Episode 5: Children Gone Wild: ADHD Edition

Please show this podcast some love and rate us ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ on Spotify, Google, Castbox & Apple if you LOVE the podcast and leave a review!! What is ADHD? ADHD or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, is a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by persistent patterns of inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity that can interfere with daily functioning or development. It often begins in childhood and can continue into adulthood. Individuals with ADHD may struggle with maintaining focus, organizing tasks, and controlling impulsive behaviors. There are three main subtypes of ADHD; predominantly inattentive, predominantly hyperactive- impulsive, and combined presentation. Diagnosis and management often involve a comprehensive approach, including behavioral therapy, education, and in some cases, medication There are three subtypes of ADHD: Predominantly inattentive. The majority of symptoms fall under inattention. Predominantly hyperactive/impulsive. The majority of symptoms are hyperactive and impulsive. Combined. This is a mix of inattentive symptoms and hyperactive/impulsive symptoms. Symptoms of ADHD in Children? Trouble focusing on activities and becoming easily distracted Low attention span while playing or doing schoolwork Fidgeting, squirming, or otherwise having trouble sitting still Constantly needing movement or frequently running around Engaging in activities loudly or disruptively Excess talking and interrupting other people Short attention span for age (difficulty sustaining attention) Difficulty listening to others Typical developmental behavior vs. ADHD Most healthy children are inattentive, hyperactive or impulsive at one time or another. It's typical for preschoolers to have short attention spans and be unable to stick with one activity for long. Even in older children and teenagers, attention span often depends on the level of interest. The same is true of hyperactivity. Young children are naturally energetic — they often are still full of energy long after they've worn their parents out. In addition, some children just naturally have a higher activity level than others do. Children should never be classified as having ADHD just because they're different from their friends or siblings. Children who have problems in school but get along well at home or with friends are likely struggling with something other than ADHD. The same is true of children who are hyperactive or inattentive at home, but whose schoolwork and friendships remain unaffected. **Remember every child's Journey is different and there is not one size fits all for there struggles. There is no rule book or handbook to parenting and you have to do what works best for your child and your family. Thanks So much for listening and tuning in! These relationships can leave us feeling drained, undervalued, and uncertain about our self-worth. However, it is important to remember that we are deserving of love, respect, and happiness. We will explore strategies for dealing with difficult relationships and finding your worth, even in the midst of toxicity. Steps to dealing with a toxic and difficult relationship: 1. Recognize the Signs: The first step in dealing with difficult relationships is to recognize the signs of toxicity. This may include constant criticism, manipulation, emotional or physical abuse, or a lack of respect for boundaries. Acknowledging these signs is crucial in understanding that the problem lies with the other person, not with your worth as an individual. 2. Set Boundaries: Establishing clear boundaries is essential when dealing with toxic relationships. Communicate your needs and expectations, and be firm in enforcing them. Remember, your well-being should always take priority over maintaining a toxic relationship. 3. Seek Support: Dealing with difficult relationships can be emotionally draining, and it's important not to face it alone. Reach out to trusted friends, family members, or professional counselors who can provide guidance and support. Surrounding yourself with a strong support system can help you regain perspective and reinforce your self-worth. 4. Practice Self-Care: Taking care of yourself is crucial when dealing with toxic relationships. Engage in activities that bring you joy, practice mindfulness, and prioritize self-care. By focusing on your own well-being, you are reaffirming your worth and reminding yourself that you deserve happiness. 5. Reflect and Learn: Difficult relationships can teach us valuable lessons about ourselves and our boundaries. Take the time to reflect on the patterns and dynamics that led to the toxic relationship. Use this knowledge to grow and make healthier choices in future relationships. I know Dealing with difficult and toxic relationships can be challenging, but it is essential to remember that your worth is not defined by these relationships. By recognizing the signs, setting boundaries, seeking support, practicing self-care, and reflecting on the experience, you can regain your self-worth and move towards healthier relationships. Affirmations for a positive Self Talk: Breaking Barriers and LOVING MYSELF

