Two Friends and a Final Four

We appreciate everyone's patience! It's been a while since we returned from the Women's Final Four in Tampa, but we recorded this shortly after our return while the memories were fresh in our minds and the 2025 WNBA draft picks were making news. In this episode, we share some of our reactions to the WNBA draft and then some stories and reflections on our time together in Tampa and what it all means as we wrap up our journey. Clearly we've come full circle, fully completely but we had too much fun to definitively say "this is it". We are revved up about this episode. Keeping with the march madness theme, we decided to record this episode while watching the Women’s Selection Show Special on ESPN/TSN last night. In this episode we catch up on some women's basketball from February, discuss a little bit of the history of the sport and share what we learned from a couple of women, Jan Dwinnells of Weare, NH and Chris Critelli of St. Catharines, Ontario, who have similar stories but are pioneers in their own way. We realize we've had this lived experience but there is a whole cohort of people that are watching and tuning in to women's college basketball and professional women's sports in general. In this episode, we reflect a bit on 2024 and discuss what we're excited about in 2025. This time we also invited a guest to join us, Caroline Hummell, a former player, current coach and scholar, to gain additional insight and perspective on our fandom!

For our day jobs, we are professors, studying and teaching the business of sport. But that’s not what this podcast is about. This is about the emotions, joy, energy and livelihood that women’s basketball fandom has opened up for us as two long-time friends.

In this episode, we will share the story behind the idea for this podcast, highlighting the story of our friendship, our personal basketball stories, and how all of this has led to our upcoming journey to the NCAA Women's Final Four Basketball Championship.
