Restoration of the Old Baptist Cemetery in Macedon, NY
The Old Baptist Baptist Cemetery in Macedon, NY had fallen and missing headstones. Burials date between 1806 and 1867. Erika Newcombe, with help from her family, has taken up the mantel to continue a clean up effort. She and mother Deanne, have been locating and repairing headstones, researching the lives of the families and persons who are buried here, as well as recording the burials on Findagrave.com. Before Wayne County or the town of Macedon were created in 1823, a group of settlers formed a church community at the corner of Walworth Rd. and Quaker Rd. and as custom for the day, a cemetery plot was established nearby. The church was started in 1800 but the congregation divided several times and later the building was physically moved to it's current location on Main St. Macedon around 1835. Learn more about who is buried here and what Erika is doing to preserve their stories.Old Baptist Cemetery https://oldbaptistcemeterymacedonny.macedonhistoricalsociety.org/First Baptist Church of Macedon 225 year anniversary. https://fbcmacedon.org/Macedon Historical Society - https://www.macedonhistoricalsociety.org/News Coverage: https://13wham.com/news/local/macedon-church-celebrates-225-years-with-burial-dedication-event-first-baptist-church-macedon-revolutionary-war-gravestones-former-church-cemetery-wayne-county
