Unwrapping FOIL

In the last episode, we explored the first era of FOIL's history. In this one, we explore the second. This was our Playful Era, as casts formed tight bonds, graduates came back, and we quite simply had a blast even if everything wasn't going to plan because community wins out over hardship every time. We are pausing FOIL’s story to instead give Legacy the full spotlight. March 2, 2025, was the 20th Anniversary Shindig. For this episode we interviewed Audra and Brandon May, Amanda Carrico, Debbie Pirkle, Jaime Hulbert, and Steve and Jane Holcomb. These individuals have been involved with the school long term and were willing to share their stories and perspectives on the last twenty years.

In the last episode, we spoke with former Legacy student D'Artagnan Elliott about the first show Alice, and the role he played in those formative years of FOIL. In this episode, we explore the themes of community and leadership within the FOIL program as "Sergeant Elliott" and another early-on-the-scene mom, Sharon Demczak, share their perspectives and memories of that time.

In the last episode, we heard about the beginnings of Legacy and FOIL, but not much about the show itself. So we spoke with former Legacy student D'Artagnan Elliott about that first show Alice, the role he and his mother played in FOIL, some fun memories involving him, and what FOIL meant to him and his Legacy experience.

Ten years ago, there was FOIL (Fellowship of Inspired Lions). Twenty years ago, there was Legacy. Without Legacy there is no FOIL. In this episode, hear the stories of both organizations from the women who started them.
