most. If you’re feeling frustrated, delayed, or like things just aren’t happening fast enough, this episode is for you. Just because the sap isn’t flowing yet… doesn’t mean the tree is empty, and neither are you.

Episode 62: Find your blue sky
It was 14 degrees. Cold enough to make most people stay inside. But the sun was shining, the sky was a deep, brilliant blue, and the snow was sparkling like it had something to say. And standing there in that cold air, I realized something important: We all have something that grounds us. We all have something that helps us breathe a little deeper. Think a little clearer. Feel a little steadier. In this episode, we explore how to identify your “blue sky moment” — that place, practice, or pause that recalibrates you before the day tries to pull you in every direction. Because if you don’t intentionally ground yourself, the world will happily ground you in stress, urgency, and noise. We’ll talk about: Why grounding matters more than you think How it helps prevent burnout before it starts Practical questions to help you discover what steadies you And how five intentional minutes can change the trajectory of your entire day This isn’t about escaping your responsibilities. It’s about strengthening yourself inside them. You don’t need a new life. You need a rhythm that reminds you who you are inside the life you already have. Step outside. Even if it’s 14 degrees. Especially if it’s 14 degrees. Let’s find your blue sky.

Episode 61: Train like your life depends on it
A friend of mine recently visited a firehouse in New York City and saw a quote on the wall that stopped him in his tracks: “You can never train hard enough for a job that can kill you.” In the fire service, that statement is undeniable. Training isn’t optional — it’s survival. You don’t rise to the occasion. You fall to your level of preparation. But the more I thought about it, the more I realized… that quote doesn’t just belong in a firehouse. We only get one life. There are no practice rounds. No do-overs. No resets. In this episode, we talk about: Why preparation is an act of respect — not fear How undertraining in life shows up as burnout, regret, and missed potential What “training” actually looks like in everyday life And how to live with urgency without living with anxiety. Whether you’re building a career, raising a family, rebuilding after burnout, or simply trying to become stronger than you were yesterday — this episode is your reminder: If the stakes are high, your preparation should be too. Train like it matters. Because it does.

Episode 60: The art of letting go - Practical tools to help lighten to load
Some of us have been carrying things for so long that we don’t even realize how heavy they’ve become. Old expectations. Outdated identities. Resentments we justified. Roles we thought we’d play forever. In this episode, we explore what it really means to let go — and why holding on to what no longer serves you quietly drains your energy, your clarity, and your quality of life. Sometimes the weight we’re feeling isn’t from what we’re facing today… it’s from what we’re still dragging from yesterday. We’ll talk about why we cling to things long after their season has ended, the hidden cost of emotional overload, and practical strategies you can use to release what you no longer need to carry. Because letting go isn’t about quitting or giving up — it’s about creating space. Space for growth. Space for peace. Space for who you’re becoming. You don’t have to haul every chapter of your life into the next one. If you’ve been feeling heavy, tired, or stuck — this conversation is for you. It might be time to set something down.

Episode 59 - Sayings that shaped you.
Some of the most important lessons in our lives weren’t taught in long conversations, they were handed to us in short, familiar sayings. In this episode, Sayings That Shaped You, I reflect on a phrase my dad said to my brother and me anytime we headed out into the world: “Tell ’em where you come from, show ’em what you’re made of.” At the time, it felt simple. Over the years, it revealed itself as a blueprint for identity, integrity, and character. We explore what it really means to tell people where you come from—not just the town or state, but the experiences, family, struggles, and foundations that shaped you. And we dig into the idea of showing what you’re made of through action: resilience, work ethic, and doing the right thing simply because it’s right. This episode is an invitation to reflect on the sayings you grew up hearing, the lessons hidden inside them, and how they may still be guiding your choices today—whether you realize it or not. Sometimes the words that shaped us most were spoken casually… but lived intentionally.

