Topical or Slopical?
by Rocky Mulberry
Do you ever find yourself shouting at the TV newsreader, guffawing at a radio host’s commentary, or slapping down the morning paper in disbelief? Or maybe it’s the fellow audience whose takes on daily events make you want to scream into the void. Well, now you have a new avenue to blow off steam. This is the news from the street — raw, real, and possibly ridiculous.Topical Or Slopical is a punchy, provocative chatshow that thrives on opinion. Each week, we take one major headline – fresh from the spin cycle – and bring in everyday voices to ask: what do we really believe on the street? Cutting through the noise of mainstream media, we stir up spirited debate, challenge the official narrative, and forge our own spin on the stories they claim truly matter.Hosted by Rocky Mulberry, a veteran journalist and media graduate from the class of 1991, the show brings decades of storytelling grit, a nose for spin, and a love of no-holds-barred conversation straight to your ears.

📡 “BBC Blackout?” – Broadcast to Broadband: Who Gets Left Behind? Debate the future of public service broadcasting in a digital-only world.BBC Boss Tim Davie outlined last week hos plan to switch off traditional broadcast transmissions in the 2030s, thereby he argues to ensure a 'smooth' transition to internet-only delivery of programmes. He had to read notes for making the announcement rather than do it from his head, was this really professional when he would not allow his newsreaders the same luxury? He says nobody in the traditional BBC audience will be left behind. We ask our listeners what about vulnerable groups who have no reliable internet access and may rely on traditional broadcasting? Such groups can include the elderly, or many of the world's poorest populations - for example people in shanty towns in the developing world). We discuss briefly these concerns sharing quotes direct via social media comments to our page, whilst also giving a call to action for people to come and join this and any future debates on the Topical Or Slopical podcast.
