Tough Pills

Who is responsible for healing our trauma? What is the cure for addiction? Why is there a curse for knowledge? Let’s talk about it. Welcome to the Tough Pills Podcast, where we welcome hot takes, challenge traditional wisdom, and share business owning strategies. I'm your host Ezekiel, and I have the same qualifications that you do to talk about these things.

A Reason For Being (Ikigai Pt. 3)

In this episode, we dive deep into this one diagram I found on google images. It's not just proof that I can keep myself entertained with any sort of mental round of golf, it's a full understanding of every combination of 4 different reasons to participating in an activity that--You loveYou are good atYou can get paid forWhat the world needsAny combination of these results in a different category of drive--and only if you can combine all 4 do you achieve Ikigai. I guess I kinda summed up the whole episode so you don't really need to listen to it anymore. But, there is a really good chunk of introspection that I hope you like toward the end, fit to send me off to a little break. For the visually curious: https://stevelegler.com/2019/02/16/ikigai-a-four-circle-model-of-human-capital/

What is your Idol? (Ikigai Pt. 2)

Money, Power, Pleasure, Fame. All of us can narrow our subconscious desires into wanting one of these deep down. It's okay to know this about ourselves. I'd rather us accept our desires than pretend they aren't there. When chasing what it is we want, be conscious about where we're headed if we're not careful. Let's be honest about things today.

  3. 13

What is your Agenda? (Ikigai Pt. 1)

Everyone has an agenda. I go over in this episode the 3 different groups of acknowledgment of that agenda, and how you might change which one you're in. This is the first of a three part season 1 finale, before I take a little break.

  4. 12

    Victim Mentality

In this episode I talk about some darker feelings, but I would rather you not feel alone than pretend that I've never hit that rock bottom before. I also go into a somewhat shoddy explanation of how to overcome test anxiety that I will explore again at a later date, maybe when I feel better equipped to talk about how anxiety has affected me as a whole. We're getting into the meat of things now. Also, still no video uploading. Maybe soon. But I did learn how to put my own chapters in, so the auto generated bullshit chapters can stop making me look like a total kiss ass

  5. 11

    100 Days Sober

It's time to talk about alcohol.

  6. 10

    Second Reflection Day

Episodes 4 - 8 reviewed, podcast updates, a little bit of life here and there. Review your work and make things better

  7. 9

    New Years Resolutions

The perfect time to completely reinvent ourselves overnight is almost here. But all jokes aside, what's the right way to make resolutions effective? And why are you waiting to get started? Instead of going into the enabling of vices, I hope this is a little bit of a pep talk into why to start now, and how to keep going.

  8. 8

    Opportunity

What is an opportunity and when do you need to embrace it? How do you decipher opportunity from manipulation? When given a gift, how do you capitalize on it? This is a continuation of last week's practicality exercise, where we dive deeper into Top-Down Practicality and see what it has to offer.

  9. 7

    Practicality

Live practically. But even more specifically, there are two different types of practicality: Bottom-Up practicality, and Top-down practicality. Lets talk about it

    Overcoming Procrastination -- Zane Kadir

Zane Kadir is a local business magnet--an entrepreneur, opportunist, and an explorer of the world. Today we talked about a bit of his recent ventures and how to stay driven day after day.Follow him here:Personal Instagram: @zane_kadirBusiness: @pristinejets

    The Blue Dot Effect

In this episode we discuss a study done by Brown assistant professor Daniel Levari and Harvard's David Gilbert, showcasing our innate desire to seek problems. I find it stunning just how often I've come across my desire to deal with an external problem rather than make progress in my life, and how I often invent threats to handle instead of seeking inner peace. 12. 4

    First Reflection Day

This is probably not the best episode to start on, but live your life I guess. In this minisode I reflect on the first 3 episodes and what I think I could have done better on each one, as well as some things that I liked. Also It's the first one in the library studio!

  13. 3

    Perseverance

In this episode, we talk about the importance of persevering through daily frustration, and touch on when it's time to pivot. We do a bit of a vulnerable deep dive on all the ways I've managed to give up way too early. Also, I referenced a Modern Wisdom clip at the beginning, here's the link at the timestamp: https://youtu.be/ewMJdf32zWA?t=375

  14. 2

    MAD Goals

In this episode, we established some goals for the pod, as well as talked about what makes a good goal. And yes, if you're reading this, I spent a good amount of time talking about SMART goals, and why I think MAD goals are better and more approachable. Soon I'll be able to not do this in my bedroom and I can YELL about it. Maybe I can make a goal about an average decible reading somehow. Until then, this is how I'm showing up.

  15. 1

    Just Be Yourself

Hi I do not know what I am doing yet, so please just bear with me for a couple of months. I just want to talk about some things I think we could do a bit better. And after listening back, I'm beginning to believe in myself more and more. So maybe this is a good beginning, and we can see where it goes.