Episode 58: How to find joy in every day - The joy of a non-linear life.
We’re often taught—directly or indirectly—that life is supposed to move in a straight line. You’re born, you grow up, you get a job, you hit the milestones, and everything just… progresses. But real life doesn’t work that way. In this episode, I talk about why life is not linear—and why that’s actually good news. I reflect on a question I was asked recently: “How are you always so happy?” The honest answer is: I’m not. But I’ve learned how to find joy, even when life feels messy, uncertain, or heavy. We’ll explore the ups and downs that make up a full human life—the seasons of growth and struggle, beginnings and endings, promotions and pivots, relationships that form and relationships that fade. When we stop expecting life to follow a straight path and instead embrace its rhythm, we open ourselves up to deeper perspective, resilience, and everyday joy. This episode is an invitation to release the pressure of “having it all figured out,” and to find meaning and hope right where you are—whether things feel great right now, or not so great at all. Life isn’t linear. And once you accept that, you might just start to see how beautiful it really is.

Episode 57: What the brand won't tell you - understanding what's beneath the surface.
What can a giant car emblem teach us about the way we live, think, and connect? During a simple walk at work, I noticed something that stuck with me: the badges on modern vehicles are bigger than ever—bold, shiny, and impossible to miss. That small observation led to a much bigger question about our culture and ourselves. In this episode, we explore how society has shifted toward valuing labels, brands, and surface-level impressions over depth, understanding, and substance. From the way we choose what we buy, to how we judge ideas, relationships, and even people, we often stop at what’s most visible instead of taking the time to look underneath. This isn’t an argument against branding or modern life. It’s an invitation to slow down, dig deeper, and reconsider where we place our attention, energy, and trust. Because when things get hard, it’s not the emblem that matters—it’s what’s under the hood. If you’ve ever felt disconnected, rushed to judgment, or caught chasing the next “shiny thing,” this conversation is for you.

Episode 56: The episode that almost wasn't. (You don't want to miss this one!)
What happens when you have a plan… and the day has other ideas? On a snowy day filled with good intentions, I kept saying, “I’m going to record my podcast now,” only to be called away—again and again—to help someone else. Fire calls. People stuck in the snow. A quick trip to help my dad after he locked his keys in his truck. By the end of the day, the plan hadn’t happened—but something else had. In this episode, we talk about the best-laid plans, why they don’t always come to fruition, and how that doesn’t automatically mean the day was wasted or the effort was lost. Sometimes, life reroutes us not to derail us, but to place us exactly where we’re needed. This is a reflection on flexibility, service, and learning to measure a “good day” by more than what gets checked off a to-do list. If you’ve ever felt frustrated when your plans fall apart—or quietly proud of how you showed up anyway—this episode is for you.

Episode 55: You can't prepare before you're there.
We spend so much of our lives trying to prepare — for hard conversations, big moments, loss, love, fear, and change. We read, we listen, we rehearse, and we tell ourselves that if we just know enough, we’ll be ready. But some things in life can’t be prepared for until you’re actually in them. In this episode, I talk about the difference between hearing someone else’s story and living your own. Why no amount of advice, training, or observation can fully prepare us for emotionally heavy moments — or for the beautiful, exhilarating ones either. Whether it’s grief, fear, uncertainty, or falling deeply in love, these experiences don’t land in our minds alone — they move through our whole bodies. I also explore the reality of the unknown. We don’t walk through life blindly, but we rarely have a full map. Often, the path only reveals itself once we start walking it. If you’ve ever felt unprepared, overwhelmed, or unsure — this episode is a reminder that you’re not behind, broken, or failing. You’re human. And sometimes, the only way forward is to take the next step and let the path meet you there.

Episode 54: Driving through the drift - what to do when you can’t see the road ahead
Sometimes life feels like driving through a snow drift. When we can still see the edges of the road, we move forward with confidence. But when everything is covered — when the path ahead disappears and the unknown takes over — fear has a way of tightening its grip. In this episode, Todd reflects on how uncertainty in life mirrors those white-knuckle moments behind the wheel in winter. The anxiety doesn’t come from danger itself, but from not knowing what’s under the snow. Through thoughtful analogy and grounded perspective, this episode explores how we can keep moving forward even when clarity is limited, traction feels uncertain, and the future looks blurred. You don’t need to see the whole road. You just need enough visibility for the next few feet. If you’re navigating a season of uncertainty, transition, or quiet fear, this episode is a reminder that the road is still there — even when you can’t see it yet.

