Life is short - Enjoy it!

The lessons that I had to repeat over and over again throughout the last 80+ episodes is "Enjoy life" or its favourite cousin "Life is short". This episode gives you a short reminder why this is important - and not self-indulgent.

  2. 40

    Health

Barbara La Marr, Errol Flynn and John Barrymore are just three examples from the myriads of Old Hollywood stars that tried to cheat nature and abused both alcohol and their bodies. Others like Gloria Swanson and Greta Garbo put an emphasis on their health early on. The outcome? Predictable.

  3. 39

    Change is good

Old Hollywood is a stellar example of an ever changing environment. From theatre to silent movies to sound movies, to radio, to TV - the actors and actresses that made Old Hollywood great were multi-interested and diversified their incomes and talents. Embracing changes and diving fully in is definitely part of the success formula. Listen in to find out what you can learn from them.

  4. 38

    Hard Work

Researching Old Hollywood, I found there was one prevalent topic almost always at play – and that was hard work. I guess, in a way, back then in the early 20th century, this was just what was expected from people.

  5. 37

Do you need a new name?

Your name is your image. It will influence how others see you and how you see yourself. Old Hollywood actors and actresses often changed their name to a more appealing sounding stage name - and rightly so. Names do possess power. How can you use this for the creation of your extraordinary life?

  6. 36

A Personal Brand requires (a lot of) work

If there is anything that I would immediately sign off as being true is that Old Hollywood was full of personal brands. Personal brands nowadays are rare – even though the topic is hotter now than ever. If you look at the models and photospreads, they all look alike. The beauty standards have pretty much narrowed and authenticity and personality have become harder to find in a way.

  7. 35

    You need a vision!

What does it need to make decisions, to tap into your intuition and to create your live deliberately. So, what you need to make decisions and achieve success is a vision, a destination of what you want to create. And of course, Old Hollywood is full of people that had a vision. Something that propelled them forwards, sustained them through long periods of time and helped them create the life they always wanted. In essence this is what created Hollywood.

  8. 34

    Determination and Denial

When I was researching the actress Tallulah Bankhead, I read a book on her and other showgirls and flappers of that time and one passage of the book was: “(But) Tallulah possessed wonderful powers of determination and denial.“ I immediately LOVED this quote. There is so much wisdom in it and since then this has become my favorite motto. Because these are two very important ingredients as to what it takes to create a life that you actually want and love.

  9. 33

The Most Important Thing in Your Life

Whatever you want out of your life - there is one sure way to achieve it with pleasure and happiness. You need to get to know yourself. Once you actually know who you are, it will be such much easier to reach those goals. So, listen and dig in!

  10. 32

    Types of Toxic People

What is the difference between toxic people, narcissists, psychopaths and sociopaths? Listen to the episode to find out!

  11. 31

How to create a successful life: structure and flexibility

How can you make your life as easy as possible with spontaneity and fun - but without losing sight of your goals? This episode might be the magic potion that you have waited for.

  12. 30

    What zombie chess taught me

Don't we always think our reality is the one and only? News flash: You can always change your perspective and therefore change your view on the world and how you act in it. It is jawdroppingly simple. But it ain't easy!

  13. 29

    The Magic of Reframing

We all have grown accustomed to lamenting and moaning about our lack of time, the amount of stress we have or the little sleep we get. But does this help? Maybe there is a better way to talk about our (bad) states.

  14. 28

Woo-woo and the Laws of the Universe

Left without any idea about how to see the world and how to make sense of it all? Maybe this episode gives you a nudge in the right direction.

  15. 27

The incredible powers of determination and denial

How a tiny sentence during my research just condensed what building an incredible life is.

  16. 26

    Superwoman Syndrome

Are you also trying to be it all, have it all, do it all? Are you on the way to a breakdown or burnout? Listen to this episode to make sure you won't crash and burn, but thrive an succeed onto your own terms.

  17. 25

    Are you lucky?

In this episode I dissect the definition of luck and what you can do to be lucky. Be warned: I also share my funky view on the world which might not be everybody's cup of tea.

  18. 24

    Spirituality

The way in which we are presented with faith and spirituality in our childhood has a forming effect on how we approach this topic in our adult lives. And it might be why we are having a crisis of faith in our teenage years and beyond. This episode is based on my most recent conversations with my kids and has brought up some thoughts on the topic. It might be a bit lengthy and reaching way back - but to me this is the best way to describe my own loss of faith and spirituality.

  19. 23

    Carpe Diem

We are all going to die - sooner or later. To some this might seem a bit depressing, but it does not have to be like this. You can use this universal truth and unlock the potential for your best life.

  22. 20

    We are multidimensional

We are all so used to niche down and become experts in just one field. Maybe it is even better to show your expertise in multiple subjects?

  23. 19

    Can you save the world?

We need systems and structures, we need gender equality and equailty of living - but we also need purposeful lives, meaning in our work and a strong community contributing to the greater good.

    Screw good enough

We talk about not being good enough or being good enough. About a job, a flat or a relationship being good enough. And many social media channels try to convince us that we actually are good enough. Listen to this episode why this wording is so detrimental to your self-image and your life.

  33. 9

  34. 8

    Cycle-Synching

What we learn in school about hormones, the teen years and what our hormones actually do to a woman's body is just about nothing. I find this is the most fundamental knowledge each and every girl needs to have to be in tune with her body.

  35. 7

    Beauty Marks

In social media we are bombarded with examples of purpose equals money. Which is not true at all. Your true calling definitely can pave the way to lifelong happiness and success, but it does not necessarily do so. And it does not need to. Listen to this episode and find out what pearls of wisdom I derived from my daughter's favourite series "My Little Pony".

  37. 5

    Take up more space!

We as women are taught to be silent, to endure, to be pretty and to comply. Has that gotten us anywhere ever? Big fat no. Start being loud, outrageous and confident. Dress unconventionally and voice your opinion. Because it matters!

  38. 4

What a Hollywood icon can teach us

The media's favourite bad girl of the 1930s, the second highest paid person in the US right after publishing mogul William Randolph Hearst, actress, playwright, PR maven, investor, feminist and a sex symbol. Mae West did it all and was it all.

  39. 3

    What is unapologetically extraordinary?

Aren't we all brainwashed into thinking that we have to fit into a size 0 like a random model on a Vogue cover? That we need to have a certain look, job, flat or life to be accepted - to be enough? No more! It is time for us to reign in the craziness that we have succumbed to and create a life unique to us and to be our own best advocate. Let this be the start of something great!