Please show this podcast some love and rate us ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ on Spotify, Google, Castbox & Apple, if you LOVE the podcast and leave a review!! Self Love. What does Self Love mean to you? There's a lot of talk these days about self-love. It sounds great, but what does it actually mean? How do we love ourselves and why does it matter? Self-love means that you accept yourself fully, treat yourself with kindness and respect, and nurture your growth and wellbeing. Self-love encompasses not only how you treat yourself but also your thoughts and feelings about yourself. So, when you conceptualize self-love, you can try to imagine what you would do for yourself, how you'd talk to yourself, and how you'd feel about yourself that reflects love and concern. When you love yourself, you have an overall positive view of yourself. This doesn't mean you feel positive about yourself all the time. One of the hardest things to do is love and accept yourself. Not just for the person you are today but also for the person you are becoming. Affirmations can help you start the process of loving you. What Does Self Love Look Like? Saying positive things to yourself Forgiving yourself when you mess up Meeting your own needs Being assertive Not letting others take advantage of or abuse you Prioritizing your health and wellbeing Spending time around people who support you and build you up (and avoiding people who dont) Asking for help Letting go of grudges or anger that holds you back Recognizing your strengths Valuing your feelings Making healthy choices most of the time Living in accordance with your values Pursuing your interests and goals Challenging yourself Holding yourself accountable Giving yourself healthy treats Accepting your imperfections Setting realistic expectations Noticing your progress and effort If you'd like to support Unshackled Souls PayPal - https://www.paypal.me/unshackledsouls Venmo - https://www.venmo.com/unshackledsouls

    Abundance Avenue: Positive Money Affirmations

Please show this podcast some love and rate us ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ on Spotify, Google, Castbox & Apple if you LOVE the podcast and leave a review!! What are affirmations? Changing long-held, deeply ingrained beliefs is often a difficult and lengthy process. That’s where money affirmations come in. Money abundance affirmations are simple, positive phrases about yourself that can help set your thoughts toward your financial wellness. You may not believe these statements now, and you may revert to a more familiar mindset. That’s natural. The idea is that in repeating wealth affirmations, you begin to internalize them as truth. What is the Law of Attraction? The Law of Attraction is basically the ability to attract into our lives whatever we focus on. Basically, whatever you focus your energy on will come back to you. If you focus on positivity — and actionable goals — you can find a way to make them happen. Here’s the most important part: Money mantras aren’t just about having more money. This is about changing your mindset to be better equipped to create financial abundance. Developing a healthy relationship with your money may be a lifelong process. But while you continue to affirm your money-positive beliefs, you can use money management tools to take control of your finances and put your money-positive mindset into practice If you'd like to support Unshackled Souls PayPal - https://www.paypal.me/unshackledsouls Venmo - https://www.venmo.com/unshackledsouls

Anxiety Affirmations: Building Strength in the Face of Fear

Please show this podcast some love and rate us ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ on Spotify, Google, Castbox & Apple if you LOVE the podcast and leave a review!! What is Anxiety? Anxiety is an emotion which is characterized by an unpleasant state of inner turmoil and includes feelings of dread over anticipated events. Anxiety is different from fear in that fear is defined as the emotional response to a real threat, whereas anxiety is the anticipation of a future threat. It is often accompanied by nervous behavior such as pacing back and forth, somatic complaints, and rumination. Anxiety is a feeling of uneasiness and worry, usually generalized and unfocused as an overreaction to a situation that is only subjectively seen as menacing. It is often accompanied by muscular tension, restlessness, fatigue, inability to catch one's breath, tightness in the abdominal region, nausea, and problems in concentration. How can Affirmations help with Anxiety? Positive affirmations for anxiety are statements that you say to yourself to counteract negative thoughts and feelings. They can help you to feel calm, positive, and safe. They can also help you relive stress in times of panic or an anxiety attack.