Episode 53: Living beyond the speed of hesitation
Some of the biggest detours in life don’t come from failure — they come from waiting. Waiting for others to care. Waiting for others to decide. Waiting for others to move first. But someone else’s hesitation doesn’t get to steer your life. In this episode, I talk about why other people’s apathy, indecision, or lack of ambition shouldn’t cause you to pause on the things that matter to you — and why doing the work anyway is often what separates intention from impact. You don’t need permission to pursue what’s important. You need consistency, conviction, and the courage to keep going — even when it feels lonely. 🎙️ Listen in if you’ve been holding back, slowing down, or questioning your momentum lately. Episode 52: What 52 weeks can teach you.
This episode marks one full year of weekly podcasting—52 episodes, released every single week. When this podcast began, there was no master plan and no guarantee anyone would listen. There was just a decision to start, and a commitment to keep showing up. One episode at a time. In this reflective episode, I talk about the power of consistency, the quiet impact of small, repeatable steps, and what happens when you choose progress over perfection. I share a few meaningful moments and lessons from past episodes, along with what this past year has taught me about momentum, self-trust, and staying the course when results aren’t immediate. This conversation isn’t about celebrating a milestone as much as it’s about honoring the process—because most meaningful change doesn’t happen all at once. It happens slowly, steadily, and often unnoticed, until one day you look back and realize how far you’ve come. If you’ve ever felt stuck, burnt out, or unsure where to begin, this episode is a reminder that you don’t need a massive leap. You just need a first step—and the courage to take the next one after that.

Episode 51: The very versatile brick - Building things with what you already have
Have you ever noticed how a single brick can be used in so many different ways—flat in a wall, turned on its narrow edge to frame a window, or cut to create a perfect fit? It’s one simple building block, yet it becomes an entire structure when arranged with purpose. In this episode, Todd shares how a small detail on a brick building unlocked a bigger reflection on human potential. Just like that brick, each of us carries skills and strengths that can be used in more than one way. With a little creativity, effort, and courage, you can take what you already have and build something remarkable. Todd explores how versatility shows up in everyday life, why reinvention isn’t always necessary, and how shifting the orientation of your strengths—rather than replacing them—can help you grow, succeed, and create something meaningful. You’ll walk away with a simple reflection exercise and a renewed confidence in your own ability to build the “structures” that matter most: your goals, your relationships, your mindset, and your future. If you’ve ever wondered whether you’re equipped for the next step in your journey, this episode is your reminder that you already hold the bricks. Now it’s time to build. Grab your beverage! Episode 50: It's Hardest Before it Happens
In this episode, Todd unpacks one of life’s most familiar patterns: how the moments we fear, anticipate, or overthink often feel far heavier before they arrive. From childhood worries to adult transitions, we’ve all faced situations that seemed impossible from the outside—only to discover, once we stepped into them, that we were far more capable than we imagined. Todd shares personal stories, gentle humor, and honest reflections on why anticipation amplifies anxiety, how our minds try to protect us by preparing for the worst, and why reality is usually kinder than the version we build in our heads. Along the way, he offers simple, steady practices for easing worry and grounding ourselves when the unknown looms large. This episode is an encouraging reminder that you’ve handled hard things before… and you’ll handle the next one too. Sometimes the scariest part is just the waiting. And once it happens? Episode 49: The Birdseed, the Hay, and The Boulder
In this episode, Todd unpacks a simple farm-inspired analogy with a surprisingly powerful message: not all emotional weight is created equal. Some feelings scatter on their own like birdseed. Others take a little effort, like moving a bale of hay. And some—those heavy, life-shaping burdens—sit in our lives like a boulder that won’t budge without real help and intention. Through relatable examples and honest reflection, Todd explores how we can recognize the differences between these emotional loads, respond to each one wisely, and stop carrying what no longer needs to be on our shoulders. If you’ve been feeling weighed down or unsure how to move forward, this episode offers clarity, encouragement, and a framework you can use today to lighten your emotional backpack. Episode 48: I love the way you see the world.
This week’s episode begins with a simple sentence that stopped me in my tracks. A friend recently told me, “I love the way you see the world.” It wasn’t just a compliment — it was an invitation to look more closely at how our perspective shapes our experience. In this episode, we explore the quiet power of noticing the little things: a bird’s nest tucked in the grass, a fallen tree you pass on the way to the mailbox, the scent of leaves underfoot, the golden angle of the sun in the fall. These small moments aren’t insignificant; they’re reminders that beauty is always within reach when we train our eyes — and our minds — to look for it. We’ll talk about how perception can change the feel of a moment, why outside perspective can sometimes be the nudge we need, and how choosing to see the world through a gentler, more curious lens can shift everything from our stress level to our sense of gratitude. If you’re ready to slow down, tune in, and see your surroundings with fresh eyes, this episode will give you practical tools and a few memorable phrases to carry with you. After all, the way we look at the world often determines what we discover in it. Grab your beverage! It's time, for Todd Talk!

Episode 47: Curious not Critical: How you can best approach conversations about big ideas and big feelings.
Ever notice how a simple question can sometimes turn into a full-blown argument? One minute someone’s sharing an idea, and the next, they’re shutting down because the conversation shifted from curious to critical. In this episode, Todd dives into why that happens — especially in our closest relationships — and how we can learn to ask questions that invite connection instead of conflict. Through personal stories, relatable examples, and a few hard-earned lessons, Todd explores the fine line between showing genuine interest and sounding dismissive, even when we don’t mean to. You’ll walk away with a few practical ways to keep curiosity at the center of your conversations, especially when emotions are running high or surprises pop up. Because when we learn to be curious, not critical, we open the door to understanding — and that’s where real communication begins. Grab your beverage! It's time, for Todd Talk!

Episode 46: One bolt at a time - how life's problems are best tackled little by little.
When the clutch fan on Todd’s dump truck broke, it left him facing a repair job he’d never done before — tearing down and rebuilding a diesel motor from the inside out. What started as a mechanical problem turned into a powerful life lesson about perseverance, patience, and staying cool under pressure. In this episode, Todd shares how tackling one bolt at a time — literally — became a reminder that big problems in life aren’t solved all at once. They’re solved piece by piece, step by step, with faith that progress adds up. Whether you’re dealing with burnout, uncertainty, or a challenge that just feels too big to take on, this story will remind you: you don’t need to see the whole plan — you just need to start. 🎙️ Listen to learn how staying calm and steady under pressure can help you rebuild what’s broken — both in your work and in your life. Episode 45: Love the Action
Love isn’t just something we say — it’s something we do. In this episode of Todd Talk, we dive deep into what it really means to treat love as a verb. It’s the quiet moments — making someone coffee just the way they like it, noticing when their favorite sweatshirt has worn thin, or showing up when life gets messy — that reveal the truth about love in action. Todd explores how love shows up not only in our relationships with others, but in how we treat ourselves. Through everyday examples and heartfelt reflection, this episode is a reminder that the most powerful expressions of love are often the smallest ones — the ones we repeat, consistently, with intention. Episode 44: The Clarity of The Fall
This week, Todd reflects on a simple autumn morning that turned into a powerful life lesson. Standing in his front yard, he realized that as the leaves fall away, the view becomes clearer — a reminder that letting go isn’t loss, it’s revelation. In this heartfelt episode, Todd explores the seasons of our lives: the times we release what no longer serves us, the moments of clarity that follow, and the beauty of new growth that always returns. Through thoughtful storytelling and grounded wisdom, he reminds us that change is not something to fear — it’s the natural rhythm of becoming. You’ll hear about: 🍂 The peace that comes from letting go. 🌅 Why clarity often follows release. 🌱 How new growth sometimes limits our view — and why that’s still a good thing. Episode 43: Many ways to make 100 - how to focus on your journey and take pride in your progress.
There’s more than one way to make 100. You can do fifty plus fifty, seventy plus thirty, or even twenty fives all the way up. The total is the same — but the math looks different. In this episode, we'll explore how that simple truth applies to life, goals, and personal growth. Your path doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s, and your progress doesn’t have to follow a straight line. Whether you move in small steps or giant leaps, what matters is that you keep adding to your total. Episode 42: Help doesn't always mean hero
Sometimes, helping others feels like the right thing — and most of the time, it is. But there’s a fine line between helping someone and holding them back. When we step in too often, we may accidentally create a cycle of dependency, resentment, or even entitlement. Real help doesn’t mean doing everything for someone else — it means empowering them to stand on their own. In this episode, we’ll talk about how to recognize when your support is turning into enabling, why boundaries are an act of kindness, and how to shift from “rescuer” to “refuser of unhealthy patterns.” Because sometimes, the best way to help… is to stop doing the heavy lifting for everyone else. Episode 41: There is no "I" in Blame
When something goes wrong, it’s tempting to point the finger—at yourself or at someone else. But blame is rarely that simple. In this episode, I talk about why blame is almost never one-sided, how carrying all of it can create self-doubt, and what to do when it feels like it’s all your fault. Whether it’s in a friendship, relationship, or at work, learning to step back, see the bigger picture, and share responsibility can transform how you move forward. Grab your coffee! Episode 40: Don't forget the choices - The ones you have and the ones you make
When life doesn’t go the way you planned, it’s easy to get stuck in frustration or panic. But here’s the truth: you always have choices. In this episode, I share a personal story from the farm where things went wrong—and how remembering my choices helped me move forward instead of staying stuck. We’ll talk about why setbacks make us forget we even have options, how to shift back into decision-making mode, and why even small choices can change the direction of your day—or your life. This episode is a reminder that you’re never powerless. Grab your coffee! This, is Todd Talk. And when you grab your coffee, don’t forget the choices. 😉

Episode 39: Pursue What Moves You - The literal and figurative moves
What does it mean to pursue what moves you? In this episode, I explore the power of pursuit—both figuratively and literally. Pursuing what moves you can mean chasing after the passions, callings, and meaningful work that fill your life with purpose. It can also mean physically moving—whether it’s changing careers, shifting environments, or taking bold steps into new chapters. Join me as I unpack how both kinds of pursuit work hand-in-hand, why they matter, and how you can start embracing them in your own life. This is a reminder that the things that move you are worth chasing—because they lead you closer to growth, fulfillment, and the life you want to live. Grab your coffee! It's time, for Todd Talk!

Episode 38: The How and Why of Happy
Someone recently asked me why and how I was so happy—and that question sparked today’s episode. Happiness isn’t about ignoring the hard stuff in life, and it doesn’t mean every day is perfect. But I believe happiness is possible when we shift our mindset, practice gratitude, and choose to focus on the right things. In this episode, I talk about the power of finding just one thing to look forward to each day, why gratitude changes the way we see the world, and how showing kindness can be the best response to negativity. I’ll share a few of my own stories and give you simple, practical ways to bring more joy into your daily life. Grab your coffee, it’s time, for Todd Talk!

Episode 37: AI Versus Authenticity
In a world where AI videos can look so real, it’s hard to tell what’s fake. So how do we stay grounded in what’s true? In today’s episode, I'll share a conversation I recently had with my kids about the challenge of spotting what’s genuine in a noisy, digital world—and how it turned into a bigger lesson on authenticity. When life is full of distractions, comparisons, and “fake noise,” the best thing we can do is focus on what matters most: showing up as our true selves. I'll unpack why being authentic matters—not just for influencers or leaders, but for every one of us—and how staying genuine is the antidote to a world full of imitation. Episode 36 Sapling-sized habits
Sometimes the hardest problems we face don’t start big — they start small. A tiny habit, a small compromise, or something we decide to ignore “just this once.” Over time, it takes root. The longer we let it grow, the deeper it goes, and the harder it becomes to pull out without leaving a hole behind. In this episode, I share the story of a hayfield that was left unattended, how a single sapling became a tree, and what that can teach us about our own habits. Whether it’s procrastination, unhealthy routines, or unresolved issues, we’ll talk about how to recognize the little things before they become big things — and how to replace them with habits that truly help us grow. Episode 35: Reflective Glances
Have you ever stepped away from something, only to realize later how much you truly loved it—or how much you’ve outgrown it? In this episode, I explore the surprising truth that sometimes the way forward is found by looking back. Progress and growth are essential, but stepping away from a job, a passion, or even a community can give us the clarity we need. When we return, we often return differently—sometimes with a renewed love, other times with the understanding that we’re meant to move on. Join me as I share reflections and stories about rediscovering what matters most, learning from where we’ve been, and finding the beauty in choosing our next steps with intention. Grab your coffee! Episode 34: Don't rush through what you'll miss someday.
"Choose your pace, and your peace." -Me- In this episode, I open up about something I’ve been noticing in my own life: how easy it is to rush through the very moments we’ll someday wish we could go back to. Between family, work, and the endless list of responsibilities, I’ve caught myself hurrying through the things that matter most. I share a few personal stories that reminded me to slow down, be present, and recognize the ordinary moments that are really extraordinary. From quiet farm chores to the chaos of family life, these are the memories that will mean everything one day. If you’ve been feeling stretched thin or like life is passing by too fast, this episode is for you. My hope is that it helps you pause, breathe, and remember that today is worth noticing—because someday, you’ll miss the moments you’re living right now. Grab your beverage! This, is Todd Talk.

Episode 33: When you don't know what's next.
In this episode, I’m talking about a season that many of us face—but few of us feel comfortable in: the in-between. It’s that place where you’ve closed one chapter but haven’t quite figured out what the next one looks like. Maybe you’re changing careers, reevaluating your priorities, or simply feeling stuck. Whatever the reason, it can feel unsettling when you don’t know what’s next. I’ll share some thoughts and stories on what it means to live in the “unknown” without rushing through it. Because sometimes, clarity doesn’t come from forcing the next step—it comes from learning how to sit with the questions, listen closely, and trust that something is unfolding even when we can’t see it yet. If you’re in a season of uncertainty, this conversation is for you. You don’t have to have it all figured out—you just have to stay present, stay honest, and keep showing up. Get your drink of choice and lets dive it! This, is Todd Talk!

Episode 32: Embracing the Seasons of Life
In this episode, I’m reflecting on the natural rhythm of life—how each of us moves through different seasons: spring, summer, fall, and winter, and how those seasons aren't JUST about the weather. Each one brings its own challenges, growth, rest, and renewal. I believe that when we start to recognize and honor the season we’re in, we can find more peace, purpose, and clarity. I’ll share some personal stories and insights that have helped me stop resisting change and start leaning into it. If you’ve ever felt stuck, impatient, or unsure about what’s next, I hope this conversation reminds you that you’re not alone—and that every season has something to teach us. So, grab a cup of coffee, take a deep breath, and join me as we talk about what it means to fully embrace the season you’re in…and prepare for the one that’s coming. It's time, for Todd Talk!

Episode 31: Cut your toenails before they hurt - This is not ACTUALLY about toenails.
What do overgrown toenails have to do with burnout, emotional health, and personal growth? A lot more than you think. In this episode, I'll share a funny and oddly profound lesson from my childhood — how a little bit of procrastination (and a pair of tight shoes) led to unnecessary pain… and how that same principle shows up in our adult lives. From putting off hard conversations to skipping rest when we need it most, we'll explore the small, preventable discomforts that pile up when we ignore our needs. Hit play to hear: Why ignoring small problems can lead to big pain How to recognize your own "toenail moments" The power of proactive care in your mental, emotional, and physical life A reminder that you're allowed to live a life that doesn't hurt Grab your drink of choice! Episode 30: Decisions versus mistakes - how to forgive yourself for the things that didn't go perfectly right.
Ever made a decision that didn’t go the way you planned—and then beat yourself up for it? What if your “mistake” wasn’t a mistake at all—just part of the process? In this episode, we’re untangling the messy space between decisions and mistakes. Because too many of us carry guilt for things that didn’t work out, when really—we just made a call, and life happened. You’ll learn how to fail forward, how to stop internalizing every outcome, and why most missteps aren’t failures—they’re feedback. Grab your drink of choice. It's time, for Todd Talk!
